What a waste! Congrats Bikex. Nice report Jandal Smile

Nice read, and a good win for Nepo and Spar

Bummer for guys like Kump, but Nepom was amongst those dangerous sprinters, so I'm not too surprised those guys beat Burghardt. The German would never go and win this bunch sprint, so even though it hurts to miss the podium (especially for a team with podium ambitiouns Wink ), it could have go worse. Ewan would have done better than Van Aesbroeck or Kump Pfft

Bizarre race Rolling Eyes

Looked like Havik might have something to say, but in the end, not even a whimper. This was a speculative race, but thought we might have had something for the favourites in a sprint situation. Congrats to Bikex and also to Scorchio and his WCC squad, bringing home some vital points with a couple nice finishes from Bush and Sanogo!

Thanks jandal, those petrol prices are a blast from the past Pfft

Congrats Bikex, thanks jandal

Good news (sorry Pfft) to see Clifford in the break, but was his Nigerian NC missing? I poured my heart out creating that jersey myself.

Anyway, Albert was there at the front, he doesn't have an amazing sprint but he still got away with minor points, same as Clifford. Not bad for a C1 race we had to ride because the other leaders already had full schedule.

Now let's come back to everybody that told me how much of a great season I have/am having. Jokes after 3 good stages in TDU were funny, now they are not anymore.

Thank you very much for the great report! Can't do much about stupid AI. Our team chased all the big teams down in a stunning manner, only to show absolutely no interest in the final sprint. What an awful race. We lost at least 50 points this race, most likely more.

Really weird race, especially in the final 20 km, with Generali using his sprinter to control the bunch, and then lots of sprinters not even caring about the sprint.

Congrats to Bikex. If not mistaken, it's already his second one-day race win of the season. Also big points for Newton with 2 riders in the podium.
And looking into my own interests, "nice" to see that barely no CT team scored important points here Smile

Millions of Barbadian Dollars spent, no improvement in results. Except this time 4th isn't a great result, it's just about acceptable and won't be enough to keep us up. Luckily Darren Matthews was impressive for 11th, far better than i really expected for the Barbadian champ. Thomas got some points as well, but nothing to shout about.

I've just realized we gained 7 points out of it. Fantastic. Kump with a 0 that hurts painfully

Eh what? A top 5, so the result in the end is okay for us, but that was a weird race. A total fuck up of a sprint with plenty of good sprinters just lurking at the back. A shame reading about Rowe sitting good, and then doing fuck all.

12 guys inside three minutes here last year, and now this? It seems odd, to be honest, but looking at the favourites everything seems right about the race.

Anyway a great result for Spar and Newton. Congrats!

At least he's max'ing this year so when we relegate i can utterly butcher the CT sprints Pfft

A nice masochistic experience playing with the big boys in Belgium.
Now on to a more realistic challenge.

Congratulations to SPAR – Shimano and Bikex, also Newton and Mresuperstar with the dbl. podium.

thanks to jandal7 for that great report.

Checking the race on my computer now, and I see that it was Würtz and not Rowe up there with Wisniowski on the latest pictures. Explains why he ended in the top 20, but makes it even more difficult to understand what happened in the sprint. Rowe did get caught out in the split, but should have done way better.

Irritating race to be honest Pfft

Happy to see Vastaranta in the break and putting in a good effort, but that is just about what good I have to say about this race.

I'm pretty happy about the final result, but not about how it occurred. I truly can't believe how inept the AI has been in this race...

The last 20km have been nothing but Theuns and you have to question the thinking of the Italians to waste their only hope left in a sprint to control pace.

The main directeur sportif, me, is currently in Poland to follow Ulissi's performances so I'll have to ask the other Generali managers what the fuck they were thinking Pfft

Theuns was so damn strong. Holy fuckkk, he controlled the pack on his own for like, what, 20 kms? We need to thank I-don't-know-who for Teunissen sprinting like that to 6th because this could have been such an awful race points-wise, jeez. How can the AI just decide to let the better sprinter work, when he has seemingly full bars and we could have just have had Teunissen working in the front and a better shot at a podium, possibly at a victory looking at today's winner. Hell, I don't think it would have made a lot of a difference if they just both sat in the group resting up just like Newton's shared leaders...

Oh well, I'll just have to take 6th I guess? 32 points that could have been both more and both a lot less. Thanks for the greatly detailed report jandal.

That was about the weirdest cobbled stage I've seen in a few years. I have no idea what was going on. in the second half of the race because everybody went from interested to disinterested so quickly.

In the end Nolf is 7th which works I guess, although Breschel should have contested the sprint given who was left in the group. What are you gonna do though? That's PCM AI for you in a nutshell. You never know what its plans are for you. Thanks for the great report.

What the actual f..

I just don't get it. Weird race, weird finish. I don't mind it ending in a mass sprint, but how about we go for Van Asbroeck then?

If cobbles continue to be silly sprints, I'm going down regardless of how many surprise stage wins I get.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

38th for GVK is just unacceptable even given the circumstances of it being a bunch sprint. Congratulations to Spar tho.

Not good enough. Kennaugh was a bet, but expected better from Kamyshev.

Not the first time that I saw a cobbled race fall asleep on the run-in, I don't know how many victories I took in G-W by leading the peloton on dot 30 for the last 10k and being the first to start my sprint at 0.8km to go. A real shame this happened on a MG run.

On the other hand, another Daniel-supported SPAR win! And after a 1-2 for Movistar at Grand-Duché last season, we have another unexpected double podium for that team here.
