Tatranska Klasika
C2HC Classic
Hello and welcome to the High Tatras mountain region of Slovakia, for the 2nd edition of the Tatranska Klasika.
A climbers dream and a non-climbers nightmare, this is a mountain classic that caused utter destruction in the peleton during its first edition last year.
The Favourites
| Mo | Sta | Acc | | | Mo | Sta | Acc | Krasnoperov | 80 | 68 | 61 | | Ardila Cano | 76 | 62 | 76 | Sella | 79 | 72 | 73 | | Pozzo | 76 | 70 | 75 | Garby | 79 | 71 | 70 | | Lewis | 76 | 67 | 73 | Antón | 78 | 72 | 76 | | Kung | 76 | 69 | 68 | Pomoshnikov | 78 | 78 | 66 | | Nakane | 76 | 68 | 65 | Hacecký | 77 | 71 | 75 | | Lundberg | 76 | 66 | 65 | Salinas | 77 | 74 | 72 | | Di Gregorio | 75 | 68 | 75 | Battaglin | 77 | 69 | 70 | | Öste-Macdonald | 75 | 65 | 74 | Hirschlein | 77 | 71 | 59 | | Tatarinov | 75 | 71 | 73 | Rienda Segura | 76 | 66 | 77 | | Moreno | 75 | 72 | 72 |
All of the CT's big named climbers are on the startlist, with a good number of them all with a serious case for the victory at the end. Krasnoperov is the outstanding candidate on the list, however he has not really shown this year that he has what it takes to pull of the win. Saying, neither has the likes of Garby, who is on the brink sacking from his Carlsberg team.
Antón has performed very well for Isostar, and the same can be said about Sella and Hacecký through the year so far.
Ardila Cano has a good chance of a Top 10 placing on the stage, as do Battaglin.
A leadership battle could ensue with Xero, as Salinas and Hirschlein both sit together on the favourites list, whilst Rienda Segura chances of a good result could be sacrificed in place of domestique duties to Sella.

Luckily for us Hirschlein sucks and will be dropped before the final climb Thanks for a nice preview, hard to look past Anton for this but a 73-76 climber with a +5 day and a good sprint could be a threat, though the mountain circuit is insane so maybe not. Schomber making his debut for the squad here but doubt he'll get to the second climb with the peloton Top 5 is a minimum here but top 10 sems realistic given how Salinas is going.

I'm not sure Stamina will play too much into this considering how short the classic is. Resistance might have a great effect, at least I hope it does.
Obviously, Garby needs to perform. That's it. Done and dusted, end of story. We brought everyone for him. This is his last chance to deliver this year, so he better do it.

Yay, another race Kung can disappoint me in. Hopefully we can pull off a top 10 here, I'm actually temted to say go for the win so Kung thinks a top 10 is disappointing and use reverse psychology on him to get him to do something in one of his last races this season.
Knowing my squad we'll end up 15th - 20th without a break appearance, that or it will be Schurters annual mountain overperformance but I think he may have already had it earlier this season.

Krasnoperov to win this
Good memories of this race given Der's win (His Serbian in the game btw, just Hungarian in real life), it'll be interesting to see if a break is allowed to win again.
Thanks for the nice preview the hoyle.

A crazy profile where managing your energy seems to be vital. Hope the team protects Hacecky for as long as possible and we get someone in the break, I really do not want to be chasing over this terrain!

Anton would like this really, but my bet is on either Küng or a New Balance rider

With me writing the report, I forgot to comment on my own team... Happy with the display of Baz. Held on well until the final climb, where his inferior stats came into place. I was looking for a Top15 pre-race, so 12th is good. Something to build on next season

Lol Salinas 4th is pretty good, the manner was good too, not dropping a 75 climber is a bit annoying and cost the podium but can't keep up with 80 and 79 MON riders

Krasnoperov I did not see that coming
Feel sorry for Carlsberg, they have a lot of bad luck recently.

79 climbers that have "a severe case of road rash rather a serious injury," yet perform as though they had their legs chopped off at the hip.
