Category: HC185,1 kmterrain: cobbles Netherlands

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2016/profiles/hc/hc_rgp.png

In the Netherlands we find ourselves for one of the last cobblers opportunities at Rheden GP. On the almost 200 kilometers of bumpy and cobbled roads we found two different scenarios. WIth Nuyens a pure cobbler won in 2014, last year a cobbled sprinter took it in Stallaert. Who will follow the Belgian this year, that both former winners are not on the starlist?

Sprinters versus Cobblers is the battle here, because the numerous cobbles are not really the toughest possible. More factors will lead into the winners bowl, the finishing sprint is a downhill one and the flat sections can rip the race apart. Energy stats to consider as always, as well as the acceleration for the attacks and at the end the pure speed:

Of the cobblers it's the often Summerhill vs. the rest. But again, this year we've seen some strong performances especially by Strava and Lierse, so the leaders of those two are ones to watch as well. Especially Strava needs to use their numbers to drop the sprinters.

Otherwise Teunissen might be a great bet today, cause his downhill stat is really handy for a final sprint. A big number should be Nepomicantspellyourname, cause he brings the perfect amount of cobbling strength, sprint and downhill stats together.

Of the real sprinters it's doubtable that Guerao and Appo survive, but in a slow race not impossible. But better odds for that lay on the shoulders of Petit, Harrison and Theuns. Special mentions here for Downhill sprinters van Poppel and Aulas.

The breakaway also always has a chance, even when it's very unlikely.

I'm confident we can get a good result here. Last year BPost won thanks to their amount of great cobblers if I remember correctly, and it was a nice race to report, Strava might be in that role that time around but we'll try to race as well as possible too.

Baugnies is my favourite for this, but I'm rooting for Summerhill and Azteca Wink

Would've been an interesting risk for me to send Vantomme here, kind of annoyed I didn't give it a go actually. Pfft

I'm not 100% sure I am in this race actually, pretty sure I am though, in which case I'm for the breakaway hopes. Pfft

I'm going to go ahead and pick Vanbilsen for the win, although I don't doubt that Summerhill will win. Pfft

Podium would be nice here to stay in. Or maybe just beat Summerhill. But then we'll win so that's always good.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Last chance for Summerhill and probably Azteca, win is needed to have any chance of survival I think (and it might already be out of reach).

Goal race for us so I hope we deliver a bit here and it won't end in a bunch sprint. There more points we gain here the better really. fingers crossed. thanks for preview!

We din't get much from races like these in the recent past. In fact it's the race with the lowest expectations left in our calender... we're ready to not be disappointed.
Thanks for the high-detailed preview, Croatia!

Probably the race Im least looking forward to for the entire season for us. Only here due to the bands, and we really dont have a rider for this type of race (yet anyway Pfft )

Solid result, I'll take it. Who the hell is Horton though Pfft

Congrats Strava on the promotion, very bad news for Azteca I'm afraid on the other hand.

9th and 11th is not enough. Good ride from Joseph but horrible positioning by Vanbilsen in the end.

It will be hard to stay in now, even though Azteca seems to go down now, we still need to leave 4 other teams behind us..

2 in a row for Baugnies now and easily securing the 4th out of 5 goals. Much needed points atm, hopefully this will bring back our mojo.

Thanks for the nice report here Smile

Disappointing outcome for us. Apart from joining the break we hardly tried anything, and the result is a good reflection of that I think. The fact that Sibilla beat Cancellara says enough.

Hard to complain about a podium, but the lack of overwhelming dominance by Summerhill this season will probably cost the team its chance to stay up. Thanks for the report.

Welll the race didn't go our way and 14th place is okay considering how the race turned out, moving on!

Thanks for the race. Trash result from Jacobs, but not our style of race!

Thanks for the report!

Kuroeda did well in this race atleast for him, a solid learning experience that he can build off of going into the future.

Was a good fight by Gatto, Machado and Taramarcaz finishing with the best. At least a reasonable result that could've only been better with a much slower pace and surviving sprinters.

Gratz to Strava and thanks for reporting, Croatia!

Congrats to Strava. However another dissapointing result from Zepuntke Sad
