No matter how many 0's you put there, it's still 1.

The tour will be a battle between Froomey and Conta.
Don't rule out Joaquim Rodrigues. Katusa is focusing totally on TdF. They even rested Daniel Moreno, so that he could help JRod in mountains. Plus Menchov will help too. And JRod has been working on his TT a lot, which he has not done in past. He was using Mercedes F1 GP wind tunnel, last month for aerodynamic position testing.
If you look at Nibali, who worked very hard with his positioning and recon of the TT stage in the Giro, he was still 11 seconds behind Wiggins who had a bike problem.
The fact that talks against JRod is he was a worse TTer than Nibali. Froome and Conta have almost a identical TT which is slightly worse than Wiggins.
But maybe if he gets a big gap of about 1.5 minutes he can defend himself in the TT
Guido Mukk wrote:
I have heard so many stories about riders who will try to improve a TT skill. Nothing sensetional that far. Only pink-yellow shirt seems to get extra 15% for poor TT rider
Nah, there's really room for substantial improvements in TT at many pros. I'm still perplex at how many of them, actually, especially given the involvement and commitment that pro cycling requires from cyclists.
Compare true TT riders (Cancellara, T.Martin, Wiggins), to more average ones (Froome, Nibali, Contador), or to make it more blatant : to poor ones (A. Schleck).
What's the big difference ? Position on the bike, aerodynamics. It's far from being only a matter of sheer power.
That's why it makes a lot of sense that Nibali and J-Rod have been working in wind tunnels lately.
(And if somebody is interested in the formula linking power to speed and frontal surface, here it is :
P = 0,5 x (rau) x S.Cx x V^3
rau characterizes air density
S.Cx is the frontal surface (on a frontal (x) axis)
V is air speed, which is the rider's speed when there's no wind
That takes about 90 % of the whole power on the flat, the remaining 10 are for rolling resistance)
When there's little room to improve power, there's probably still room to improve S.Cx at most riders. And if you wonder, the bike alone represents about 1/3 of the whole S.Cx.
edit : meh, a dozen of messages have been posted while I was writing

They must be reading our comments.
(If they are)
They should really fix the issue I talked about yesterday where I paused, then came back and was watching it, happy as can be, when the "live" broadcast ended so did my delayed stream.

I guess that's what the "replay has been fixed in v1.4" message is about

I have a feeling that if this issue got/gets to them they'd have it fixed before the race is over

Yeah, especially as this would make that addition a bit useless, because if you wanted to watch from an earlier part on, you'd be lost the same way again.
So only if you just look up a KoM or such and go back live afterwards, that helps at all. If they didn't read ALL and fixed that as well.
Anyone fancy to give it a try?

I knew Nathan Brown would try something.
I almost posted it before, but it was going to break the conversation about Froome. He's great on the hills.
@ luigi - Damn. I saw that pop up. Of course if i closed the window I'd lose my paused place (yesterday).
This calls for someone to tweet them

Why isn't the tour tracker working? Only the logo shows up for me.
EDIT: Works now.

Good attacking racing. Profile doesn't give the route justice as to how up and down the roads are. Should be a fast finish coming up. |
