I agree, shouldn't have been there in the first place and it's time for a national teams tt,

Even this shouldn't be allowed - the Worlds are for the best INDIVIDUAL riders

Better tell all the nations that sent teams of riders then

An individual race featuring nations with their single best rider for the respective course really sounds like a banging idea, where can I sign up.

UCI to scrap trade team time trial at World Championships | https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/uci-t...ign=buffer

I'd love for it to be replaced by a National Teams TTT! Did feel slightly odd to have a random trade team TTT at the Worlds, an entirely national team affair. But i think it's a great event and something really cool, especially as TTT's arn't common in big races otherwise.

While that would be cool, it's a little unrealistic to expect riders to take so much time out of their regular schedule to do team time trial work with their national team, especially as the schedules of riders clash basically all the time, trade teams find it hard to find the time to prepare for TTTs and they require heaps of preparation, National teams will have more trouble.

Still, I would like it to happen Smile

No love for the Worlds route in Innsbruck? Almost 5000 metres of elevation, only thing I don't like about it is the steep climb just before the finish, I fear that may result in some conservative riding. Would have loved it if they ascended it 3-4 times tho, but feels a bit odd now. But it will just be a race of attrition and the strongest will most likely win. If Rio was hard, or Firenze, this is definitely harder!

Valverde to regain his form during this summer/autumn and win Vuelta and Worlds. Cool

Can't understend why there's no national teams TTT, and the non-sense of actual TTT championship

I'm not that happy with the route tbh. Gramart at the end will make the riders wait for it. It could have been much better if the lap with Igls and Gramart as the penultimate lap and the final lap only with Igls.

PS: Why didn't you respond to my PM on CN forum? Pfft
I was asking for the reason of the deletion of my post.

There's no national ttt because only about 7 or 8 countries could but a team out. Why would most countries other than the big 5 or 6 bother to enter?

if the rule is like beginning of 90's with 4 riders per team I think you can see a good competition, with more than 7/8 countries, and better then actual format

The UCI has made a new rule. Only 8 riders at GTs and 7 at every other UCI event. So they're shrinking down the field.

Just you wait! Laporte will beat him in Doha (or Bergen if he chooses to protest the race being Qatar like the champion he is).

Laporte can beat Sagan in Bergen. If he beat him in Ventoux... Pfft

Great interview with Phil on CN

"For the final 50km, Gilbert's lead hovered between 55 and 60 seconds over a chase group that came down to three: Van Avermaet, Peter Sagan and Oliver Naesen. Gilbert reports a mental battle between him and the chasers. "With a one minute gap, they see you before the descent to the Kwaremont. On the Kwaremont, I knew they didn't see me because I went really full gas to try and crack them in the head. I knew if I came out of the cobbles with the same gap, they would start to think.

"I knew the finish was pretty much at the top of the Kwaremont, so I went really full gas there. And then they crashed."

In a race that had as many twists and turns as the route itself, the crash caused by Sagan hooking a spectator's jacket draped over the barriers as he rode on the extreme left over the Kwaremont and pulling down Van Avermaet and Naesen in the process became pivotal.

"I pushed them into the mistake," he insists. "They had been at full gas behind me for more than an hour. They took back one or two seconds and then I took five or six. I know the feeling when you're riding behind someone – you don't see what's happening in front so you ride full gas. When you don't come back, you think, 'What's wrong' and then you start to think you really have to go harder. Then you start to take all the risks.""

What a legend
