No expectations for results here, meaning we really should be joining breakaways.

Coquard and Degenkolb must be the favourites, but I'm also curious to see Swift again and maybe even Holloway and Kemboi. If Holloway is "allowed" to sprint, he showed last year he's brilliant for PCM18. Even with the decline, his flat and resistance is kind of unique, and clearly brilliant for this game, and then there's also Kemboi who is very similar.

Can only hope so, but no preview should out does not usually bode well!

Otherwise will be hoping Kneisky can get some breakaway bonus seconds!

I think the key last season for Holloway was he was a good enough pure sprinter to get in the picture and then his back up stats meant he started every sprint in better shape than the rest. Not sure he and Kemboi are good enough sprinters in this race to get in the picture but if the game lets them play they will get consistent results.

Oooh! It looked good with 1km left but 7th is not really good enough for us this season, Ahlstrand needs to overperform over and over again!

I have no idea how Grosu pulled that off. No team and he seemed to be struggling to decide which wheels is best to follow.

The first stage is definitely the best stage to win since it means two distinctive jerseys as well so I'm more than pleased with Grosu taking this one. And maybe, who knows, keeping the title might not be that far fetched.

Don't steal me 7th place, settle for 8th for nowCool
Swift was unable to compete for victory despite a very good position. Still, it is still positive especially because Silvestre also ended up in the top places.

Thanks for the great in-depth preview!

Howard probably won't repeat his stage win this year, but the opening stage went quite well again. He had a good position into the sprint and while it always hurts to miss the Top-5 (when it's close), it's also always good to snatch bonus seconds on regular base.

Well that went very well! Aside from the first good sign of Holloway getting into the mix, as soon as it was clear he was still in the draft, on Vanderbiest's wheel with 1km to go, I had high hopes that a fast finish could follow.

I fear it could be a frustrating season for anyone reliant on sprint points, with the risk of not sprinting (Coquard) or the designated leadout not working (Degenkolb). But subjectively, Holloway breaking into the 2nd tier of sprinters, to go for bonus seconds, could be great news for Vesuvio's best result here since Swift won in 2015. (20th, 21st, 19th and 58th since then)

Thanks for the report Fabianski! You've got far more patience than I do in covering the early breakaway moves, and the breakdown of the final kilometre was excellent!

Good start for my team with 4th. Thought he would struggle backwards in the end there.

Not ideal for Coquard, Degenkolb here. But after one day it might also be daily form. Will be more interesting to see which trains are added tomorrow as this was not all I guess.

Fantastic start of the race for Evonik. Not only because those 33 points that MVS already bagged on this stage are very nice to have but also because MVS is even more reliant on getting lots of bonus seconds to get a top 10 GC results despite his PRL.

Also very good to see that the rest of the team - particularly Chavanne and Stoltz - seemed to be very well positioned in the top 50 of the peleton. Wasnt important on this stage because the jury is a bunch of Mitch McConnells who refuse to do their job but could be crucial on later stages.

Grosu and Van Stayen on 1 and 2 - clearly a race for punchy sprinters Grin

Just as crap as last season, and also not working for the best trains.

I’m happy I saved a lot of wage cap from leadouts this year.

Yeah, I think there's not much that can be done to make PCM 18 sprints more fair for MG. The game is just designed the way it is. Not looking forward to having to rely on AKA this year, but now in the second season I knew the risks already.

I personally am deciding to just enjoy the races and reports for what they are and not concern myself with how the AI "should" work anymore.

Very fun read as an outsider Fabianski!

Happy with the start and Pedersen getting in the mix in the sprints, though I hope that doesn't mean we won't try to get in any breaks this week. Congrats on the win, Alex!

Good stuff by Yzeiraj to get out up front and join the breakaway. Unfortunately no bonus seconds, but that will always be difficult due to his sprint stat.

Grosu clearly enjoys Qatar, congratulations, alexkr00!

I hope we try to attack soon

Great to see my team positioned well in the shot over the peloton (great that was included in the report!). Only a shame my sprinter finished last of my team. Hope Hsu will at least try from now on. Else some attacks would be great!

Going to be happy days when Bewley declines further so he doesn't need a train. Pfft

Great effort in the break by the GOAT Christophe Laporte, this is what we should be aiming for throughout this race. And obviously a great report Fab.

Great start for Arashiro. Just the kind of attacking move I'd hope for in a race where we have no ambitions. Leading the U25 competition is a nice bonus as well, and the longer we can do that, the better for our points.

What a sprint by Degenkolb! I'm very happy for Scorchio, representing South America in the PT Smile Also, MGUCI should really have a talk with the officials in Qatar, those car and motorbike drivers are really nuts Pfft
