1. Alex Diniz
2. Santambrogio @24
3. Kwiatkowski (surprising imo)
4. De Clercq @25
5. TVG
6. VDB
7. Daniel Diaz @29
8. Ulissi @34
9. Rubiano
10. Andre Cardoso
Contador 13th, Sagan abandons after a crash.
So Diniz should get a stat update in the Daily DB
Kwiatkowski is developing into a multi-talent, not as much as Moser or Sagan though.
Wait for his positive first
Guess January is a difficult time to predict futures, but he's faring pretty well, and comparisons to Sagan and Moser are unfair, you can't compare every football player to Messi.
And I think he has a better TT than both.
I don't mean he's got the same qualities, only that he is pretty allround (for example Mandri is allround too), just like Sagan and Moser. First he was a TT specialist only, in the Tour de Pologne he proved his sprinting skills and now he seems to be a decent puncheur as well.
Seems like a small misunderstanding from my side, granted
Though it's really surprising a TT/sprint engine and this:
go together that well.

Actually he was better than this in the hills in poland last year already
Indeed, I remember that stage. It was slightly odd in its development, but it sets a nice foundation to explain this result.
For anyone not remembering, it was that incredible sprint by Moser to catch Henao. It becomes more impressive with every time I watch it. Edited by cio93 on 23-01-2013 21:34

Wooh, stop there. Tour of Poland queen stage was very hilly. He already proved there he could do well on hills there already. He didn't really take part in mass sprints there at all. Two he got good results were from medium bunch and we know he's got good kick on him.

And hell, now that they have a good finish line camera, they don't show a thing of anyone after Diniz. Well, I understand South Americans care a lot about emotions, and you can spot Contador, but still?
Not possible. In the period he was suspended, he said in an interview that he deeply regretted what he had done, and that he wanted to be a role model for the new guys when he came back. Plus, it's a widely known fact that lesser riders, sprinters and team-mates don't dope, only the GC contenders do it.
Spoiler
Additionally, he is from [add your country here], therefore he can't dope. He just works harder than the rest of them and is naturally gifted, that's all. And I won't even bother starting to argue about how much his team invested the last season so that a result like this would be possible now.
I mean, the main sponsor of his team is Funvic, the Christian Life University Foundation. Do you think they'd allow their riders to dope? And what about their image?
Interesting to see De Greef so high on that list. Usually more of a quiet GT rider constantly around 20th place without any real stand out stage results. I'd like to see him around a bit more this season.
De Clerq off to a strong season start as well. While Van Den Broeck is looking good, too. Not in his best shape yet, obviously, but looking good nevertheless!
Is it sure that Sagan abandoned? Because i see him in the results listed as 69th with more than seven minutes lost, but still better than many others...

I think you mean De Clercq. (I mix them up too...)
I hope he rides the TDF this year. He could be very helpful as a mountain domestique for VDB and try to get a top 20 GC result himself.

Sagan neither abandoned, neither did he crash.
It was his team-mate Micheal Koch that was the unfortunate.

Argh damn that was a stupid mistake.
And 20th at the Tour is more than De Clerq is capable of, given that I imagine he will be leading in either the Giro or the Vuelta again

Well, it's not that stupid. There are many decent climber and even I confuse them myself, there's De Clerq, De Greef, De Weert, Devenyns...
Well, this channel has some long videos of San Luis stages. Unfortunately, they do not seem to be an actual coverage of the race, more like the commentators commenting something or an interview while images of the stages are shown. Still better than nothing:
Diniz attack at 4:05. And in this one, you can see the arrival of most riders after him.
And on today's ITT, apparently Breno Sidoti is also currently leading with 23' 42". Only 30 riders or so have finished so far, Martin Velits being the only WT rider at 24' 04".
Edit: now Trentin holds the best time with 23' 23", Sidoti second.
Edit2: now Adriano Malori leading, 22' 23".
