On the MG calendar since 2008, the Giro del Capo is one of the longest running CT events, that has produced race-winners like Jose Mendes (2014), Pieter Weening (2013), David De la Fuente (2012) or Hassen Ben Nasser (2011). This list already shows it: it's a puncheurs' event on first hand.
Kicking off with two challenging flat stages, we have three hilly stages in total (all of them featuring a flat finish). The hilly circuit by Stellenbosch (stage four) used to be the key stage for the GC.
A short mountain timetrial up Signal Hill will of course be another crucial stage. Any small gains here should be helpful with no other uphill finishes here. Pure climbers may even hope to have a shot at the GC that way.

Defending champion Mendes obviously the man to beat here. Some strong lineup for his team, as also Hirt and Bole could be dark horses for the GC here.. Zeits/Sinkewitz, Acevedo and Rabon should be real threats, too.. Rabon and Molard/Finetto as the most polyvalent GC-contenders maybe.
Last year's 2nd Rosskopf is back again - will he pull another strong result this time? Surely some higher rated riders here: Molard/Passalacqua, Durasek, Ilias, Chérel/Gougeard, Samoilev amongst the most promising puncheurs.
But we do have a startlist also packed with premium climbers: Signorini, Sorensen, Kulhavy, Bagot, Zurita/Weber, Feillu, Koep, Malacarne, Moreno.. especially those with some decent skills on the hills should be considered real threats as well.

As said before - the flat stages look quite challenging. Pure sprinters like Serebriakov, Meyer or Abdallah still aim for at least a victory here.
Punchy sprinters like Bole, Sweeting, Pozdnyakov/Iglinski or Nikolaev will love those profiles though. Those guys won't just aim for the flat, but of course the key stages as well. Depending on how selective the hilly stages will be, those guys definitely can do something GC-wise!

Hoping to do somewhat well here. I broguth some of my best guys here. De Maar and Bochman for the hills. Sabatini and Nielsen for the sprints. Koep for the mountain TT. None of those guys are great, but I will expect nothing and hope for a lot here.

I fked up race planning for this one. Durasek is probably our best bet and I hate not having Zielinski here 
I think the overall winner will be Zeits, but Mendes should not be underestimated. Got no sprinter here, so breaks would be good

We have Zeits, Sinkewitz and Der, all capable of winning, if we don't win this I will be very disappointed, especially with Vastaranta missing.

Zeits should win the GC here, and I genuinly have no clue why anyone would send a rider like Signorini here, last year has proven the hilly stages should be decisive enough.
I hope my team will somehow show itself, Buts and Lobov/Orlov are decent bets for breaks, and Nikolaev is a real outsider in the more difficult stages that may end with a bigger group, but without the likes of Serebriakov and Meyer.

Molard for a top 5 or a podium please, Passalacqua is stronger on paper but he proved that he can't really do much in these kinds of races. Plus he can't climb for shit. Molard on the other hand is slightly overperforming so far so I have some expectations from his side.
Zeits could win here after a disappointing start to his season, let's see what happens, I'm expecting a big AI fuckup here though. Thanks tsmoha/SN

This one gotta be for Mendes. Interesting tactic by Indosat sending 2 premium climbers here aswell.
Hoping for Kulhavi to maybe snag a top 5 here if he can somewhat take advantage of his great dh and the mountain TT.

Well, I prefer it when my sprinters try, but I'm happy with the unexpected top 10 from De Maar. Hopefully that means he'll be aggressive in the hills.

That's one hell of a start to this race. Serebriakov should have won with ease, and so he did. 1-2 is more than expected though 
Rabon also strong, he may well be one of the top contenders for the GC. Hopefully the AI doesn't mess up another time

Can we end this race right now? 9th and 10th in the GC would be awesome.
Good effort by Petrovski, and Buts keeps surprising, whilst Nikolaev decides sprinting isn't fun anymore... Oh well...
