Fantastic result Mr Howard! 17th place is almost perfect in a flat stage. Well, almost... At least Vakoc was able to stay in the main group. Should be a leader for my team in this type of races for my team in the next season.

I'm not saying this was Ciolek's last opportunity to get a result in the Puma jersey, but I'm not saying it wasn't either.
Just imagine where we would be in the rankings if he had scored those ~400 points more he's lacking on Cav, Kristoff, Kennaugh, Guarnieri...
We wouldn't have to count points anymore since we would basically be a guaranteed 2nd.
Oh well, at least that makes renewals easier.
I'm sorry about that crash knockout, that's definitely not how I wanted to get an advantage in this. Maybe Skujins gets favorable AI tomorrow though and goes in the break to get the KoM and a stage win, so I'm not counting you out yet.
I'm not happy myself that everyone but Kelderman and Ciolek missed out, but maybe that gives us a breakaway opportunity too.
Also I don't get why everyone gifted Tinkoff free KoM points.
Now come on boys and be attentive tomorrow! We need gaps.

That's way too kind on Kristoff He should after all score quite considerable on the cobbles as well, which makes me think Kristoff has been the worst sprinter point wise of those you could argue should be heavy hitters. |

Pretty happy with a 5th from Duchesne their as he continues his good season and puts more points in the bag |

Whoa that's rough for the leaders who lost a lot of time. I'm glad Kangert and Monfort were paying attention. Koren was one of the big losers though.
Very curious what will happen tomorrow. If it is not selective enough, Kangert and Monfort will get owned in GC by all the TT cannons. But if it is too selective, they will lose too much time on the big puncheurs. Lots of points riding on one stage!

Something must have happened to Meyer, surely. Nice to see Skjerping in the break, a pity that he couldn't hold on to a good stage result.
Every hope of a good GC has certainly vanished, so hopefully we'll be on the attack in the next stage.

Thanks. Nobody ever likes his leader to lose so much time due to a crash and likely missing out on a top 5 PT ranking due to that sucks but I feel way more sorry for Mre than sad about Skujins (who isn't suited too well for this race anyway). The difference between finishing 5th and 8th is so small in comparison to what is at stakes in the relegation fight and I hate to see it being potentially deciding about who stays in and who doesn't.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Very strong performance by the team, taking control from the start, adding hard earned KoM points and finishing with 6 riders in the first group: Trofimov must be feeling good!

In terms of getting a top result from this race, this was probably the best that could happen (except for Bobridge winning the stage), but it was quite boring...
Too bad, Koretzky lost a lot of time earlier on, otherwise he would have been contending for a top 20 GC also.
Coppel, Ignatiev and Bobridge to fight out the win/podium, I think with riders like Spilak, Trofimov, Boom, Sicard, Kangert and EBH fighting for the next spots. Riders like Kelderman and Ponzi should fight for 10th in the GC...

Obviously stunned by this important victory. Quite a boring stage and of course guys like Coppel do hurt in the group. But Bobridge should have secured us a great GC result on home soil! Right in time to deliver, I would say.
That ain't an April fool, is it?

Very good stage by Boasson Hagen, definitely happy with that, eventhough the win would obviously be even nicer. Just a pity almost everyone else wanted a bigger group to finish together. Congratulations on the win, tsmoha! That looks likely to be a decisive result in the fight to avoid relegation.
It's clearly Coppel's race to loose now. Ignatiev, Bobridge, Trofimov, Spilak, Boom and Sicard will probably follow in some kind of order. Realistically I can't hope for much more than a lower placing in the top 10, judged by all the very good TTers only sitting 21 seconds behind. That will be okay though, looking at how the stage was raced. Also promising to see him that aggressive considering what's to come in Lombardia.
Thank you for the report, jph27! |

There's only 15km of TT though, so it might be close between the 72-78 guys. Coppel and Ignatiev should be able to catch 20-25 seconds on most others, though, so I only think (unless something crazy happens) that Bobridge can fight those two.

Congrats tsmoha, that's a crucial performance by Bobridge!
I'm happy with Kangert so far, but Koren and Monfort are both disappointing. Our points haul from this tour will probably be dangerously low.

If not completely ignored again, Izagirre could fight for low- top 10 together with similar riders like Boom, Kangert and so on. Unfortunately this amazing AI fucked up another race for me.

I was expecting a lot more gaps.
My team takes profit from it with Boom alongside De Bie in the top group and Thurau, Villella, Swift just in the ~30th area.
Sucks for a lot of other teams and in especially Movistar, who basically needed a Van Garderen performance here but now need an even better Lombardia in the relegation fight. Same for Pokerstars obviously. |

I had 6,5k on Trofimov, looks like I won't win the MG Betting after all

Not sure what to make of this.
Good news in that Gastauer lost time, Skujins wasn't able to get back into it, KoM going to irrelevant teams, and EBH/Trofimov not gaining much ground.
VERY bad news in that Boom made it, Kelderman not getting a stage result, and obviously him being unable to come even close to a Top 5 now.
Seems like many teams are gonna get less points than envisioned, which makes the few who win big look even better in comparison.

What a shame Boswell lost time in the opening stage. Surprised by how well Kreder did here.
Thanks for the reports.
