Not racing here, but good to see the season developing and will definitely await the reports.

Interesting race, it's nice to see Farrar up there as a legitimate contender for stage victories.

Go sprint train go. Confident I can get at least 1 stage win here. No, scrap that, at least 1 stage win is the minimum for me.

Yes the sprints will be fascinating also. Pretty much the best sprinters in CT here, the first battle is to see who forms a sprint train. A decent one can yield fantastic results - you have to hope that some sprinters will not waste energy on bonifications. This seems a long term PCM bug - that sprinters going for this have no energy for final.

Stupid? Point wise, for sure... But the fact I have some talents which need to be trained, also for the Oz and Metinvest made me join a few C2 races. I knew I would never be able to compete at the top of the division and actually would like to relegate in order to build a 100% Ukrainian team. And ofcourse, loaning in those 2 riders only helped us making friends here, which is always a good thing.
Middle East should be better for my team tho, with Vrecer and Polivoda going
Loaning in riders to make friends? I want to relegate? I don't really care for such attitude. loans should be made with both teams getting something out of it, other than for making friends we are all friends here i think. No team should want to relegate.
Pct teams really should be riding C2 races sporadically in my opinion in particular stage races, likewise CT teams in C1 races. In both cases teams need massive fortune to be a factor.
Ofcourse relegating isn't a goal of mine, it just wouldn't bother me too much. I have 3 C2 races this season, of which the Middle East Tour might give me some points. Without those races it would be pretty much impossible to train Sinclair, Smirnovs and Wohler.
And my team's goal has always been to train talents, either for my own team or others, so loaning riders is a must really. It's just what you want in this game: Just performance or have fun in another way.

Still on the same level is Azteca's double header Haedo and Farrar, leadership questions will arise in this team as well.
Interesting race, it's nice to see Farrar up there as a legitimate contender for stage victories.
Not sure how that got into the report, Farrar will not be present in the New Zealand Cycle Classics and Haedo will be the team leader here. Farrar will open his season at the BeNeLux Challenge. And the only race the pair will see together is the Circulo de Juarez in our home nation of Mexico.
We do however want to see the best from our attending riders, leader Juan José Haedo, who if needed will likely get a leadout from compatriot Marcos Crespo and/or Jonathan Millán.
The opening ITT isn't really for us, but I'd like to see us very active in the following four stages.

First race went well, but in New Zealand the pressure even rises. Task is to maximize our score without having a decent sprinter.
Michael Schär is bound to get a nice Top10 overall. Other than that the squad is choosen to (possibly) score in many ways:
Claudio Imhof's TT skills might suffice for a Top25 overall in the end, which will almost automatically mean a Top5 in Young Riders, too.
Armindo Fonseca isn't one of the best sprinters here, but it can't be expected that other C2 races provide easier startlists. So he needs to find a way to score and therewith justify his wage. Due to his nice recovery skills the last stage might be the one for his outcome.
Schär, Imhof and Montaguti can meet the requirements to lay the foundations for Top3 in team ranking.
And finally Martin Kohler joins the team to take his chances in breakaways. He's capable to outsprint most contenders in a small group, no matter if it's for KOM or intermediate sprints.
Lots of hopes, nothing achieved, yet... in what could be an indicatory race for Team Vontobel regarding the Asia Tour ranking goal.
Thanks for the great preview, cio!

Yep, sorry. The game showing the three best riders from every team in the small preview box made me mix up that list and the actual lineup here.

very interesting to know about the other manager's thinkings behind their planing:
My main reason to go here is because i hope that Joeaar can finish high in TT and GC. Stannard, Elijzen, Renäng and Schär are better but he might fight for a top 5 in the opening TT against Lindgren and Zoidl. Hopefully this carriers over into a top 10 in GC. I hope for 15+ points from him.
Teruel is our man for the sprint stages. He is one of the top 15 sprinters here and i hope that he can get into the top 8 once or perhaps twice to score a few points, too.
The rest of the team is only for development here. I hope to see them going into the breaks.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

This is one of exactly 3 races in the C2 for me this year, and they're mostly for Mohoric. I got 500k for him. I think Lorenzetto/Groenewegen could have outside shots. If you don't know the complete season plan you can't call someone stupid.
Other than that I made my stupid decisions in the transfer season and no amount of race planning can save me if I don't podium every cobbled race there is. +several others in the top 10/25

Nice report cio, especially for a first TT! Pretty meh stage for the team, any slight possible hint of a GC placing has disappeared so it's onto the sprints now looking for a podium

Great TT from Joeaar with only 4'' to the podium. Exactly in the positions I hoped him to be. Let's try to defend this position in GC.
And we have our first point in the history of our team now

Two races down, so far we have a 59th and a 64th... those are worth lots of points right?!

Disappointed Zoidl missed out on a top 10, hopefully he can sneak some bonus seconds somewhere to nab a top 10 overall but after that stage I'd settle for holding enough sprinters at bay to take a top 15 overall.
