The overall quality of reporters is so high at this point, really looking forward to the season ahead.
Just not this race  (although maybe Baugnies or Mullen can make a mad dash for it with a late attack)

Not sure what to expect. If Holloway continues his positioning trend from last season it'll be hard to get a good result here. Maybe a late attack by Kuznetsov could do something as well, so let's see. Excited for this season

Good luck to all teams starting their season here, although I am very aware that luck surely won't be spread equally for everyone.
In a continuation of an established tradition by now, we especially support old Puma riders and their teams.
Particular focus therefore is on Sebastian Lander who should hope for a fast race and a good wheel, Adam Blythe who would like to support potential winner Degenkolb to propel Iberia into an early season lead, and last year's stagiare Sean McKenna who can probably only cross his fingers for Roelandts up front.

Already our win goal here, I really hope Guerao can repeat his success from last year. I brought the best possible support I could bring for him, but it looks Guerao might not even get a sprint train.

I'll definitely be dissapointed if Lo Cicero is unable to pull out a big result here. The stage is made perfectly for him and we've brought a crazy sprint train for him.
The sprint train should look something like this
Lo Cicero - Petit - Schorn - Feiereisen - Bercz - Giaux - Li - Aulas
With a train like that, something outside the top 3 would be terribly dissapointing for us. Hopefully we see a 2016 Lo Cicero performance here. |

I'm not at all happy with that. Bouhanni outside the Top 30 and Moser not sprinting or even anywhere near as he finishes outside the Top 100. Disastrous from them, they better have it sorted for the Tour Down Under...

Wow, that was a special kind of bad! Lasse and Vantomme thought a top 30 would be good enough and Reckweg managed to be our best rider (good on him, always consistant at least! ). My theory is maybe that such a packed startlist meant PCM just gave up on certain riders (were was Lo Cicero?), but who knows?
Ah well, last season we started well and it turned out terribly, maybe we can do the opposite?

Well well well, what a way to start the season. Tom Van Asbroeck benefitting from a tougher race and picking the right wheel. Shoutout to Bonifazioas well to secure some points.

Guess we had our eggs firmly in the 'let Baugnies try to beast out a win' basket.
Oh well, good to see him attacking - bodes well for future races where he'll need that attacking impetus to tire out VSB and Blythe.
Other than that, interesting strategy by Lavoine and Bennett to be nowhere near the top sprinters
Congrats to danny and Fablok, hope its the beginning of another strong season, and thanks for the report tsmoha!

A race like this is always a lottery, so happy to see one of the favourites come out on top. Nice to see home boy Ewan finish up in 3rd place, really interested in seeing how he will do this season.

Ooof, that was really, really weird. Sprinters teams doing nothing and one of those random pack sprints to the line. I'm not super unhappy with 16th and two in the top twenty here, but the way it happened was bizarre. If anything, I expected that AKA wouldn't be able to match the sprint speed, not that he'd be in the top ten and then crack with his 77 flat in a 75km race. Not sure how that even happens, but we saw weird results all around.
Anyway, great report! Just happy to have the season started. Congrats to Fablok!

That was honestly shocking, don't think I saw my riders at all during that report, and now suddenly my new found optimism has been crushed xD.
Hoped we'd be able to be in the sprint at least but nope... Lets just move on from this one and hope the Tour Down Under will be better!

Looks like 2018 Lo Cicero is even worse than 2017 Lo Cicero seeing as this was one of his best races both 2016 and 2017...
