It doesn't change a thing if you train on your own. You'll just ride slower.
If you train in group, you'll have to produce a slightly higher effort to maintain the same pace, which can be either good, or... counter-productive. |

My bike still has the original frame, it belonged to my grandfather, looks like those bikes you see in the black&white pictures of old races
Though recently I got my dad's old bike, which is a bit more modern, a Peugeot. Still pretty heavy, though
Was it one of these He He

In my first road club we used to have 'Chain Gangs' on a Wednesday evening, boy they were fast and if you were unfit then you were dropped in a matter of seconds, but it certainly helped with the fitness levels |

Been offline for a weeks.
Managed to get hit by car just over 2 weeks ago, car swerved into the bike lane and jammed me into a parked car. The driver didn't stop so it was a friendly hit and run, spent a few days in hospital with nothing broken but my entire right side with heavy bruising. It has put my 3 Peaks training behind climbing wise but have still managed 800 k's since so at least my legs have still been turning over (in so much pain)

Tandem cycling again today. I should have worn my thermal gloves, it was that cold I was fine elsewhere though. This could become a regular thing which I like the idea of, thing is, it has just made me want to get my own bike out and about |

Danny Pate came out to do the group ride in Colorado Springs today. He pretty much just sat in the group all day, awesome nonetheless.

Been out this weekend for the first time in 8 weeks (since I had my old bike nicked)
Picked up my new one today (Boardman Team Carbon) which compared to my old aluminium frame, is an utter dream! Done 135 miles between today and yesterday, feel so good to be back on the bike again!

I've been on my turbo trainer in the last couple days. Not been on the road thanks to the weather and I'm trying to get over a chest infection. 45 minute fitness test have proved that I have no fitness at all!

Need some somewhat professional experience here, no where better than on PCM Daily, I think.
Tell me, are there any cyclist in a ProTour or ProContinental Team that only started racing at age 20? With "started racing" I mean racing in peloton, in a team, professional training, full time job. Or is it impossible, too late to make anything of it after reaching age 20, even with some minor talent? |

Plenty of great long distance athletes start around that age. Much more "later starters" in ironman triathlon than professional cycling I think.
There was a guy at the olympics riding for the USA track team who apparently only took the sport up recently. But yea, I highly doubt a sprinter could develop from that age, but there'd be a small chance at becoming a good TT'er if the physical ability is there.

Problem is my constitution is only fit for a climber/hilly rider. I'm 178cm and weight only 55kg. My dad was extremely talented and could've been a great professional rider and I inherited a bit of that talent, unfortunately not all. I've been training for a year and a half now. But I'm thinking if I want to make a chance of it, I'd better act now. |

Well, it's a bit far from the ProTour/PCT level, but a Brazilian rider called Nilceu dos Santos only started in cycling at the age of 19 from what I know. He was Brazilian champion in 2007 and finished twice in the Top 5 of the UCI America Tour, being for years considered the best Brazilian sprinter.

Well, indeed JTL, I saw on Wikipedia that Tiernan-Locke started road cycling at 18.
