January is over for the PCT teams and hence here the first ranking update.
To be honest, it`s not been a lot of racing yet and in fact it only was 3 races for them plus the two PT wildcard events without the opportunity to score.
So what did we have?
The top scoring chance in the new PTHC event Colombo Classic. Though in huge copetition against the top riders from the PT.
Then one HC event in the Down Under Classic and the C1 stage race Tour Down Under.
So not a lot and a maximum of 10 race days, which actually was reached by 6 teams while the divisions average is only at 6 1/2 with one team even at 0 races in January and hence quite obvious finding themselves at the lower end.
Right now the teams with big stars top the rankings. Though obviously also those that raced all 3 races. Meiji at the top as Itami, Kinoshita and Hatanaka all did pretty decent. That said, Kinoshita can lose. One thing that was noticed in January which was different to last season. Hence their total points could have been even higher.
Orange next, which is no surprise seeing Schreurs being the winner of the 2017 Tour Down Under. Then again he underperformed hugely in Colombo Classic and Kennaugh also not very well in DUC and hence similar case as Meiji and their total probably should/could have been higher.
Grieg Eftel a very interesting case and different to the top 2. Boasson Hagen won the Colombo Classic against the PT teams, which is a good show of strength of course. Then smaller points only in the other two events but this was probably expected with leaders being Rowe and Watson. With their depth being weaker at the top, it will be interesting to see their trend over the full season.
Following two with scoring only in the Tour Down Under. Isostar though had raced the classic as well as 0-pointer. That said, their horrificly bad performance in the Tour Down Under then, which only saw them as best scoring team easily 19 points ahead of race winner Orange or Fablok as well, delivered them an early promotion spot.
Same goes for Fablok, who had a very good Tour Down Under with Froome doing nicely for the team and scored as much as the race winner`s team Orange.
The middle area then filled with teams, who had either medium consistency or one top result in just one of the events such as Spar/Indosat in the DUC or MOL in the TDU or Carlsberg in Colombo Classic.
The bottom then for Eritel. DUC and Juan Van Heerden won`t become good friends as he once again crashed out.
Haute Route had no single race day yet and Ticos really looking in a pain as their only point is quite bad for 8/10 race days! And also the other teams down there surely hope for better as the luck or strength wasn`t on their side yet.
| | Team | Total | PTHC | DUC | TdU | ColCla | 1 | | Meiji - JR East | 255 | 121 | 75 | 59 | 121 | 2 | | Orange Pro Cycling | 236 | 10 | 53 | 173 | 10 | 3 | | Grieg - Eftel | 220 | 170 | 22 | 28 | 170 | 4 | | Isostar - Adriatic | 192 | 0 | 0 | 192 | 0 | 5 | | Fablok - Bank BGZ | 173 | 0 | 0 | 173 | 0 | 6 | | Indosat Ooredoo - ANZ | 166 | 0 | 125 | 41 | 0 | 7 | | SPAR - Shimano - SCG | 159 | 4 | 155 | 0 | 4 | 8 | | Valio - DeLaval | 152 | 0 | 74 | 78 | 0 | 9 | | Berg Cycles | 149 | 53 | 76 | 20 | 53 | 10 | | MOL - OMV Petrom | 133 | 0 | 0 | 133 | 0 | 11 | | Netia - Vónin | 118 | 31 | 87 | 0 | 31 | 12 | | Carlsberg - Danske Bank | 108 | 90 | 18 | 0 | 90 | 13 | | Kraftwerk Man Machine | 101 | 0 | 0 | 101 | 0 | 14 | | Ferrero - Samruk | 101 | 5 | 0 | 96 | 5 | 15 | | Generali - EDF | 60 | 0 | 0 | 60 | 0 | 16 | | Lierse SK - Pizza Ullo PCTeam | 57 | 0 | 53 | 4 | 0 | 17 | | Novatek-Panarmenian.net | 50 | 0 | 43 | 7 | 0 | 18 | | Podium Ambition | 34 | 28 | 5 | 1 | 28 | 19 | | Newton Foundation | 26 | 0 | 26 | 0 | 0 | 20 | | Team UBS | 25 | 0 | 0 | 25 | 0 | 21 | | Euskaltel | 19 | 0 | 0 | 19 | 0 | 22 | | Compal-Merida | 6 | 6 | 0 | 0 | 6 | 23 | | Minions | 4 | 4 | 0 | 0 | 4 | 24 | | Team Ticos Air Costa Rica | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 25 | | Haute Route - Mavic | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 26 | | Eritel - Sonatrach | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
The projected rankings is really not saying a lot yet and is probably not correct at all when comparing with the final season ranking. But for the fun of it, here you go:
| | | Team | Total | RD | PpRD | Proj | 1 | 7 | | SPAR - Shimano - SCG | 159 | 4 | 39,75 | 5565 | 2 | 11 | | Netia - Vónin | 118 | 4 | 29,5 | 4130 | 3 | 5 | | Fablok - Bank BGZ | 173 | 6 | 28,83 | 4036 | 4 | 12 | | Carlsberg - Danske Bank | 108 | 4 | 27 | 3780 | 5 | 1 | | Meiji - JR East | 255 | 10 | 25,5 | 3570 | 6 | 4 | | Isostar - Adriatic | 192 | 8 | 24 | 3360 | 7 | 2 | | Orange Pro Cycling | 236 | 10 | 23,6 | 3304 | 8 | 3 | | Grieg - Eftel | 220 | 10 | 22 | 3080 | 9 | 6 | | Indosat Ooredoo - ANZ | 166 | 8 | 20,75 | 2905 | 10 | 8 | | Valio - DeLaval | 152 | 8 | 19 | 2660 | 11 | 14 | | Kraftwerk Man Machine | 101 | 6 | 16,83 | 2356 | 12 | 10 | | MOL - OMV Petrom | 133 | 8 | 16,63 | 2328 | 13 | 9 | | Berg Cycles | 149 | 10 | 14,9 | 2086 | 14 | 19 | | Newton Foundation | 26 | 2 | 13 | 1820 | 15 | 13 | | Ferrero - Samruk | 101 | 10 | 10,1 | 1414 | 16 | 15 | | Generali - EDF | 60 | 6 | 10 | 1400 | 17 | 16 | | Lierse SK - Pizza Ullo PCTeam | 57 | 8 | 7,13 | 998 | 18 | 17 | | Novatek-Panarmenian.net | 50 | 8 | 6,25 | 875 | 19 | 18 | | Podium Ambition | 34 | 10 | 3,4 | 476 | 20 | 21 | | Euskaltel | 19 | 6 | 3,17 | 444 | 21 | 20 | | Team UBS | 25 | 8 | 3,13 | 438 | 22 | 22 | | Compal-Merida | 6 | 4 | 1,5 | 210 | 23 | 23 | | Minions | 4 | 4 | 1 | 140 | 24 | 24 | | Team Ticos Air Costa Rica | 1 | 8 | 0,13 | 18 | 25 | 26 | | Haute Route - Mavic | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 26 | 25 | | Eritel - Sonatrach | 0 | 2 | 0 | 0 |
Coming to the individual standings. The only stage race so far delivers Schreurs the top position. Just ahead of the two classic winners Boasson Hagen and Guerao.
Kinoshita up there due to scoring in two races but in fact lower than you would expect with 8 used race days. Froome at 6 race days just 2 points less and also Kump did great in the TdU and is in that area.
Biggest surprise in this top area probably Juul-Jensen, but surely a rider that was hyped hugely and could become a great one for Carlsberg in their PCT debut season.

