Duo Differdange Discussion

We're in Luxembourg for a unique event. The duo timetrial. Last year's continental duo timetrial was held in Normandy, France. Volkswagen took the win with the Schädlich - Reus combo. The first is now in the Pro Tour but the latter is here again but for another team..
44,6 km starting in Esch sur Alzette to Differdange. The route is flat without any notable hills.
 Oz Cycling Project are a team focusing on timetrials and they bring a very strong duo. World Champion Rogers is accompanied by Ford. They should definatly be the favourites for the win.
Together with  ING, who have Rogers arch rival Zabriskie, that is. Captain America has Van Winden by his side. Coming over from Jack Wolfskin, he definatly knows how to handle these team riders against the clock.
These two are a notch above the rest and should fight eachother for the first two places. The fight for the last podium spot could be very exciting aswell.
First of three podium contenders is  UPC. Reus won here last year. His current mate Elijzen is probably weaker as last year's Schädlich but they are still a very strong team.
As should  Bouygues with Martin and Mottin. Neither of them has raced this race before but they are about equally strong, which which should play in their favour.
 Jaguar's pair Stannard - Tennant rode this race together last year aswell. They became third and want to do better this time around. That looks incredibly hard though.
Rogers isn't the only world champion here as Boom is racing aswell. He has Van Aelbroeck on his side to defend the colours of  Rothaus. On paper, a top 5 will be tough but who knows they can defeat one of the above teams on a good day.
Luckily for everybody thinking about winning here,  Tinkoff hasn't brought their strongest timetrialer Kritskiy. But with Ovechkin and Kiryienka, they should still get a good result. Kiryienk was 2nd last year but had Ignatiev on his side back then.
 Metinvest have a strong TTT squad but they lack these two outstanding timetrialist who would challenge for the podium here. Still, Popkov and Ma should be a lock for the top 10.
 Mobil and  Ekspla are the two C2 teams present. With Criel - Mojica and Joeaar - Hutchings respectively, they are not strong enough to challenge to teams from the C1. But it could turn out to be a very intresting fight for the first placed C2 team.
Then there is  Amex. They took a huge gamble by bringing Eisel and Stoltz. Two beasts on the flat but they are not that good on a timetrial bike. The chance that this gamble pays off is really small. Atleast they will have the support from the crowd as Stoltz is the only Luxembourger present.

No matter what rank I guess we will get a few points here.
How exactly does the rankings work here? Will even the last still get points here due to the small amount of riders?

I really hope for a win, though anything less than a top 2 finish would be a huge failure. This should hopefully kickstart my promotion bid, since we haven't exactly been performing as hoped until now.

We are not top5 candidates, but i picked this race as sure point haul only, so at least something more than last would be good. 
I expect Oz to win in front of ING.

Wow, small field - should have put a team in.
Rooting for Oz, would love to see them take this - the TT kings of the PCT division? Paid off with Ford and Olman at Windhoek.

I was compelled to bring my duo Plaza-Nicácio (78/76) here, but with the high level of TTing in the PCT, I figured it was best to skip this one. They would fighting with Rothaus for 6th so I think it wasn't a bad decision.
But this has a few good battles to be fought. Oz should take this but ING isn't that far from them in terms of TT prowess.

And thanks for report Spilak, hard to entertain this race, because of its type.
Our Duo finishing 8th is what i expected, at least some minor easy points. And our April is over, resume of racing not sooner than GP Moscow in May....

Congrats to Tsmoha, Rogers and Ford on a expected and often hard to achieve win.
The AMEXpc duo finished last, also as predicted. Not a surprise after I made the planner error of not remembering this was a Time Trial. The good news is that the race was under subscribed and our duo of Bernhard Eisel and Yannick Stoltz finished 11th and netted 12 points.
If I had sent our best TT guys Patrick Gretsch and Aggrey Sebright we would have skyrocketed up to 7th or 8th place. In the end we may have lost 12 to 16 points.
I dealy hope those 12-16 points do not haunt us at season's end.
With one race left in April AMEX has already earned 265 points over 4 race days for an average of 66 points per race day. We also feel confident our final April race - Oestentschland Tour - will generate a strong point total.
After dismal success in January & February, AMEX has rallied strongly in March and April. Success over the remainder of the season will fall to our Punchuers and Sprinters and those results ae not by any means guaranteed.
With all of out season's goals still ahead of us our future is still out of focus.

Nice 6th for me here. As you said something around this was expected. And so close to the top 5 is a bit unlucky of course but behing s.t. with UPC was not expected before.
32 points is shibby enough for me here. Quite easy points. |
