Welcome to the third edition of my football prediction game. After the 2014 World Cup and Euro 2016 we now focus our attention to the 2018 World Cup in Russia. There have been some changes to the game so please read the rules carefully, for both new and returning players.
- This is a match-to-match prediction format. This means you don't need to predict the entire tournament beforehand, such as predicting who will advance from the group stage and which teams will reach the final right now.
- You need to predict the final score of each match, not just the winner.
- For now you can only predict the group stage matches. Once both teams have advanced to a next round match that fixture will become available for prediction.
- Everyone can participate, no restrictions!
- You can predict matches by posting your prediction in this thread (unlike previous editions where you had to PM them, see spoiler)
- The list of available matches can be found in post 2.
- You don't need to follow the exact format as me, but please be clear with country names/flags so I don't get confused.
- The deadline for every individual prediction is the official kick-off time for the match. You can change your prediction as many times as you want before the kick-off, your final predictions stand.
Spoiler There are three reasons why I decided to have the predictions be made in public:
- I can participate as well without being accused of cheating 
- It increases thread interaction. Last time 90% of the posts were me posting an update. I see it works well in Grand High Wizard so I think it could work here as well.
- I once won a prediction game because I predicted the exact same result in the final as my closest rival so he couldn't overtake me. I felt guilty afterwards so I wanted to prevent such a situation here. So please, don't do that if we get to the final
Points system:
- Correct winner/draw: 10 points
- Correct number of goals for team A: 5 points
- Correct number of goals for team B: 5 points
- Correct outcome of match: 5 points
Points system
- Correct winner/draw after 90 minutes: 5 points
- Correct team to advance to next round (or win the championship): 5 points
- Correct number of goals for team A after 90 minutes: 5 points
- Correct number of goals for team B after 90 minutes: 5 points
- Correct outcome of the match: 5 points
- In the knockout phase, you need to predict the result after normal time, which is 90 minutes + additional time, without extra time and penalty shoot-outs.
- If you predict a draw, you need to specify who will advance to the next round (or in case of the final, who wins the championship).
- From the quarter final onwards, all matches will receive double points.
- The final will receive quadruple points (x4).
Points system
- World Champions outright: 100 points
- Other bonus questions: 25 points
- Generally, there will be one bonus question for each round. However, I may increase or decrease the amount of bonus question as I seem fit.
- The bonus question could be specific to the round it belongs to but this is not necessarily the case.
- Doubling/quadrupling does not apply to the bonus questions, only to the matches.
- In case there are multiple correct answers to a question, all of them will give the full points.
- You don't need to predict every match and bonus question, but you can't score points for matches you didn't predict. This means you can join in after the start of the tournament but obviously already played matches can't be predicted anymore.
- I will try to give an update after each matchday, maybe even after each match depending on my free time.
- I might send reminders for deadlines but it's your own responsibility to predict in time.
- If a game gets postponed or rescheduled for whatever reason, the time to send in the predictions will be extended as well. In case a match gets cancelled and won't be replayed, the predictions will be void.
- If, due to any circumstance, the FIFA changes the outcome of a match or orders a rematch, the results will be changed according to that decision. Any other decision by the FIFA that have an impact on this game will be followed as well.
- In case multiple people end the game with an equal amount of points, the position will be shared. In other words, there are no tiebreaker criteria.
- If a situation comes along in which the rules don't clarify (enough), my decision will be final.

Wow Marco, how did you find the time to host this game? Shouldn't you be planning your trip to Russia to cheer for your national team?
