Is this all an Evonik plan to put PHL in the early breakaway on stage 19 or 20!?
Another crazy stage. Mas and Cras now looking like top 10 finishers, maybe even more. AHJ also with a great fight. Those KoM sprints cost a lot, but limiting his losses afterwards well. Sitting 4th is surreal. Looking at the gaps, he will drop a long way on the next two stages with only 6 minutes down to 15th, but just to sit 4th is crazy.
Definitely feel a lot for the «proper» GC guys and their managers. Kind of hope to see stage 19 and 20 give us a more normal looking GC, but still of it does, this Tour has stage wise been almost a nothing race for many very strong GC riders.
Thank you for another stellar report, UU, and congratulations to SN! |

Oh boy. Let’s hope this GC fixes itself over the last stages, because this is just awful.

Ridiculous.
Good for Cras obviously but not good for a balanced game. As others expected, the early Kudus gap somehow ruined all following AI decisions.
Tomorrow likely will move it now into realism I expect. But still, must be one of the hardest GTs to report. |

I should've kept Pogacar at 80 MO

Happy to see Cort mix it up in the break and getting a top 10, but ridiculous of course to see the changes so high up in the GC, and also that the pelotong even allowed a situation where we could have had a change in the lead. Feel for Evonik and other teams, but it also begs the question of what we will see on the final days here. Seems like everything can happen.

The race is indeed a mess now. Aular back so far in GC hopefully means he finally joins a succesful break as well. It's of course great for Lopez Nolasco to see him top-10 in GC now, but he looked a bit tired at the end of the stage, also probably because of a useless attack the day before and always being the only rider from our team in the breakaway. Hopefully we get some real scoring in the final days.
Thanks for the greatly written reports, Ulrich!

This is the worst case scenario for us so far, as well. Two more stages to at least make up some ground for McNulty. Thanks for the great reports and congrats to the lucky ones! |

Pro Breakaway Manager! Basically just ride away, get the win, peloton is doing nothing once again, just get your 10 mins advantage. Surely has to be the absolute worst GT AI in the history of PCMs.
Surely I am (so far!) on the lucky end of all of this, as Kudus is still leading comfortably, I should be happy about that. But honestly I am much more sad about this AI behaviour than about possible first ever GT victory in the history of my team. If it ends up like this, rather than an "earned victory," it would be more like a "given victory." I imagined it differently when investing so much into Kudus to build him into a GT win contender.
In any case, thank you for the reports and congratulations to all those who are also lucky in this madness.

Sivakov kicked out of the top10 means he has a big chance of winning this year's Tour de France!!!

Haha, AHJ is a freak! Getting into the breakaway again was crazy. Unfortunate he couldn’t score KoM points and use the opportunity without Mas hanging around. If he gets a final chance in the breakaway tomorrow, I will be surprised of he has any energy to score points. GC wise and stage wise it was very much expected he would drop big. A top 20 now looks difficult, but what a Tour he has given us. A race full of heroics, can’t fault him at all whatever happens on the final day of climbing.
Thank you for another very nice report, UU! And congratulations on another stage win, Roman. Sitting in yellow and not needing to do any work before the decisive moment, felt like the key there vs. PHL. |

Thank you for the great reports throughout!!
Today was the stage the race needed after the last week or so. Shikai climbing back up to 7th, although he should hopefully push harder to get Cras in 6th.
Hopefully 2 solid stages to finish us here

Glad stage 19 normalized things a bit.
Warchol is obviously paying for his earlier efforts, but he’s fighting like a champ.

Another disastrous ai for our team. First time aular does something noteworthy in nineteen days, and it's dropping his teammate who is top 10 in GC
One more stage for him to save the race, and perhaps our season.

Been wondering when my team was actually gonna do something. Was pretty confused when my team had zero breakaway representation on stage 18 despite our best guy being 12th overall and nothing else to work for, especially when almost every team at least had one guy there.
But Carthy once again showed a ton of courage late in a GT with his performance on stage 19. It didn't work out for him, but the McCarthy attack was still very memorable, and it helped him move up a lot of places to 8th, which is respectable. Time wise, though, spots 7-19 are still very much in flux for stage 20 given the breakaway AI, so I'm not really counting on anything else yet. We'll see how tomorrow goes.
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy

Finally somehow more reasonable action with a nice duel of the strongest for the win. Have to be happy with this nice stage win. What a dream stuff really.
Thanks a lot again for a great report, Ulrich.
Just one more mountain stage now, come on...
