Domagalski, Kaspa, Nielsen in breaks and Rabottini 22nd overall, glad our guys are at least vaguely trying, in spite of the rubbish results from our leader. Especially brave from Nielsen today.
Also, was that the same Mendes as the on that was with Silvio's CT team? How times have changed. Quite cool that he still wins though.

Really hoped to see us join the breakaway here as well, similar to what Teuns did on stage 5, as we have no sprinter here. Hopefully that means we save everything for the mountain stage, where we'll need to have Teuns up front if we're serious about the KoM classiication.
And congratulations, bbl! |

Happy with Choi still placed 7th, with only seconds up to top 5.
Stage 9 and 10 will be decisive, and he will need to step up supported by Ji.
Thanks for the excellent reports Abhiskhek! |

2nd breakaway victory. This was always going to be the tougher sprint stage for Avelino.
Happy to see my former rider, Mendes take the win. Congrats bbl!
Borges seems to have woken up to this race. Perhaps he can still do something of value in the next hilly stage.
Demare took a nap. cio must be trhilled

Why am I not surprised that all my riders bar Martinez were dropped?

Nepomnyachsniy still doing well, shame we already have gone down, but some decent racing is always welcome

Nerz AND Bongiorno injured? Can this season just end please. Why can't we just have an all around good race.
Also that was a damn lacklustre performance both in chasing and in the sprint. Unacceptable to get 8th 9th 10th, that just shows a lack of coordination.
Obviously we'd like eight fit riders to compete, but flat stages are NOT recovery stages for us, guys! This cannot happen again.

While sending Gesink here seems to have been a very good choice, picking this as the race where Van Poppel gets his own chances has been a mistake.

Well, that is sure a pleasant surprise! Mendes has been pretty anonymous all year after being my last minute pickup. I mean, usually he's been riding as a secondary guy for Juul-Jensen, so that's probably why, but today he made a case for his skillset. Once he got into the break I knew he would be one of the strongest there over the hills, and I guess the cheering of the crowd in his home race got him over the finish line first! I love seeing my guys in the break at all, but I certainly love seeing them win from the break way more! Glad to not be wasting leaderless race days!
Thanks for the report!

Had high expectations for this prologue, so quite disappointing to only have a 6th place finish - though a Top 10 for Jungels is nice to see. Goos again good, Kittel not.
Great riding by Keinath on Stage 2, right at the forefront. Then we get the first sight of the sprint to the line, and he is at the back, damn. Time gains are good, but no chance of a stage result then. And Goos dropping unnecesary time.
Stage 3, argh, what is Adam Yates doing there!!
Stage 4, hill specialists being dropped, could be good news for Keinath, but doesn't really play that way in the end. FFS at Goos crashing out. A lot of race days lost, for what ought to have been a Top 10 challenge, just like Kirsch in the Tour, not fun at all.
Stage 5, well we're down to 1 contender from 2, but Keinath is giving us one of the most aggressive races by a Vesuvio rider all season. Superb to be the one to attack later, and pick up 2nd on the stage. Into the current pole position for 3rd in GC, but it's still quite close behind.
Not much to say on Stage 6, and now I'm all caught up.

Meh. No breakaway appearance and another big chance wasted.

I hate this fucking game. I hate it I hate it I hate it.
Why don't we use RNG for results and save a shitload of time on reporting. Or let jandal make up some results and storylines, he's quite decent at that. Or we just convert this into the CQ ranking game but more elaborate, can't complain about real results being unrealistic. Or why do we even bother at all.
Oh and Bongiorno has long stopped being a big name in this race, you don't have to mention him anymore. We all know he and Nerz get dropped every stage, save yourself the time, your keys the workload, and the server some space.

Okay
Feel for you here though, not chasing/positioning properly and two big riders injured sucks Hope Herklotz can do something big on GC, but this really isn't what it should've been for you guys.
On the other hand, loving the reporting as ever Abhishek
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

The time has been wasted already, the keys have already bore the brunt and the server can handle an extra sentence (I hope!), so I might as well put it up

This has been a horrible race for us. Itami was really our only chance at anything and he's not producing.

I know man it's Monday here too.
I've been thinking. Given we've never had this lack of results in the Volta, could this be the year we finally win the portuguese championships?
Congratulations DD. Senyenov he's a proven breakaway rider, nice victory there!

Every stage without a break is a little bit of a disappointment - it's not like they've got anything better to do!

Damn, LLS has one win this season, a Polonge stage, no first time NC for us.

If i were in this race i probably would be one of the team cheering for breakaway wins, but tbh i hate when in a race every flat stage goes to the breakaway.
Thanks for the reports anyway Abhishek, they are good as always
