Happy to let both of mine go to suiting and friendly teams rather than vultures. Team legend Atkins hurt but unfortunately he was a victim of the Albini steal. I just hope his children will be okay with moving, they had such good friends at home! Cool to see the Kiwi champion at a home team though, and I hope Majka can do well for Aviva - he was a victim of crappy scouting. Will keep an eye on them both

Thanks, jandal! I'm extremely pleased about Majka, my first potential 7 rider, a true captain, and for a great wage. Back when I first contacted you I was prepared to offer far more, a really hostile steal, I didn't see any other option. But with Bunzl disbanding I have the opportunity to hire good British riders and it allowed me to make such a passive steal bid, fully prepared that you'd keep him or that I'd be outbid. Sorry you couldn't hold onto him!

If the only 81 puncheur in the game, "home hero" for your team, with this freaking statline, isn't worthy of 1,5k, i don't know how you want to spend your money

I’m honestly surprised people didn’t bid more on Kwiat, there was no way I could afford to keep him even if he stayed st the same wage.
Whoever bid on Spagnoli however... I’d be looking out next steals.

Well, I calculated it. I would give around 1,3k-1,4k so I would lose anyway. Even with 1,5k I would have to give more . I might actually had a chance to grab Majka, but still. Again it would be around 1,3k-1,4k. If 1,3k I would lose either way
I never tried steals, didn't try this time, and won't in future
<Pssst! Having around 800 for 7 riders with team I would have isn't the best investment even with Majka/Kwiatkowski duo> |

So am I. I pretty much knew you wouldn't be able to keep him, I saw the budget you had. Had I not tried three big steals and concentrated on one or two, I would have definitely bid more.

Something for people to watch out for; while I was doing my renewals, I suddenly realised that one of my dev team riders has risen to an AVG of 72.1 and is no longer eligible by one decimal point. Lucky I had some of the others on WAIT after round one 
PS: Apologies for my inactivity, it's been a busy couple of weeks for me. Looking forward to seeing what's happened in my absence!

What would you guys think of some kind of achievement system influencing the budget besides the already existent variables?
Here is how it would look like you would get fixed bonusses for achieving tasks such as: Win a stage in a WT race, win a KoM jersey, win a classic.
The tasks would either be the same for all teams or you get to choose from several options (more stage race or classics focussed for example).
For CT teams the bonusses would be the same for all teams, WT teams the achievable focusses will differ from team strength(based on the rankings of the season before). Smaller teams could get higher bonusses, as for the bigger teams the sponsors already expect big results. |

I would not be opposed to that idea, given that a crash or bad luck can turn a goal race into a nightmare, and since there's only 3 it can get ugly real fast. If it's not too time consuming for you I'd be up for it.
Maybe add sponsor nationality as a factor as well?
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

It would not really be much extra effort for me. I'd just have to collect the results earlier for the archive file.
I have thought previously about a way to somehow include sponsor nationality, but I think it's not possible to find a fair way to do that, due to the differences between countries & regions. |

CT teams are theoretically much more on one level, as the budget differences aren't that big and with new teams it's not so easy to fairly determine the strength of CT teams, as they weren't included in last season's ranking.
Also in CT there is much more variability when doing race planning, so there is also not much difference in the difficulty of the achievability for different teams. |

I dont like the idea. Dont quite have any super strong arguments yet for why but my gut feeling is that i dont like it. A few random thoughts:
1) If any division should be more individual adjustable then its the CT division. Its possible to make a race selection quite individual so why should there be any punishment for doing so (as in: you cant achieve these 5 classic related achievements).
2) i dont think teams should be punished for focussing on certain terrains. KoM + points jersey and classic achievements each strongly favor certain kind of team focusses and teams that dont want to build around these focusses would be punished to some extent and i dont think its fair. Teams ignoring certain terrains (e.g. mountains) are already punished enough by limiting their ranking points potential.
3) i believe it is quite difficult to balance for different focusses and also especially if you have harder achievements for previously better teams.
4) i think the harder achievements for better teams would mainly punish rebuilding / already weakened teams like Liberty in the season after the Purito departure. Returning top teams like CarbonSports or Argos this season could do quite well if they dont decide to weaken their teams voluntarily for whatever season while a team likepost Purito Liberty or post-stealmania Gazprom would arguably be hurt the most by it and i dont think that those shoud suffer
5) it is too late to implement it for this year imo because such information surely would have impacted steals and renewals quite a bit. E.g. im gonna wait with the final renewals round a few more days until i know more about this (would have done so right now otherwise) because i surely would have tried to renew Alberto if i would have known that "Finish a GT inside the top X", "win X GT stages" or " Wear a GT leader jersey" (or however said achievements could look) would give extra money. Might as well discuss this during the season for next season but coming up with a good solution now on the fly might be difficult.

Wouldn't it be easier to just allow managers to select more goal races? Maybe a variable number between 3 and 10, depending on how much people want to spread their risk/reward?

+3, sounds like a straightforward solution, and knockout is right, anything like this probably shouldn't be implemented this season since the transfer season has already technically started.
