Nice win for Kruiswijk, a deserving rider
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Good to see Brambilla is still hanging out with the big guys. Tolhoek in the breakaway is a good sign for future seasons.

Good effort by Lastra! With some more development this could have been a top ten, so hopefully he can take that step next year. Decent stages for Nesset and Iturria also.
As always, Kruijswijk is a gem. Congrats DD!

There's not stopping Kruijswijk in GTs! Congratulations, DD
Seeing Taaramae proving strongest of the favourites, it's a bit annoying to see him not make it all the way up to the Kruijswijk and the very front of the race, especially as I think that could have made the chance to create a gap bigger than when you end up in "breakaway traffic". There's obviously the potential of 20, 12 og 8 bonus seconds lost too, but alright. He keeps red and looks strong, which is the most important, and also holding the points jersey with a solid grip.
The TT will be crucial. Seeing the prologue, another stage win should be possible, but it could be very close, and judging from the prologue, anything from 1st to 5th feels possible!
And thank you for another very entertaining and well covered mountain stage, Tamijo |

Pretty confused as to why Carthy was chasing the break, rather than being in it. Cattaneo did about as expected, though I guess his total inability to sprint explains a fair bit of his time loss. Still, he's now back in the top 10 mix it seems, though a lot will hinge on whether Brambilla and Keinath begin to lose time. |

Not the best day to crack.. Had hoped for a better position before the time trial and not only a better position, but even more a better shape! Not sure, how he recovers from this now. Well.. Still in Top-10 contention at least.. But we need breakaways, guys. So just join them!

Well now suddenly stuff turned around. How is Gilanippor almost better than Keizer on a stage like this??

Velits with a bad day here.
First following the attack but later lost quite some time.
Weirdly Olivier this time not helping him and stayed with Keinath I guess. Not too bad neither.
In the end though Olivier should slowly consider joining the breaks instead of my non climbers, which at least regularly do so. Koep really should be the rider for first half GT mountain breakaways but basically never joins.
GC wise the team still looking good but they mustn`t have more of todays days.
Congrats DubbleDekker, Kruijswijk on his run again. |

PCM 18 really loves Kruijswijk, congrats DD!
Great result by Sequera, showing how attacking pays off. Will hopefully happen more often throughout this GT.
Thanks Tamijo!

I have to say amazing reports so far, Kritskiy really needs a win tomorrow because the time bonuses are really hurting him. Hopefully we will have a close fight up until the very end!

Finally a race I am happy with: Guerao with the first win of the season, after we were close multiple times, Denifl still in a solid position in the GC fight and Azman with a great ride on the last stage to move into the KoM lead.
I hope the TT doesn't hurt Denifl too much and he can defend his 5th place until the end.
Thanks for the great reports Tamijo! |

Kruijswijk strikes again Amazing rider! His breakaway antics are a great source of entertainment, even when they fail. And the list of successful ones is certainly impressive by now. I'm sad that he'll decline after this season.
And what is up with Karnulin?! The favorites blasted up that mountain. Strong climbers were fainting left and right. Holding on at the front is a huge performance for Denys.
Another great stage. Hope this Vuelta will continue to be this fun. The reports are top notch, Tamijo.

Editorial Note:
It seems 95% sure that I have the Coronavirus, but as it almost impossible to get a test unless you are very sick, I don’t know for sure. Anyway, that is why my reports is not coming on a daily basis. Some days I have high fever and find it very difficult to focus on any just slightly complex task. I only need to create a few reports, but also those are taking a lot of extra time in my current condition, so all in all, the Vuelta a Espana will continue, you just have to have a bit more patience with me in this situation.

Don't worry about our patience, mate. And just focus yourself on getting healthy. I hope you will feel better soon!
(Haig and Canty with a good time trial.)

Take care of your own health, Tamijo! Hope you feel better the coming days. You must of course take your own pace here and take it easy when you have to. That's much more important than the MG. All the best
-------
Had hoped Wurtz could have made the top 10, but not a super, super ride from him. Good ride from Iturria though, and as expected from Nesset.
A great battle for the stage win. Congrats on yet another win, ember!

Take your time Tamijo, hope you get better soon
As for the TT I’m happy with Brändle in the top 10 and Denifl extending the gap to Kudus. It was expectable that he’d lose contact to the guys in front of him |

Was hoping for a bit better by Keinath to be honest (without looking too much on the stats though).
Velits though did pretty well and so did Olivier.
So 12th, 14th, 17th is pretty nice in general but would be quite disappointed if no one ends in the top10 really.
Now the crucial time starts, where a break can mix it a bit. So hopefully my riders are attentive to join. |
