Sorry for today's report, I fumbled while doing it (and again forgot that I can't save replays on TTs -_-' )
Don't worry about it, it happens to the best of us! TT's are always tricky to report!
Agree with WJ, awesome that you are reporting. To be honest if you hadn't said something I wouldn't have noticed a problem.

I'm not sure screenshots add a ton to TT reports anyway. Their only purpose is really to show off some NC jerseys and space out the text to build anticipation. So I don't think it's a big deal at all. It's beena rgeat race to follow from afar.
Suter becoming a GT breakaway god has definitely given me some regrets about that sale though.

Well that was a very good TT. I did expect Chiarello to be in the top 10 here, but 2nd is very much a surprise! Also considering how poor this race have been this far.
I guess we can Cut all chances of a breakaway succes with him sitting well in the GC though. Let’s see what happens. I hope he can atleast get some Stage succes throughout so we won’t just sit and wait for the inevideble drop in GC.
Great win for Eastman!

Formolo really doesn't like time-trials.

Don't worry Imladrik, you're doing a great job!
4th and only 22 seconds behind Eastman is a better result than I had dared to hope for. Kudus also had a strong day and even won some time back.
Dombrowski is in a great position now, but I'm not going to speculate about the GC outcome. Let's take it one day at a time. The main objective is: do not crack.

Considering the length of the TT and the time some other contenders lost - 12th on the day really is a good result for Carthy, even if it means that we drop 2 spots to 8th overall. We are pretty well placed to move up a couple spots ahead of us to get a top 5 result here but I feel some good stage placings may be more important for us. In that regard I hope Williams can be active in some breaks as he really has dropped away from a GC placing.

Yay. Finally a win! Really glad to see Eastman clinch this one. Dombo seems untouchable, o 2nd is very much a top result for us. Yates and Kudus are looming way too close for us to feel safe about that possibility.
Do not worry about the screenshot mishap, Imladrik. You re doing an amazing job!

Chiarello doesn’t work for us unfortunately. It’s really not good. I had hoped for an Evonik-Chiarello, but haven’t seen any of that yet :-(
And the rest of his former team constantly tries to get into breaks but is never strong enough to actually get in there...
Evonik - Chiarello usually was the weakest in week 1 anyway
Can I say "Told ya!"? Congrats, love it!

Difficult TT for Preidler, as expected. Now I'm excited and hopeful, fingers crossed he'll get the green light to attack and be part of breakaways when we hit the high mountains in this final week!
Congratulations on the stage win, SotD. Very, very strong, and also surprising performance by Chiarello! |

Well these last two stages kinda changes everything I guess! What a win! Definately did not see that coming. Especially the way it did.
@knockout - You most certainly can. And I must admit I have never been more happy for you to be right :-D
@ember - Thanks a lot. Indeed, both strong and surprising. To sit in 5th in the GC aswell is really something with "just" one week to go.
It's going to be very interesting to see how he performs in that final week with all it's mountains. Obviously 5th isn't going to stick by any means, but could he get away with a top 10?
That would be brilliant. Especially considering how poor Mavrikakis and Spanopoulos are. Kastrantas currently our 2nd best rider in the GC. Can't really see why Mavrikakis should do so poor, but the pure mountain stages can hopefully help him climb close to the top 25.

Good to see Formolo trying to be aggressive once again. Too bad it didn't materialize to anything.

Decent results in the two transition stages. Interesting that the break rarely succeeds so far. If this continues we might have a shot at green.

Some very quiet days for us, except Nateklishvili joining a break but unable to hold on for very long. Was a bit surprised by Munoz' 20th place in the time trial tbh. I wonder whether Sterbini will be able to survive the final six stages, seeing as he is constantly thrown overboard early.
Thanks for the successive amazing reports, Imladrik. Also can't wait to read your Angliru report tomorrow

Putting Kastrantas in the break was the best possible move here, as he could take 2nd in KOM with a better climb, or take a shot at the stagewin. It wasn't to be though, which I kinda thought looking at the stage profile. Not that HE would win, but the break would.
Chiarello in 9th picking up some minor points and also climbing to a decent position in the points competition is nice. With a couple of sprinters narrowly ahead and with just 1 sprint stage to go he should realistically take 6th place soon - unless he get's overtaken by someone like Eastman or Godoy before that ofcourse.
I would really like to see Mavrikakis and Spanopoulos in the breaks now, but as long as Chiarello is in the top 10 I suspect it's not going to happen. Fingers crossed though, as otherwise it has been some wasted racedays for important leaders for us.

I'm not happy with how we're racing the last stages, we have assembled a team to attack but sadly we're not doing it atm.

What a finish that was. Could have been a win, but in the end we are lucky even to get another podium.

Next couple of stages are once again very important for us with many interesting break opportunities on offer. Hoping Vosekalns + Blums will be very active in those.

Not enjoying this Vuelta at all, my team is doing really bad; luckily the reports are great so it's still nice to follow. Thank you Imladrik!

Not much to cheer about for me so far.
It's a shame that Sosa seems to have had his bad days in those stages that gave the largest gaps. However, it is nice to see that he keeps trying even if his attacks have not been crowned with success. It makes me kind of optimistic, maybe not for this race but for his general future.
Thanks for the continuously nice reports! |
