Monterrey TTT
Monterrey - Monterrey 55.8 km
Welcome to the 6th edition of Monterrey ITT, constantly on the calendar since 2013. Last year Generali won the race in front of Team UBS with a narrow margin of just 4”, the defending champions are back attempting to win the race for the third time in a row, being the first team to win the race three times.
The only Mexican Flavio De Luna secures World Cycling Centre to be the spectator favourite team
Favorites
The race is first and foremost about tempo riders and to look for possible winners we must focused primarily at that, but it is far from a flat route and must believe that riders with better climbers should have a small advantage over similar teams without.
To do so I have made some analyses to looks for teams with the best tempo riders, with focus on the better four combined with total debt, but also with an eye on climbing.
I came up with this ranking list:
| | | TT | Climb | Rank | | Generali - EDF | | 78 | 68 | 78 | | cycleYorkshire | | 78 | 64 | 78 | | Fablok - Bank BGZ | | 76 | 67 | 77 | | Team Reddit | | 76 | 62 | 76 | | Novatek-Panarmenian.net | | 75 | 68 | 76 | | Andorra Project - InGamba | | 75 | 65 | 76 | | Carlsberg - Danske Bank | | 75 | 65 | 75 | | Adastra - Argon 18 | | 75 | 66 | 75 | | World Cycling Centre | | 74 | 69 | 75 | | Kulczyk - DMTEX | | 75 | 64 | 75 | | Team Popo4Ever p/b Nemiroff | | 74 | 67 | 75 | | Minions | | 73 | 69 | 75 | | Swisslion Cycling Team | | 74 | 66 | 74 | | Sauber Petronas Racing | | 74 | 64 | 74 | | Signal Iduna | | 68 | 65 | 69 | | Newton Foundation | | 65 | 67 | 67 |
This is a list of the best 15 TT specialists:
Zmorka | 82 | Durbridge | 81 | Ford | 81 | Sergent | 80 | Viennet | 80 | Ignatiev | 79 | Viviani | 79 | Mottin | 79 | Goldstein | 79 | Robert | 79 | Olman | 79 | Stannard | 79 | Koren | 78 | Reus | 78 | Martin | 78 |

I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m a bit excited for a TTT - after Tami’s amazing Copenhagen report!
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Will second that!
And from a biased point of view, I'm hoping for cycleYorkshire to take the win as long as our team won't have the chance to take the third Monterrey title, no one else should take it (I'm sorry, Generali)

I really thought Swisslion had a stronger squad for this race...

Super excited, last season Monterrey were the easiest point's I've got but this season we're targetting big ones with a really strong team.

Top ten would be nice, having a semi-decent TTT squad for once. No Úran obviously, so maybe slightly weaker than our second place in Vancouver.

I expect absolutely nothing. Don't have enough depth.

I'd love to win this one! However, the climbs may be too much for us here even if we've brought a very good setup. I think Generali are the clear favourites unfortunately for you

Holy crap, what a surprise!!!
Never thought I had any chance to win this, thought we wouldn't even get a top 5 due to the climbs here. No idea how we pulled this off, but this is probably the biggest shock of our season so far. Seems like investing in a cheap TTT squad was a good idea
Thanks for making my day Tamijo!

Awesome!! 5th is a massive result, with a time that would be winner last year, settling in in the middle of the PCT team will be a big boost of points and a bigger one of motivation, really THE TTT CT team of the season I think
Congratz Vien and thanks for the brilliant report Tamijo!

Not too bad. Shame to lose out after a very strong (maybe too strong) start but tenth is decent given only five real TT specialists.
Congrats Vien and thanks for the report Tamijo

11th is better than we expected as we were simply hoping for points, that said being just 10 seconds off of 7th is a little disappointing.

No idea why we thought it was a good idea to come here
Only 2 race days wasted I guess
