Good thing Pluchkin didn't win the stage, which allows Gesink to keep the green jersey with a decent advantage. I got a feeling it will be very close.
Less than one minute loss for Gesink is definitely a win for him here in regards of the GC.
It looks like Brambilla has given up on his GC aspirations and is now only riding for Geisnk.

Thank you for another two reports today, both of great quality, roturn!
That's brilliant stuff from Guldhammer At least TVG shouldn't be a challenge anymore considering the GC, and closing the gap to Lecuisinier is also huge. Though, I still have a hard time thinking Guldhammer can end in front of Lecuisinier, especially due to the TT where the Frenchman should be superiour thanks to his TT and RES. But a very good stage result there, even close to the win. Velits showing form is dangerous considering that 5th place though, and I expect him to go past Guldhammer at some point in the final stages. Hopefully our Dane can put up a fight.
Congratulations on the win, Roman! |

The performance of Koch since Skujins crashed out gives me some hope that the TDF will NOT be a 0-pointer. He's suddenly trying to get into attacks and climbing the GC
Ford finally done after finishing last on 50 stages in a row.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Wow, what a way for Velits to achieve his first ever win in Becherovka colours! Amazing to see Velits using his DH and SP attribute for it. Both attributes were trained by quite big amount of money a couple of years ago. That investment has now paid off.
Nice to see Velits already closing the gap to TVG and moving up in GC. It looks like it could be an interesting battle for 4th to 7th between Lecuisinier, Guldhammer, Velits and Nibali.
Oh and Sagan really impressed too! 6th place on a mountain stage is just an amazing result and it looks like top 20 place overall could be realistic. Wow. Michael Kolar having a decent race as well. If Giro was GC wise a bad GT for me, Vuelta is a big success so far. Tour should be an interesting one too, I guess.
Thank you roturn for a great report!

What I feared. In one stage we managed to almost fuck everything up. Lecuisinier losing 2'30 to all his main threats. Koretzky attacking waaaay too late and both Campero and Vasyliv HEAVILY underperforming. Also moving from a very safe 3rd in the team GC to a fading 4th. Another stage like this and Lecuisinier is out of the top 5 contention... Horrible stuff after and elseway great race.

3rd in a stage with a downhill finish is good for us and Pluchkin, now we have two more chances for a nice result and to solidify the 2nd spot in GC. At least one of my favourite riders won, in person of Peter Velits, congrats Roman! and thanks for another great report roturn.

That is perfect from Lecuisinier after a very bad day setting him up to lose 4th place in the GC.
Now it's all about crossing fingers that Velits and Guldhammer doesn't have a spectacular TT tomorrow. If not - And baring any crashes, this could be a phenomenal GC by Lecuisinier. 6th is good also, but 4th is absolutely spectacular. Luckily he is performing this well because Campero and Vasyliv are really piss-poor in this race. I have to hope that they are worth more for Spilak than they have been for Lecuisinier, otherwise it could become a long Tour. Obviously having Lecuisinier as a helper should be good though.
Koretzky keeps 6th in the KOM, and Lecuisinier climbing to 5th in the points competition. A good TT showing from him could make him stay there, but we have to expect that he will be atleast caught by Roelandts and Enger whom are both expected in the top 5 in Madrid.
The U25 jersey is finally secured and I don't think we will be caught by Tinkoff in the Team GC. So instead we can hope for my riders to perform better in general on the TT to atleast put some stress on Aker - I think we are not going to beat their three best guys: Guldhammer, Stake Laengen and Galta. Nesset and Hoem can probably match Vasyliv and Campero too...
Great report and nice to see that Chamorro really fought well for that KOM jersey when Alarcon didn't really want it in the end. Must suck for Red Bull though to have finally closed the gap and being a clear favorite.

A big ouch of a race for us and that last stage hurts badly, with Jose desperately trying to rescue his Vuelta.
Still appreciate his battling in vain performance and been loving these reports on my phone on the bus home, sorry I have not been commenting.
Jose's bad GT, all part of the risk, he was due a tough one and this was a risk with the amount of hilly stages that some of the hill beast would do well. Pluch and Ges defo deserved dominators.

Gesink bossing now, what a ending for the last normal mountain stage! Fitting winner here.
Alarcon goes all in on MT jersey this vuelta and doesnt even manage that? Hm, surely he must still be atleast somewhat affected by his crashes then, awful vuelta for him aswell

He surely was affected in 1st week losing several minutes and dropping out of top30.
He only decided to go for KoM or stages in 2nd week then, when Chamorro already had a good gap. |

At least we're trying in the breaks now, but it haven't been the best race for breakaways. Just have to sit tight and wait for the last stage now, hopefully we can manage something there.
Nice to see Gesink take the stage win. What a race for him!
Oh, and we're not last in the team classification anymore!
As always, thanks for the great reports, roturn

Another nice effort by Velits and top 5 looks like a real possibility in two days in Madrid! Nice to see Velits attacking, being active and too bad he lost some really valuable time on a hilly stage by working for Sagan, he could be in a battle for 4th now... Still a really decent Vuelta so far!
And Sagan the same story. What an incredible GC result. 14th, wow.
Congrats alex! Still one stage left for Gesink to crash out of the race though.

I can't complain about that from Guldhammer, he simply wasn't better on the stage. In general, I'll be very happy with 6th in GC, assuming Nibali doesn't pull a magic trick in the MTT.
Congratulations on another win, alexkrr00! Just fitting that Gesink does something like that on the final mountain proper mountain stage. Words can't describe his Vuelta.
Thank you for the report, roturn! |

Gesink back to his earlier strenght and proves he is the best rider of the race here in Spain, congrats Alex! And thanks roturn.
Another 2nd place is nice, Aleksandr is always on the podium during last few stages, after showing weakness in first week. We have also hopefully secured 2nd in points competition and 3rd in KOM maybe, that would be nice too.
Now i expect another podium in MTT, praying for good daily form.
