We're getting too old for this...
Sad but true, this was my "modern" answer My first thought was R.Virenque or C.Moreau |

Was a pretty easy round there imo, just Sagan I had no idea if it would work or not
BTW, love to see the obligatory Armstrong answer Roman <3
Too bad that I was the only one with this 'obligatory' answer...

I joined in on the 2nd anyway. Know I won't win but it's still fun to see if you can win the other rounds

Sorry to those who missed the first round. Ideally they would have had longer than two days each, but it was a fairly impromptu decision to launch the contest - and the release date provided an obvious deadline.

38 entrants into Round 2.
Round 2 Results
1) Name a goalkeeper, who is at the World Cup
Two answers of note here, Manuel Neuer topping the table on 21, with many also choosing David de Gea for 11.
Spoiler Manuel Neuer | 21 | David de Gea | 11 | Thibaut Courtois | 3 | Alisson | 1 | Guillermo Ochoa | 1 | Hugo Lloris | 1 |
2) Name a player who has scored a goal in this tournament, for any nation other than Portugal
It's fair to say that this question was written before England played Panama. Only two answers, but a very clear gap. 32 for Harry Kane, only 6 for Romelu Lukaku.
Spoiler Harry Kane | 32 | Romelu Lukaku | 6 |
3) Name a country that did not qualify
There were a few big nations to miss out in qualification, and the most popular were Italy with 21. 12 went for Netherlands, while just 4 for USA, with Sutty waving the Welsh flag.
Spoiler Italy | 21 | Netherlands | 12 | USA | 4 | Wales | 1 |
4) Name one of the African or Asian nations competing this year
Quite an even split here with the top 4 answers all within 4 points. Japan ending up as the most popular, beating the African triumvirate of Egypt, Senegal and Nigeria. Iran was not such a good choice.
Spoiler Japan | 12 | Egypt | 9 | Senegal | 8 | Nigeria | 8 | Iran | 1 |
5) Name a player that has surprised a lot so far
A harder question to call, and in the end another close one, Russian goal-scorer Cheryshev was the most popular choice on 8, ahead of the more negative surprise of an underperforming Lionel Messi. Leading goal scorers Kane, Lukaku and Ronaldo all featuring - while another Russina, Golovin, was the only only option with multiple selections.
Spoiler Denis Cheryshev | 8 | Lionel Messi | 7 | Harry Kane | 7 | Romelu Lukaku | 4 | Cristiano Ronaldo | 3 | Aleksandr Golovin | 3 | James Rodriguez | 1 | Carlos Salcedo | 1 | John Stones | 1 | Keisuke Honda | 1 | Hirving Lozano | 1 | Eden Hazard | 1 |
Round Standings
Just the one perfect round this time, as Selwink called all the right answers. Cheryshev over Messi the key in beating dominox and viking by 1 point,
Roman, knockout, lakebeach, The Mountain Lion, hillis and johnnyjur all close, having picked one of the African nations, along with one of the top surprises.
canojuancho was the top scorer of those not to pick all three of Neuer, Kane and Italy.

From 10 within one point, to 2. The Mountain Lion matched knockout's score, albeit with slightly different answers, and holds a one point lead going into the final round. canojuancho and purepasd drop back slightly, with wargoose now 5th ahead of the rising viking90.

Expected result. For Q1 I just looked up the leader in saves. I guess he just lucked into those without much notice. Q3 I should have gone with Italy, that was just stupid. Fairly satisfied with 4 even though I didn't get top answer.
