I was worried when Kiserlovski followed the attack on the Cat 3 he would blow up on the big climb but he limited his losses and stayed 4th in GC, well done. Pleased to see he had some support on the last climb as well and those guys staying in the top 30.
Its nothing compared to Ticos of course, crazy depth! Congrats Ste.
The report was an excellent read, thanks roturn.

Ouch. Berhane
Wouldn't have expected such big gaps here. The climb ain't easy, but not too long either. What a ride from Schelling, I fully expected Barguil to take the stage once they got a gap on the rest. It's more and more clear that we will see those two fighting for the GC crown. A pity that Berhane and Pinot lost too much time in this first half of the race. The former really needs a big comeback to fight for the podium. Can't see him fighting back for anything more than 3rd.

What a strange race, I don't understand how Schelling could ever put that much time into all the other riders who seem a lot better than him on paper. He continues to make his manager very happy
Roturn, the reporting here is top notch! Thank you! It has been an extremely fun race to follow.

Wow, Schelling in pole position to take the victory! Who would've thought?
Looking back at the first mountains, I guess we did about as well as we could expect. Krasno around top 15 was to be expected. Manfredi still in contention for the U25 jersey, though it could've been so much more. But I certainly hoped for an attack or two today! |

Woah, what a stage. Schelling dominant and Barguil right with him most of the way. A very good stage by Garby to stay with Pinot and gain a lot of time on the minor placing GC guys today. Very happy with that ride. Up to 6th place which is already decent, but I think a top 5 is possible if a couple of guys slip again like today. I wouldn't count on it, but let's consolidate our top 10 and see how it ends up.
Congrats Bushwackers!

This is shaping out to be an exciting race! Huge effort from Schelling. Kind of a bad day for Ticos, but at least the upcoming mountain stages should be better, as they used a lot of power on the flats today, not really getting much value for their work. When we get to the more stages with multiple mountains I'll guess they'll get better paid for their depth. Though, looks like Barguil is the rider they have to get behind completly now. Will certainly be interesting to see how close they can get to the teams in the safe zone if they should be able to get two on the podium.
On the other hand, a very mixed race for the teams in the promotion fight. If Schelling can keep this up, UBS look more or less secured for promotion. Newton started well here, but it's starting to looke like a relatively anonymous race. The two final races for TvG will certainly be important, especially if Orange can put some pressure on (I'm guessing Sicard is doing Colombia and East Java at least).

I'll definitely take that given the results of cmsome other riders. Up into that Top5 spot on GC so definitly need to hold onto that.
Ouch for Berhane and SN...

Really enjoying the quality reports, cheers Roturn. Now that there has been a couple of mountain stages. things taking a lot more shape. Surprised Schelling so strong (and Berhane so weak). Otherwise seems more or less reasonable. Nice to have this race where different riders to the norm from the season are fighting over the main places both in stages and overall.

Great support from Tatarinov but where was Hirschlein, we need him to perform.
Kiserlovski grinding out another ride to stay in 4th, keep it up, 3rd 4th and 5th are very close together.

Scrabbling for a Top 10 now.
Schelling has been fantastic. Great reports too.

Sucks for Berhane... big win for Schelling though! Not minding this rankings wise for us or Netia, but a shame Reddit's gamble didn't pay off all the same. Thanks roturn for some top quality reports as usual

Woah!
A second stage win here is far beyond what I could have hoped for, and both were very surprising. I was hoping the small climbs in route with give Bertilsson a small advantage, and it looks like they did! Finally he doesn't lose his amazing positioning and is somehow able to win a straight sprint to the finish. All complaints about Bertilsson can go away now I guess. When you pay a guy 50k, one performance like this is usually enough. Terrific work.
Now, there's a very important stage coming up for Garby. Gotta hope that TT doesn't have much to do with it, but he could lose time even if it's only mountain based on a bad day. We just have to hope our luck hasn't run out yet.
