The Giro del Trentino is the 2nd C2HC event of the season only and the first stage race. The CT division`s very own and hence the big points can be gained here.

A look on the route and quickly the mayority of riders is going to say "no" and won`t start here. Some kind of riders though immediately add the race to their no.1 priority as it perfectly combines their skill set.

3 mountain stages, of which two end on top of a very long climb while the third still has a uphill finish but looking quite a bit easier in comparison.

As start a 20km ITT to make it more difficult for the pure climbers, who still have chances to win of course with that amount of climbing but giving stage racers with better combined stats a good shot as well.

And if some sprinters want to race here or better are forced, they get a chance on day 3 as well on a stage.

Above you can see the top favourites. Strong climbers and capable to gain time on the opening TT.
Eastman and Suaza standing out with their combination as also being the best climbers in this field in general.

This 2nd table shows the climbers without a good TT to back them up. To be fair, Moschella, Cataldo or Campero only just missed out and hence within those some are belonging to the top 5-10 favourite list as well. Bennett, Mannon, Bardet, Cunego or record Trentino winner Pozzovivo surely must be watched as well. So good to see the double winner here at the start in his final bits of his successful career.

And then there`s those kind of riders that go for one stage only and then torture themselves over the remaining four. First the TT riders, which are highly likely to take the opener and the first Maillot Jaune as the difference to the climbers is quite big. Here CycleYorkshire clearly needs that win seeing them having 3 of the 4 top favourites. Everything else would be hugely disappointing really. Bookwalter though just like Hofer a rider to annoy them a lot I guess.
Someone like Zoidl even might take profit from a high TT finish as he is decent in the mountains.

On the right the sprinters. Most really hate the climbs and chance is there some don`t even reach the 3rd stage!
Top favourite for the stage might be Saulo Lay, a rider with the proof already to win stages. He also is one of the 2-3 sprinters only that is backed with solid support riders!
Farrar is another one but might miss the speed himself then, which could be better on Krieger or Awang. Another rider with good team around is Andriato and it could see a nice sprint from SanCor.

TT doesn't suit us too much (Salinas could get a nice boost up the rankings though) but regardless we need a big race here after Tachira, hoping for Bennett to make some time back on stage 2 and the triple threat to go to its full potential on stages 4 and 5.

Absolutely huge startlist here, will be a very fun sight to see every (?) CT climber have a crack Grin

Top10 is the Team Goal, but the real goal is a podium. The win will be really hard, with the TT being in Eastman favour, but with Cunego's addition to the mountain train, we have here the strongest climbing team we can have in all season.

To win the race we need to really limit our losses to Eastman in the TT, to something like ¿10 seconds? at most, and win S2. We really need the lead bonus to keep behind us both Eastman and Suaza

This race isn't quite right without a TTT Sad

Time for the Xero trio to get their revenge! Bennet's got this one. Grin Eastman, Valls and Penasa are a tough line up to beat though, also cool to see Panayotov's first race in new colours. Smile

Thanks for the preview, Roturn! Smile

Not expecting too much here, as my climbers can't TT very well and I left Krasnoperov home. I can only hope for some Manfredi attacks and perhaps a break in stage 3.

Nice preview though Wink

Surely a race that Eastman has to win. Would be cool if guys like Suaza and Bennett will stay on the bike this time and I do expect a better showing from Penasa here.

The opening TT has to go to cycleYorkshire, anything else would be unfair Wink

Maybe one of my biggest chances of scoring serious points this entire season. Im sending both Bookwalter and Park in hopes of a stage win.

Penasa must perform far better than Tachira, otherwise labels of "bust" might be pushed by the Polish media.

Eastman, Valls, Suaza, and Tvetcov will be tricky contenders, but the team has confidence in at least a top 5 position for 3P. We've also brought Paluta, a young, fighting threat. We'd really like to see him in the breakaway a couple days to take some of the pressure off our domestiques at the front of the peloton.

This is Eastmans race to lose, but I kinda think that Tvetchov will go and take it all for some reason. Obviously cheering for Penasa, that has to shown his Tachira was just an unlucky one-off

I kinda get the same feeling, just feels like Tvetcov's race. Pfft

This should be an ideal race for Suaza, so fingers crossed.

Got a top 10 goal, we need some good day here to get it.
Lets get a clean race with all the favorites vertical from start to finish.

I dont think Cataldo can win this, so i hope that sutty68 will take it.

I can't really expect a repeat of Tachira so I'll be happy with a rider getting into the top 10 in the GC. Some breakaway sojourns would be nice. Krieger the lol pick for one stage. Hopefully he can get past Stage 2 Pfft

Hoping for a high finish from Grabovski in the ITT.

whitejersey
Hopefully we get in a few breaks, and Farrar can snap a top 10 on stage 3. Looking forward to some great racing from some of the top leaders in the division!

I hope Eg and Asgreen serve their teams well here. There's certainly a lot of the terrain where each of them should be useful, so I wish Wiggle and WCC the best.

So Azteca is done pulling punches now, with it's first full squad of the season, Eastman is ready and has a ton of climbing support (78/77/76/76/74/74/73) to help with the work.

The key for us will be taking time on the opening TT and putting Eastman in the Jersey on stage two, letting our team be able to control everything after that. Obviously expectations are incredibly high for this race, so we are excited to get going.

Excited to see Suaza here. He could prove tough to beat with his combos.
Wondering if the climbing depth for azteca Will pay off too, super team they are bringing really.

Interesting to see how Tvetcov deals with this new generation of killers in the CT :S

I'll take nothing less than a stage win (duh) as I've thrown everything at the first TT, hopefully Tvetcov will find himself ideally placed as well ahead of his assault at the G top 10. Considering the competition is really high, a top 10 should be an achievable target but anything more would be a welcome surprise!
