Welcome to the 10th edition of Tirreno - Adriatico, which has always resided in the PT and here both Climbers and Punchers compete for the Overall GC. The editions are usually including a Mountain stage, but this year on paper there are no Mountains, so while the Punchers are here, the Climbers take to France to compete in the Paris - Nice race. We do have some climbers here, hoping the climbing percentages will reach a level they can compete in.

Talking about other races, we have 2 other PT Races going at the same time and while we're racing in Italy. There will be the Paris - Nice race and Classique du Grand-Duché simultaneous to this race. This has caused much pain to the managers and the victor coming out here might have won more than he knows, as planning is key to going out on top in the Tour. We have 3 Summit finishes this year and plenty of strong riders to compete for the victory here :

We do have one of the strongest riders here in the PT field and the transfer season was mostly eyed on his Transfer Details for sure, he decided to stay and now he is here to take the overall GC it is pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/akm.png Edvald Boasson Hagen! His strongest opponent should be the feared pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/tsa.png Trofimov, that has been a threat for years and grabbed several GC's on the nose of everybody else.

Finally the favorites for the opening Prologue! pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/tif.png Panagiotis Vlatos took the prologue in Qatar and will hope to continue those good deeds with another win here in Lido di Camaiore. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/met.png Zmorka obviously stand out and is the biggest favorite, but it's all about who has the best legs when it counts.

Standing out here is obviously pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/aeg.png Ben Swift with a field he can dominate on his best day. We can also see that KBK winner pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/rbh.png Cavendish is here with big confidence coming from Belgium to Italy to continue his form. There are only 2 chances for the sprinters this year and the last is after tough days in the gruppetto struggling to keep the motivation and energy high

Great preview.

If the mountain stat reveals itself as an important one, then Trophymore will clean this.

As to us, we're in it hoping for the odd performance by Machado and breakaways.

Good luck PT managers!

I worried about the mountain ratios of stages 4 and 6, which is why I believe Grand-Duché is a better choice for Kelderman.
Bongiorno hopefully gets to lead here instead, he could become a surprise factor in his home race, just like Felline for some of the less tough stages.

Ciolek is here because I wanted to send Demare to a French race (role playing aspect), maybe he lands a lucky shot on stage 2. At least he has his full train here, and Sütterlin can hopefully continue on his Qatar form to get some ranking points in the prologue.

CountArach
Not sure how Claeys will go with the tougher stages here but this one suited him more than most and on paper he is one of the best puncheurs here so I'm cautiously optimistic. I'm hoping that Keukeleire's improved Hill stat might help him a little to get to the end a bit fresher.

Great preview! Trofimov has many races that suit his characteristics perfectly, and this is certainly one of them. EBH will be tough to defeat though!

Honestly, what was I thinking with this squad? I think this was a planning fuck up or race day clashes made me do stupid things. Enjoy your hell tour Maksimov.

You have to say it is Trofimov vs Hagen again much like it was at Paris Nice last year. That resulted in an epic battle of wills with hagne winning by seven seconds. Skiddypants was third then and could well get that again as long as that suspiciously looking stage 6 is not as mountainous as it appears.

We see now that Ponzi, Gassypants, Bakerboy, My nana and blandy mcbland are in Douchebag classic. This is slightly surprising that the two Italians would skip Tirrano, obviously scared of possibly mountain surprise.

I am also surprised to see Swift here, though excited of course to have the two Brits matching up. Unfortunate for us, the lardy Spanish sprinter and Ciolek that Bos is here and will obviously win the sprints maybe the overall.

The first four races were pretty mediocre on our side, top-5 to get things rollin' here would be nice, or at least... get our jersey in those screenshots!

Stage 4 and 6 both look awesome, think that they are both way more mountainy then the hilly category suggests.

Also the final 30km of the race look very dangerous.

Good preview sgdanny

Looking forward to our PT debut hopefully we'll feature in breaks as well as seeing Lo Cicero give it a go in the sprints on home soil.

Looking for stages here. Hopefully my grel army can get a win despite not being a favorite. Koretzky for a GC top 15 if the mountains are not difficult.

Slightly worried for the mountainous look at stage 4 and 6, but there wasn't much choice but this one for EBH considering his race days. Hopefully he'll be up for it, and a top 5 overall will be good, assuming he'll struggle on stage 4 and 6 compared to especially Trofimov.

The Russian must be the favourite on such a course, but the field is as always stacked, eventhough Ponzi, Bakelants, Ginanni and Van Garderen are all missing. That is kind of surprising seeing the points on offer, and that they all, except Ginanni, have a pretty good mountain stat to go with their great abilities on the hills.

Good preview, and I'm looking forward to the reports, sgdanny!

DubbelDekker
This would've been a good race for Ginanni, but after some consideration decided to send him to Grand-Duché. I'm happy with that choice seeing Hagen, Trofimov, Skujins, Claeys, Bobridge and De Bie all here.

This does mean that our Tirreno expectations are pretty low. But hopefully Monfort, Kangert and Koren can all grab a spot between places 10 and 30.

I'm backing Trofimov to win.

A gamble with Bobridge, but he did well in stage races last year. Not sure how much his MO stat will hurt, but Top-10 has to be the minimum.

Qatar's TT was disastrous, really need Ford/Olman to score a worthy result here! Wippert oobviously won't be a factor. So please give me some luck in the TT.

roturn
Apparently many top puncheur are riding the classic. So despite the very best are still here, De Bie has very good chances to even top5.

Swift additionally points in the sprints, screw the wildcard challenger Pfft .

Could become a fantastic race for my team.

Roman
Hmm, probably should send Sagan here. Frown

Hoping for some breakaway success for Vakoc and some top 10 results in sprints from Howard.

Nice preview!

Perfect race for Kwiatkowski, with his high Hi:Mo ratio. Should be able to get a top 10 at least in the GC. Kebede shouldn't be overlooked either with his 76/76 stats and could be an outsider for a top 10 also if the penultimate stage is really tough.

Also great news for Ponzi seeing some of the better puncheurs have avoided Duché. Hopefully a successful defence of his title should be possible there.

Scorchio
Trofimov way out in front as favorite imo on this course. Surprised to see such top sprinters here, hard to see how they can gather worthwhile PPRD vs. other opportunities throughout the season? Hope for aggressive racing - stages 4, 5 and 6 all look to have great potential for excitement.

In Ciolek's case, after assigning his must-attend races, he had enough RD left for some stage races, but not for a GT, so there wasn't a more profitable way to spend them.
