It is here! The race of the season with most excitement for us, as this one should really suit Anderberg. Hoping for an overperformance and a really strong result here! Per for the win, with Pedersen and Wisniowski on the podium.

Thank you for the preview thread, really looking forward to the racing Grin

tastasol
It feels like a race that's perfectly suited to Pedersen, with the flat cobbles, the many sectors, flat finish and the length. He hasn't quite managed to find the success formula in this race still, but hopefully this is the year. Not necessarily an easy race this for a favourite, but he just have to either wait for the sprint or pick his chance when it comes.

Thanks for the thread, Ulrich. To answer the questions I believe Pedersen will win in a small group sprint with Anderberg being the surprise overperformer also getting on the podium.

Personally I hope Tiller will be able to conserve his form from RVV and get another strong monument result. I'm looking forward to the racing!

Fabianski
Thanks for the preview. I could well see a Pedersen vs. Per battle for the win, and unless Pedersen does a Franceville-like mid-range attack, he should make the RvV-PR double. And I do hope that Theuns will overperform, but Anderberg is more likely to do so.

For Theuns, the Top 15 are the minimum goal again, but after he did pretty bad in the monument that suits him far better, I'm hoping for better legs and team support here. Top 10 would be great, and if the race isn't too hard and he gets to the line with a small group, well, he still is a decent sprinter...

Good luck to all!

Winner will be Neilands from a midrange attack - of course.

Not the best Polanc cobbles but i expect my depth scoring to be improved here compared to previous classics.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Had a lot of fun reporting this last year can't wait to see it unfold!

Thanks for the preview. Can't deny that I'm dreaming of a win, but obviously Pedersen is the favorite. A great result in every Per race is really a must for us though, especially in a monument. Just gotta hope for the best. He's a former winner, so we know he can perform. Need good daily form and solid strategy.

Who will win?

More heart than mind, but I think Wisniowski has one big result in him and he uses it here and he probably does it with an attack at some point.

Surprise overperformer?

Hopefully my guy Ivan Siric continues his improved cobbled campaign Pfft

Thanks for the preview Smile

Thanks for the preview, Ulrich. For us a similar result to RvV would be great. My guess goes to Pedersen, although Per has definitely shown he's in great form as well. Good luck to all!

Thanks to UU for the preview, I like the approach!

As Pedersen is the best in nearly every stat it's clear he won't take the win.
I'll go with Per from a late attack then with Theuns being the surprise overperformer in the sprint of the chasers.

You know what, I'm rooting for Spengler here!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Finishing 10th out of a 11 men group sprint never feels too satisfying but with this profile, i can live with a 10th place, particularly with neilands having a good ride as well to finish 16th.

Tactically, I'm unsure what to think of this race from an Evonik POV. Kurianov in the morning break was a good choice imo. Afterwards, both Neilands and Polanc seemed a bit unattentive with splits and had to work too much and too early because of that. The rest of the team seemed to be with Neilands in the first bigger split we missed but apparently didnt do the work. I guess I'm okay with that with Polanc ahead but maybe not ideal. I would have liked to see someone like Nihal Silva helping Siric with the chase there but Neilands managed to come back again due to other teams / luck so yeah.

Congrats tasta, sounds like he found the right formula for the victory!

Great report, thanks for that!

Thrilling report! Thanks, UU.

And thanks, knockout. It seems like he indeed found the formula today. Liked the way we kept it under control till the favourites started moving. Seeing the RvV and Roubaix now, it seems like Tiller has managed to take that last step. Perhaps a bit because he's a leader himself, but that's probably the bit where we looked vulnerable today - when Pedersen got on the wrong part of the split. Luckily he managed to get back with some help from Per.

Thought he left it too late in the end, but it was perfectly timed. A truly stunning double for us, and some real MG greatness for Pedersen now with monument wins in MSR, RvV and Roubaix. Really proud to see him pull that off. Our season can only to downwards from here, and probably will as well, but the season it's definitely a big success with these results now lately.

Well, we suck at monuments. 3/3 where we failed to get even just a measly Top 10. No clue why Theuns does his worst races when it matters most, but well, he still easily meets the expectations we had pre-season. It's just RvV and Roubaix that didn't go our way, which I don't appreciate obviously. Paprstka solid again, the rest of the team mostly anonymous (nice to see Colombo in the break, though).

Congrats to Grieg, guess Pedersen is the most logical winner here. Great for him to get the double, definitely making him an MG legend now.

Thanks for the report.

baseballlover312
Definitely a bit of a disappointment there, even though only Altur is someone I think Per should finish in front of. Just bad timing I guess. Unfortunately the difference between second or third and fifth in a monument is pretty big.

At some point I need to do a deep dive into my lack of depth too. I feel like, looking at the preview, my team is of pretty similar strength to some teams that consistently place multiple guys in the top 15-35, while we're constantly at places 40+ with similar riders. Something I'll have to consider in planning going forward because those points matter at this level.

Not sure where we go from here, with Per's season almost over. We needed a big result to get any sense of momentum in the relegation fight, and we didn't get it. Looking back on the downswing again.

Thank you for the terrific report and congrats to tastasol!

For whatever reason the game simply doesn't like Siric in Roubaix like it does in the other cobbled classics. After having great position in all the races, here he was always in the wrong spot. Considering all the difficulties I think 15th is a decent result given our lower expectations. If nothing else we know which monument we prefer! Pfft

Congrats to tastasol, looks like Pedersen's results are gonna carry you to a much better season this year. And thanks to Ulrich for another quality report Smile

Anderberg being in contention for the win the whole way makes it a good race for him, impossible to ask for more, eventhough I will keep dreaming for more whenever he lines up for Roubaix Grin Pfft

Big, big win by Pedersen, what a statement arter last year’s poor season, now winning both monuments. Congratulations, tastasol! Also cool to see Wisniowski on the podium, maybe he is about to start Assa’s season properly.

Of course a big thank you for the report, UU!

Wow, pretty perfect race from us! Loved to see the double attack from Vermeersch and Schreurs (after Florian tried a similar thing in RVV) and it worked out amazingly with both of them in the Top 20. Surely have to be happy with that GrinGrin

Happy with Pedersen doing the double as well, cool to see and congrats tasta! Thanks for the awesome report UU!!