2nd in Projected Rankings!
Still cool to see that we picked up a decent points tally in our first two races, quite happy with DUC in particular where Vantomme came third.
Thanks for the update Roturn!

Didn't even realize that Colombo had been raced, since I'm no longer looking in the PT results Oh well, thanks for the spoiler, roturn
Anyway, good to see the team up there despite underperforming in both the Down Under Classic and Colombo.
The next many races will be quite interesting for Orange. Sicard and Kennaugh are the riders I really expect solid results from every time, and their seasons don't really start until the Tour of Africa, so - we'll see how it goes. |

A solid start showing that both Lo Cicero and Gautier can be trusted to score points. We will do worse in future months when we have to climb mountains but 8th is a good place to start a least.
Also happy that Manninen have finally scored his first ever points(!). Trusting the future of Finnish cycling to a rider with a grand total of 0 points in 3 season (one as stagiaire) didn't feel quite right

good, but not great - at least TDU makes up for the other Australian fail - but we now have one of our best races all season down...

African teams already struggling, definitely a hard season for hoyle and SN if they don't even attend races.
Ferrero didn't quite hit the ground running despite Modolo scoring nicely but I'm sure they are just getting started for the back-to-back campaign, fingers crossed for Spilak. Isostar at least with a great start, thanks to Kump doing okay. Fablok, Spar and Valio all doing nicely, so far, but of course any predictions are merely guess-work.
Hope I get to follow at least the major pct races a bit.

Good stuff. We're November 3rd, season is over. Sorry for the teams going down. Please apply training and start the 2018 season.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Similar to the PT update, most top teams are already near the front despite the small number of race days. Meiji, Orange, Grieg despite only 2 used RDs for EBH, Fablok and Berg all inside the top ten.
Close to them are don of my favourite pct teams to follow as Isostar (Best scoring team in tour down under!!!), Valio and Netia all had a rather good start into the season.
Biggest surprise to me so far is MOL who are surprisingly high in the rankings due to a great Tour Down Under.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Good stuff, now lets hope we can keep momentum up and aim for that Top 5 in the standings by the end. 2nd highest points shared with TdU winners Orange is the way to go and with Pologne and Eritrea up for February we kinda have to be at the top if our hopes have to succeed.

A good start for us. Still relatively few of EBH race days used, compared to Kinoshita for instance. February should be a good month for us, with Wisniowski also starting his season, so hopefully we can build on this start. Need to score big in the races where we can, as it will be a couple of 0 pointers when we have to race in the mountains. Most teams expected to fight for promotion with a good start, so it looks like it should be a decent fight

Tour Down Under was a race to forget and that ended up harming us in the standings, but we are where we wanted to be. Although still very early, and much still to be able to happen is always good to be within the top 10.

A really good first month for us, pretty much all because of Juul-Jensen. Hope that continues obviously. You never know how PCM AI will respond to anything, but here's to hoping. The cobbles start next month, so that's the next major objective to snag some points.

Only two races in, and two races we didn't really expect to score in so we're some Ng really manly well. Waaaaaaay too early to take anything fro this, but nice to see Netia getting some points on the board early

As expected for us by only racing DUC. Time to unleash TVG and see what happens in February.

Thanks, it's good to be defying the last place predictions so far, even if we're surely dropping down a lot.
