Tour de France Discussion
Yellow Jersey
Nice couple of stages here, Machado hanging on and Galiev getting on the KOM fight, Novak still there for the U25 race. This last one not so well, 3 riders in the breakaway but they all fell back really fast but signs are promising.

Wow, that was very close from Pruus! Didn't really believe in neither his or Vangstad's chances when seeing the riders present up front, but he proved really strong and must have been on a great day too. No shame missing the win for a stronger rider, as Smit undoubtedly was the strongest of the trio. Congratulations, SN!

I really like that we're this active trying to be involved in the breakaways. Our team makes it difficult to create wins from it, but having such stages with a rider up front fighting for stage honors is very exciting.

Great preview and reporting so far.
This can not really be said about the performance of my team. Denifl is about where it could be expected, wish he hadn't lost time in the first hilly stage. His first Tour de France is his last race before declining.
It's nice to see Bouhanni getting some top 10s. What I do not understand is that my team is not bothered with joining the break at all. But by now I'm kind of used to it, since this seems to be a trend all season. So many potential points lost this way.

Quite awesome to see Sicard animate the race like this. However, if the plan was to gain time in the hilly terrain, it’s not been too succesful + Sicard has spent a lot of energy.

We’ll see.

Exciting stage 9. Both in the break and in the peloton.

For a moment it looked (from the images) as though Stauff could end up taking the win, but Demare was in a league of his own. Still 3rd is a very good result for Stauff here. He'll end up outscoring Lecuisinier if he continues like this before leaving the race. Beyond 150 points by now I suspect...

I hope he can continue his form tomorrow for a final dash before we are likely to see him leave the race.

Working all day for 45th and not even participating...excellent...not like being a top2 sprinter here.

Demaré back on track. When he times it like he did today, he just look miles better than the rest.

Solid day for us, the guys sitting closely around Phinney just behind the sprinters. Should be another easy day tomorrow.

What is going on with Groenewegen? Massively underachieving so far.
Demare of course in a league of his own. Congrats cio on creating that man in a lab, he is insane.

Thanks for the report!

Ah, finally Ricki behaves like a 75k sprinter! Shame he's far far more expensive than a 75k sprinter Pfft This is also why he doesn't get to lead often since we left the CT. Much better, frankly i'm impressed he wasn't already eliminated on the early climbs

Quite disappointed that we tried to make a train without having any suitable third man for it. Was obviously gonna end badly for us.

Congrats cio. Glad to see hilly sprinters still capable in some instances after what MVS and Kump have shown at other points of the season.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

He's just a pre-stage favorite... The entire season he overperformed massively when he wasn't the pre-stage favorite. This is what happens when you own the favorites.

In such a field, there's no stopping Demare on those stages when he or his team don't mess up. Congratulations, cio!

And we're continuing our breakaway streak Grin Well done by Walsleben to be present, and keeping up on the early hills too, even winning a KoM sprint.

YESSSS!! Shock

That's how you return after the morale dip of losing to the route once and to the break yesterday. A great team effort to set him up in a position where Demare first was the smartest, and then the strongest.

Thank you everyone!

Congrats SotD on a decent third place.
I'm sorry roturn that you got the short end of the stick here.
Thanks tastasol, you really never know if he can show his full potential.
Thank you Eden, it was a long and expensive road, but absolutely worth it.
DD, I can't wait for Bewley to decline so there won't be any accurate comparisons left anymore... Pfft
THANK YOU TMM, and sorry that you couldn't benefit as much yourself. That looked like it has a lot of potential tomorrow though.
Thank you very much knockout for not holding a grudge (at least publicly), and at least P-T and Tasmania are Demare-free for you. Smile
Thanks ember too, I'm still very happy the route was deterring enough. I'm not sure a perfect storm like this will happen again next season, but we'll keep coming here and try!

49 points to Sicard, 60 to Phinney (who will win the TT though, so we can already put that at 35), 74 to Madrazo.
We need one more reeled in breakaway and hopefully a podium place tomorrow, and then we need big and strong breaks to deny those three the points to get back into contention, especially Phinney with the yellow buff as well.
Champs-Elysées should be a bunch sprint, but I can't rely on the remaining flat stage 16 and hilly stage 17 to be as well, so we need to make use of the opportunity tomorrow and then send Arndt etc. up the road to make things as hard as possible for the climbers.

You remind me that i should cheer against Demare because of possible implications on the OVR formula for hilly sprinters Pfft

But nah, i like hilly sprinters and as much as i like to embrace a rivalry between Evonik and Puma, the difference in the ranking is just waaayyy too much this year to hold much of a grudge against Demare Wink

And the difference in Tour de France stage wins is zero now Wink

Congratulations roturn! Great to see Groenwegen do what we all know he's capable of.

Congrats roturn! Groenewegen found the perfect wheel this time, and with Demaré slightly failing it was finally his time. Looked like another good day for us. Excited for the coming stages now. My big hope would be a group with about 5-10 riders coming to the finish together with Phinney winning the sprint and then a TT win to get some advantage before Tourmalet. Easily how it could play out in real life, but not so sure with PCM. Fingers crossed!
