We have reached the final day of the season, and with the Japan Cup, the PCT teams end their season. This hilly classic is 159 kms long, with a circuit that the riders will have to do 12 times.
The outright favourite is the same as in every other hilly classic in PCT, Edvald Boasson Hagen. The Norwegian has already secured the Individual Title, and has to mission of bring his team the Team Title with another win, like he has done all year.
The defending champion is Chris Froome, and his team Fablok might need another win for him to achieve promotion to PT. Another team that has a top puncheur and is a promotion contender is Newton with Van Garderen.
The other two teams that are in the promotion fight are Orange and Ferrero. The French team has Schreurs to fight for big points here, while Ferrero has massive depth led by Ignatiev, who despite being way weaker in hills that all the race favourite, his all-round skills might help him to get a good result.
The local hero, Kinoshita, will try to get his first win of the season, as after winning the Individual Title 2016, he hasn't been anywhere his last year's level, specially with the arrivals of Hagen and Van Garderen to the division.
Gautier and Di Maggio will have to bring their teams an epic performance if Valio or MOL want to have a chance to be saved from relegation.
There are of course other riders that are always dangerous in a hilly classic like Ulissi, Flugel, Jull-Jensen, Mohoric, Caruso, Barbin, Waeytens, Klemme or Zaini

The race that will decide if Waeytens goes on the transfer list or not. Extremely excited for this!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Kinda hope Kinoshia wins this, he's really not had the best season compared to last year and I feel for Meiji, plus he's on home terrain. Uliisi too after Generalli has had their share of bad luck (though Kigali was pretty awesome for them), otherwise supporting Isostar's ranking position.
Though I care much more about Valio than any of that, theoretically they shouldn't score enough points, but you never know...
Very nice preview to finish off the season, thanks Aquarius!

Guys, gearbox to defensive mode. Berg Cycles is not here, so UBS is the team we need to outscore. Control Reichenbach, and go for glory you sweet armada of Isostar riders!

If I didn't pump some money in him, I'd probably have made an illegal predeal already But I invested so much in him I'm a bit reluctant and want to give him one more chance.

Fantastic season for EBH so far. Hopefully he can finish it off with another big result here.
The fight for 5th place will be epic!

Good job out PCT safety was secured a few races ago, because having a 71HL leader in De Vos would not be enough otherwise Luckily we just get to relax and enjoy the scenery and take this final day of the season easy and celebrate a job well done!

A home win for Kinoshita will be cool. Very excited for the promotion and relegation battles, especially the former will be an absolute nailbiter!
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Another upset win would be cool, but that would be very surprising. A low top-10 is probably the max here

Good thing we only need to win this race about 15 times to avoid relegation.
Fingers crossed! |

Well, I need a miracle win from Schreurs, and I need Ignatiev, Froome and Van Garderen to crash out. Certainly doable... in a world where unicorns exist. |

5) Ferrero - 2702
6) Fablok - 2688
7) Orange - 2686
8) Newton - 2670
32 points separating them. That close!
Indosat are on 2612 as well, but their season is over.

Looking for one last Juul-Maar performance for a top 10 here. I know it's unlikely, but we got the whole hilly squad here for one last go, and I'd like to see us doing some positive things in this race to end the season on a good note.
