Ronde van Nederland
2 Bumpy (1 uphill finish) | 1 Flat
It's time for the first ever Ronde van Nederland, and over three days the riders will take on an intriguing trio of stages: One mostly flat but with some bumps and a sprint finish with 1.2-0.4km to go basically at 4-5% before a false flat finish, one pretty much all flat and one with a very hilly start before an undulating rest of the way with some steep pitches but a long flat finish. The F1-style bonuses means consistency is key, which means unless we see a dramatic solo win by a puncheur, this race is probably one for the punchy sprinters who can contest the win on Stage 1, for the top 5 on Stage 2 and for the top 10 on Stage 3, and gaining many bonuses.

If you look at the above table study the four top sprinters. You'd get very low odds on betting that one of them will take this one out. Perfectly suited to a race like this, all four of them could win Stage 1, top 5 Stage 2 and look to stick to the puncheurs on stage 3. Van Stayen and Demare, permanent rivals, will be our top two contenders to take out the GC victory out of those four, as they both could be top names on a table of pure puncheurs or pure sprinters on the startlist here.
Those punchy sprinters will have to watch out for the likes of Hagen and Bakelants though. If they manage to power clear on the late rises of Stage 3, and nab some bonus seconds in Stage 1's uphill finish, then they could overturn the deficit, particularly in Van Staeyen et al don't score too well on Stage 2. Watch out for recent Vuelta al Pais Vasco (against pretty much every other puncheur here bar Hagen) winner Bobridge as a dark horse to make it two GC wins within a fortnight, as the Aussie could has some serious time trial chops which he could utilise on the flat to rolling finish of Stage 3.
If there's no real decisive stages the focus could switch to a rider like Grosu, possibly the best sprinter here and definitely no slouch over some bumpy terrain, and if he doesn't concede time on Stage 3 then he could possibly outdo Van Stayen, Kump and Demare.

Hope Boeckmans turns up for this race. A gamble to have Bakelants here, not knowing how hard those stages turn out. Could well be quite a large group on the third stage, fingers crossed that we will try to animate the race.

Tricky race, but it seems that I haven't been the only one to take that gamble. Quite a startlist and obviously, those profiles could well end in weird and random bunch sprints. Still hoping for a somewhat "selective" final stage, where a late attack can make you outsmart the sprinters. Of course with Bobridge as the guy to do so
No seriously high expectations though. But we will always have some pressure to deliver, so Bobridge and hopefully Howard (well....) may give their best here, please.

Was looking forward to what Borges could do here, but now I'm more hopeful of a good result in Strade Bianche
Ardennes-like startlist, it should provide some good racing!

A top 10 stage result is all I can ask, I think, as my team has some nice riders here, but none to really challenge for anything. It would be great though to see us go KoM hunting, I'll happily take Trentin in a breakaway on the final stage
This really should be between MVS and Démare, to continue the fun between them and their managers |

I do not have high expectations for this race, so everything that comes above the minimum points will already be good.
I would like the team to try to enter the breaks and maybe fight for KoM

Big expectations, big doubts if i made a good call basically sending my flat team and sending all my puncheurs to Italy and big pressure on Van Stayen to beat Demare.

Well, will be fun to see if Ahlstrand can repeat what he did in Czech this time with Stallaert as leadout. All about stage hunting for us here since we dont have any GC guy here. |

Win goal for us, with a cautiously optimistic expectation being to get on the podium first. Stage 1 will already play a big role in whether we can dream big here, and objectively, a route couldn't look any better for Demare.
Obviously, a packed startlist for those three race days, but beyond Demare I hope my team can keep up on stage 3 and amass decent stage placings for a good final GC behind the guys taking bonus seconds (as in Top 15 onward, I would guess). As the preview table shows, we have lots of depth for this kind of race.

Considered Koretzky for this one, but ended up giving him another one-day race instead. So I have no expectations from this race whatsoever.

If stage 3 is very selective we have a chance of a good result. A small chance.

I hope Tejay can do something on the last stage. He should be among the best puncheurs here, and should be far enough behind from bonus seconds to be interested in attacking.

Mainly here for xp which nearly went horribly wrong when I forgot to schedule the riders who needed the xp!
Would love to see us form a train for Cav but doubt it. Flugel could go well on the lumpy bits.

First sign of "Boeckmans not being totally shit" this season. That's good. Decent from Bakelants, all though I'd hoped to see him closer to the top, especially given that TJ, Sagan and EBH got some bonus seconds.
A podium without surprises today, though MSR winner Van der Lijke disappointed a bit. Congrats to cio though. I would guess that Van Staeyen passed Demare again on the next stage, so all set for a thrilling end to the race.

well played by the team, with no one able to discuss the stage victory the only option was to put a man on the break and that's what we did. Leadership at KoM for at least two days now guarantees a few extra points. The rest of the team as usual was pretty bad.

The next race where my sprinters are ignored...at least De Bie in front rows...GC against bonus second sprinters will be hard but as home race was needed.
To be fair, not the best suited stage though, so might as well have been mio energy, we'll see on the next.
But far too many opportunities missed already, which will make staying up in PT difficult.

No big surprises on the opening stage is good. 2nd on the stage is good too especially with Greg claiming some potentially very valuable bonus seconds as well. Thanks for the report and congrats to cio for his last stage win in this race

Huzzah! Brilliant setup by the team, on level with the Evonik monster train up until Demare could take care of himself just fine. A tense final ramp with a delicate balance between catching Greg in time, but not acting as a leadout himself either.
Thanks for a great report of those moments!
GvA hopefully helps knockout's mood. Thanks mate, I wouldn't mind both of us missing out from now on
Not entirely happy with the stage placings of Arndt and Cavagna, who both could get minor points at the end of these three days in GC and U25 respectively and could've used a low sum in the end. A very minor thing though.
