Encouraging start for Henao. Very close to the front on stage 1 and hardly any time lost in the TT. Now he needs a good mountain stage.

Holy crap! I was in true shock when I saw Steensen with the best time! He wasn't even on the map! I brought him here on a whim, and he did not disappoint. Absolutely sensational ride.
The team has been inconsistent this year, but the stage wins keep coming in unexpected ways. I mean, Steensen was only a top 5-10 TTist in CT last year most of the time, and now he wins a C1 prologue!
It would be super nice if he went in the break to grab the points jersey tomorrow, but I doubt it given the mountains. I'm okay with the stage win as our only result anyway. Contador still kinda in the mix though if he somehow has a good day. A Garby attack from long range would be cool too if he wants. A man can dream...
Edit: Steensen obviously won't attack, he's in yellow. Derp.

Would have been nice if Cornu could have won that but I guess I'll accept 2nd. More annoying is that the breakaway will probably win the stage tomorrow as I don't see Carlsberg controlling it tomorrow. I hope my team does some work to set up VDB for a good result!

Anger in two parts here:
Úran should've gained a lot more here, but that's only a minor concern since the gaps wouldn't be ultra big enough and he still has to finish at the front in the mountain stage.
Martinez rode a great TT, but he was involved in the crash yesterday, which means a great minor points position down the drain, and that's not good when you need every point to steer away from the relegation zone.
Anyway, looking forward to the firework of the final stage. Congrats bbl on the stage victory and thanks Aquarius for the reports

Not sure what got into Abreu, but a great day for him. And Fraile is right where he needs to be. Wheel suck up the climb and a Top 10 finish could happen.

Not much to say so far - everything's decided in the mountains.
Congrats to BBL with Steensen's win, though. Sensational. |

That's the spirit. Brändle and Fraile to slow the pace down

IDAN SHAPIRA YOU GENIUS!
Yet another stage win from the Israeli star Shapira with his first season as full maxed and not only that! He takes the Points/KoM jersey + a 12th place in GC. To complete the circle we got a 2nd place on the first stage with Stepniak going it solo. Didn't expect this much for this race, good stuff
Thanks for the reports
EDIT: And congrats to Selwink, deserves that win and best of the lot is that it denies our own competitors from scoring big here. Lots of surprises in the Top 15 GC

Not good. Potocki injured, the race too fast for Brändle and vdB beating Brajkovic. My hero is Tadej Logar though.
Big win for Duarte in the struggle against relegation, a great race for one of our major opponents.

Good to get Skjerping in the break. Just a pity he couldn't join from the start, as I imagine he could have done even better. Still, another couple of points picked up, so we're leaving the race with more points than expected. Just a little shame that Olsson just missed the top 50.
Nice to see Henao with a good result here, after a few disappointing races. Congrats to Novatek and Fablok on the wins here, not quite what I had expected!
Thanks for the reports, Aquarius

Congrats Fablok on the stage win and Novatek on the GC. Shame to see Úran just outside the podium, would've wanted more points from him here but guess you can't have everything.
And as always great reporting by Aquarius97.

Congrats to Novatek and thanks for the great reports!
Contador again was completely useless. He finished with riders that have less mountain than him and crashed. That's just unacceptable and frankly pretty stupid. I mean, he has 79 mountain. 79! It's hard to even believe because he has been performing at like 72 the whole season. Garby was marginally better, but still useless, and obviously had a worse TT.
Classic PCM for you. We controlled the race for no reason because we had yellow, and probably used Contador and Garby needlessly to do it. What are you gonna do? I guess I can't be sad after the surprise stage win anyway. We scored some points at least.

Well... that sucked... Three useless days in the end. Nelson not really competing on day 1. A TT, never a feature for the team. And Talansky crashing out of day 3. Luckily it's only 3 days, so a marginal loss in scoring possibility. Although a 3 day stage race could have been a great pprd banker, especially as Talansky was going really well this season until today.
Next!

That was predicted as there was no way Carlsberg would be controlling that breakaway. A little disappointed that VDB didn't show a lot but I'll take the 2nd on Stage 2 and 7th in the GC from VDB. Should bring in good points from only 3 days of racing!

What else could happen to me in this race? Marquez crash first stage losing 3.21min in the final gc ends in 21º with + 3'39, losing only 18 seconds which would give him the 2nd place. And then in the final stage to finish in beauty Chiarello falls and has to abandon...
Congrats for all those who were lucky and thanks for the reports

We might not relegate at this point This was basically the exact scenario I had hoped for this stage and I really did not expect it to come true, but here we are, first ever GC win for the team and I think a very important one. Just goes to show again that complaining really is the answer! Thanks for the reports

LOL congrats Selwink.
I predicted Fablok and Kraftwerk might go head to head a lot this season but not the names I had in mind! Congrats sgdanny, the line didn't quite come early enough for Tartarinov but 3 2nd places (Stage KOM Points) is a great/lucky result given Kiserlovski suffered after a crash.
Thanks for the reports Aquarius

That wasn't quite what we'd expected here - not a top performance by Sicard, while Quintana did relatively well.
Very important win for Selwink, though! |
