Amstel Gold Race Discussion

15th and 20th is a good result, but again McCarthy seems very passive compared to similar riders. Have to wonder if the issue is again Bellis being considered a similarly strong leader, but it's frustrating to see that issue two seasons in a row.

If McCarthy is too frustrating, just let him go where he belongs to Pfft

Fifth is good but why did MVS and GVA nothing at all Sad
Congrats to Roman! What a season for you!

A bummer for dev, but at least he had an outstanding month otherwise Pfft

Sagan just continues to perform on an absolutely fantastic level. Huge congrats Roman, especially after the kind of performance he put in today. Will be exciting to see if he can be just as good in Fleche and LBL. Hopefully EBH can give some competition in the latter at least Smile

If you want to handicap Bobridge by giving him a co-leader so PCM neutralises them both, be my guest Pfft

Bobridge's season is rather frustrating anyway. I will remind you at those words Cool

I wanted a Top 10 and a Top 15, and I got that plus a 17th place as well. Definitely not with the riders I expected though.
It looked like a decent attempt in the finale to use the numbers advantage to pull riders back, but it obviously didn't work. You can't catch those guys anymore on the last hill of the race.

Too bad Kelderman didn't try anything at all, considering he looked to be in a good position throughout the race and that 82 hill riders dominated this race.
It certainly would've been possible to make that result even better. Just try an attack and let your teammates rest.

No idea where Felline came from in the end, nor why Demare seemed to have been on a training ride with his buddy van Stayen. Guess that cancels itself out in the end.
Oh, and Borges of course outscores all of them again. (?!) And no comment on anything Moser does this season in one-day races.

Great result for Gastauer. Shame to be so close to the podium, and not quite get it, but 4th is very good. He seemed to fancy himself for a result all day, placing himself right towards the front of the pack.

Indeed, Sagan and Borges continue to defy expectations, and Ponzi was very unlucky. Thanks for the report Aquarius, and your continued contributions to keeping the season fast paced!

This season is becoming a question if Moser will win every hilly and cobbled classic or not Pfft As i've always said, he's 10-15 points advantage in downhill is what is making him the dominator of the season. I wonder what's left in his season, as he "saved" a few RD not going to PN, so maybe he has space for a GT

A shame about Ponzi's retirement. I was very surprise when it appeared in my screen that he had retired from the race, as there wasn't any crash anounced either. But Hugo Boss just had an incredible month, so this doesn't harm them too much, as Ponzi still has other two races to make up the points loss here. I had never experienced sudden retirements like this in PCM, but it has already happened a couple of times more in the races i've already reported

Damn, didnt see that one comming, Ponzi said he felt fine this morning Pfft

Pitty that he had to abandon here, especially considering this race was a win goal and pretty much tailor-made for him.

Thanks for the report, Aquarius! Atleast it was an actionfilled race. Sagan yet again easily the strongest, didnt think he would make it after all those attacks.

Great to have a guy in the break and seeing Gautier somewhat up there in the finale.

Another amazing race by Sagan. Congrats Roman!

Really feel for dev4ever, what a crappy way to miss out on a goal Sad

Happy with my team performance, man in the break and a top 10 with Flügel being active covering an early move.

Sagan seems unstoppable this season!

Thanks for the action packed report Aquarius.

Borges! What a season so far! He continues to do well when the favourites slack on the pace and leave it all for the end of the race. It's really fortunate for us to have him snatching these unexpected results when the rest of our leaders fail to excel when needed.

Sagan though is like a Borges on steroids Pfft Really impressive the sheer strength throughout the whole event! Again, congrats Roman!

A pity about Ponzi. What a anti-climax to an almost perfect month.

Great report as usual Aquarius, thanks again!

Rather disappointed by Boswell's race. Vermeltfoort, on the other hand, had another impressive result in a classic this year after MSR.

Yet another bad hill classic performance by De Bie. Not sure why, but he is so much better in hilly stage races. Can`t even make it a top10 in the hilly classics, which is a pity seeing his 82 hill training this season, which should see him closer to guys like Gastauer, who was 4th here.

Borges with yet another fantastic performance for Porto and Felline for Puma weren`t expected to be ahead really.

Thurau in 36th is nice, Villella in 63rd not so nice.

Need to score more in hilly races in the next weeks.

Roman
 Cool

How, wow! Would never think Sagan can become so good already this season, what an incredible season for him. And surely a lot lucky one, it is incredible how poor results has a rider like Ponzi this year. Incredible show from Sagan in this one. Sagan is magic, really.

Big thanks for the report and big thanks for these nice congrats!
