Kandy Cycling Classic
The inaugural edition of this Sri Lankan Classic is a tough 'un, to the liking of many a world-class climber who's turned out here today. No history, no way to tell how it'll go, no titles to defend, and 52km of climbing. Basically, fun!
The profile is the definition of unrelenting, with nary a meter of flat as we go over a couple of tough circuits. We stop with two small climbs and descents before we head onto the first circuit, which should separate the big boys and men from the little boys and more importantly, the break from the back. The first loop goes sharply up, befor down a bit, up a bit, almost the rest of the way down, up a bit, the rest of the way down, before we do it again. Safe to say, I don't envy the riders here. And that's before they do that big one again, back up the smaller rise, but this time it's bigger! We go down, do it again, down, and do it again - now all the way to the top! Oh yeah, and it's 194km and never flat.
Let's take a glance at each team's leader:
Rider | MON | STA | ACC | Rujano | 80 | 72 | 73 | Berard | 76 | 68 | 68 | Pinot | 80 | 76 | 69 | Martin | 82 | 77 | 76 | Chamorro | 78 | 72 | 74 | Dekker | 82 | 78 | 72 | Valls | 79 | 78 | 72 | Contador | 81 | 74 | 68 | Malacarne | 75 | 72 | 69 | Slagter | 78 | 71 | 71 | Brenes | 79 | 73 | 70 | van der Hugenhaben | 77 | 77 | 66 | Nazaret | 80 | 71 | 72 | Shikai | 80 | 74 | 65 | Panayotov | 78 | 71 | 72 | Machado | 84 | 77 | 72 | Marquez | 80 | 70 | 80 | Denifl | 84 | 75 | 65 | Lövkvist | 78 | 74 | 67 | Ricco | 81 | 79 | 72 | Amador | 84 | 77 | 72 | Anacona | 79 | 75 | 61 | Cunego | 80 | 74 | 74 | Cataldo | 78 | 74 | 73 |

Awesome, can't wait for this! I foolishly chose this as a win goal, and Amador should be competitive for the win but obviously Machado/Martin/Dekker/Denifl could easily take it. Thanks for the preview, it will be a lot of fun no doubt.

Hoping for at least a Top 10 here from Valls. Would also be great if our riders got in the breakaway and on the attacks.

I'd be happy if Panayotov finishes the race, don't really care about this one.
Thanks for the preview jandal!

Well, we have no chance. Cassidy's not even here to get in the break. I hope one of the non-84's win just for fun
Thanks Matt.

Yeah, copy that.
Lövkvist has surprised me before so top 10 by him?
Honestly top 15 will be very hard but hopefully Cort Nielsen and Ludvigsson can ride well and get some minor pts as well. |

Wow, Cunego even seems to have a decent podium chance, did expect a stronger field somehow.

I'll be happy if the jersey is shown. A top 10-15 from Anacona would be the goal here.

My money is on Amador while Cataldo will have another hard time to slip into the top10. Hope Maillet can create some havoc in the early steeper parts of the race to weaken the top guys with a more sluggish acceleration.

Three 84ers, oh boy. This will be a tough race to follow. Hope the man, the myth, the Cobra makes it exciting with some attacking. Contador also with decent chances for the win if he risks a bit.

I blame that on lack of sleep

So, at last we meet...
A win here would be much appreciated. I hope that luck tips to our side of the table.
Good luck everyone and thanks for the preview!

Well, 7th, I will definitely take that result looking at the startlist. Shikai beat some pretty good riders and Rujano winning definitely wasn't my pick to win, but nice to see a bit of an upset.

All my riders finished, total heroes
Aside from that, wtf happened lol, those mountain sprints in PCM 15 fooking suck, I'm really sorry for everyone who took their top riders in here. Congrats Miguel, maybe a reaction of the team to the likely relegation...?
