Thanks a lot.
Last year I won stage 2 with Hunter, so maybe again this year.
Santos Tour Down Under - Stage 2
Gawler - Hahndorf
This stage is very flat except of some tiny hills, so we can expect another sprint finish. Hopefully Haussler/Goss are doing good today.
According to the weather forecast it will be a very windy day, so the riders must be extremely careful.
Some riders with the usual attack. Jack Bobridge is our man in the group. He will try to get some bonus seconds and the KoM sprint. We don`t expect the group to have success.
Kozontchuk (Rabobank), Valentin (FDJ), Schröder (NetApp), Cooke (Leopard), Gerard (Ag2r), Pliuschin (Katusha), Bole (Lampre) and Bertogliati (Androni) are the others.
Quickstep, HTC and Lampre are doing the pace. Except of Lampre they are still looking for a good result.
Kozontchuk isn`t very happy with the group and attacks. All other riders stay together and will catch up after a few kilometers again.
Bobridge wins the KoM sprint ahead of Valentin and Gerard. But nevertheless Sieberg will keep the jersey tomorrow.
On the final 15km the group splitted. Except of Bobridge, who was just caught, all our riders are in the 2nd group as the first is very small. Also Napolitano is behind. As Meyer and Lowe are already quite exhausted and Haussler is again the stronger one today, Goss i doing a high pace to help him.
6km to the finish the groups just came together when Boasson Hagen crashed. Good for him that he won`t lose time but he might be injured that early in the season,
Goss is now totally exhausted, but Haussler was able to get Steegman`s wheel, who is behind his team mate Ventoso.
Bad for us that Steegmans lost the wheel with 3,4km to go and so Haussler had to take a long sprint from some positions behind.
With Sutton one of the strongest so far in January wins this stage ahead of McEwen and Steegmans, who wasn`t that much blocked than Haussler, who finished on a good 5th behind Petacchi.
With another wheel it could have been another podium but we are happy that we connected with the front group again after the split.

Thanks all
@ Freitas: Hope it will come soon I always won at least one stage in Down Under on hard. Hopefully I can reach this on extreme, too.
@ baia: Actually Sutton is their main sprinter here as he is in a very good form. Probably he won`t have problems to climb Willunga Hill. But I agree, a fresh Hagen could make many races a lot more interesting in February.
@lluuiiggii: I haven`t expected that much win in the TDU and the group just splits when the breakaway was caught. So Haussler did indeed very well.
As you might see on the next stage I played a bit with my graphics. Activated shadows on 1/2, stage 4 even 2/2. As long as it runs quite smooth, you can enjoy better screenshots
Actually Alakagon`s story made me try this. As I was never able to play with shadows in all older versions I switched it off in PCM10, too. But with my new PC, I bought half a year ago, I should have tried it earlier.
Santos Tour Down Under - Stage 3
Unley - Stirling
Todays stage to Stirling is much harder than last two. The last kilometers are very hilly and also the final sprint will be completely uphill. As earlier version showed this might be something for puncheurs or sprinters like Breschel last year. Taaramae (Cofidis), who showed some solid performance so far could be a good bet today, but also Florencio (Saxobank), Voeckler (Europcar) or Hagen (Sky) should suit this finish.
Our Garmin riders should arrive with the first group but sprinting for the win might be too much.
Bobrdige wanted to get the KoM jersey after this stage and attacked a lot on the first kilometers. But unfortunately he had no success.
Kluge (NetApp), Ponzi (Farnese), Vaitkus (RadioShack), Perget (Movistar), Fernandez (Euskaltel), Hunt (Saxobank), Da Dalto (Androni) and Hansen (HTC) are the riders in the break.
Especially Quickstep, Sky and Cofidis are doing the pace and control the advance. Cofidis pace today makes much more sense but Quickstep for Boonen is again surprising after his sprint results so far.
This might become closer than expected. With 25km to go the advance is still 2'47. But now the hard part begins.
The peloton crosses the line for the first time. As Lampre also helped with Ulissi the advance melts very fast. But for Napolitano this finish might be way to hard but there are also Bole and Marzano.
With about 10km to the finish the group got caught. The pace is extremely high and so many riders find themselves in the end of the long peloton. Luckily HAussler and also Goss quite far in front.
Quickstep knew what they were doing today. Tom Boonen with his first win of the season. He wins ahead of M.Lloyd (Sky) and Rodriguez (Katusha). Taaramae on 4 also showed a good early form. We might see more on Willunga Hill. Haussler finished 7th behind Bazayev and again Sutton, who keeps the lead.
Unfortunately the field splitted and so Bobridge lost about one minute today. Bad for his overall ambitions but maybe good for his fight for the KoM jersey.

Thanks all. Boonen was really impressive. The only sprinter, who was able to beat the puncheurs. But also Sutton was again impressive as he is just 69hi. All other sprinters had at least 72.
Santos Tour Down Under - Stage 4
Norwood - Goolwa
This stage is very flat again and so we hope for a good day with Haussler or Goss. Especially Haussler showed a good performance so far and it`s time that he treats himself now.
Again Bobridge tried everything to join the group of the day. And as he lost time yesterday we hoped it would be quite easy. But all group around him were caught immediately. Once we missed a group, they were allowed to ride.
Schröder (NetApp), Grabovskyy (Farnese), Vandenbergh (Katusha), Bertogliati (Androni), Ortega Orts (Euskaltel), Da Costa, Mata (Movistar) and Clement (Rabobank).
Sky and Lampre are doing the pace. This could actually a perfect finish for Napolitano, who already won stage 1.
With 50km to go many riders attack. Most famous are Voeckler (Europcar), Kuschynski (Liquigas) and Bakelants (Omega).
But the Peloton can already see both groups. Bobridge has taken the lead to give his leaders a nice chance.
With 35km to go yesterdays winner Tom Boonen with a puncture. HE had to suffer a lot to come back into the peloton.
Is he still fresh enough now to perform well in the sprint?
With 15km all riders are caught and the sprint can be prepared.
As Haussler seems to be in a better form and with good chances in the overall, Goss is leading him to the front. His position couldn`t be much better but also Napolitano on the left and Gatto and Fernandez in the middle are in good positions.
Boonen really did it to the front again, but this must have cost a lot of energy.
Haussler wins a very close sprint ahead of Robbie McEwen. The first win on extreme The gap to Fernandez was already a bit bigger. His first thank goes to Matthew Goss, who worked very hard to make this possible today.
With the bonus seconds he also takes the overall lead as Boonen had no energy and also Sutton and Napolitano did not finished in the top 10.
Now we must give everything to defend the lead on the next stage, which is definitely the hardest.

Thanks all. But it`s too early to decide if extreme is the better solution as the fitness isn`t perfect.
When I have perfect fitness and still able to get good results then fine. But when I have no chance at all I will go back then. |

Your graphics remind me a lot of mine now that I have a new gfx card. What are your settings? I play full everything except Shadows. In fact I think your graphics have improved a lot. Did you get a new card?
Nice win on Extreme. I can only ever get sprint wins on Extreme. Mountain stages are too hard.

Thanks.
The card is the same, but haven`t tried shadows before and actually it runs quite good.
Everything on high but deactivate Anti Aliasing, Anistropy?, and the smooth effect while moving.
We will see on the mountain stages. First real mountain stage is with Martin in Tour of Oman, but this might be different to the Pro Tour mountains. |

Great victory, now all the best for the next stages, and hopefully you can defend the overall.
My Ati 5770 runs everything maxed out, before when I was playing PCM it usually crashed, now when I do the story with Sky not a single crash, I think deactivating the replays really helped, thanks for the tip Roturn |
