Walsh was apparently won over after spending a few weeks on the team bus and seeing the team day in, day out and writing a book on it. Been much less vocal about them as he was about Lance and sees Froome in a different light.

According to The Daily Mail, Wiggins received a strike for providing 'insufficient information about where he would be' in May. The British newspaper reported that Wiggins 'blamed the time difference and the fact it was an overnight flight' on his return home from the 2.HC race in which he finished 121st.

"If you ignore that and then you get another one, you end up having crisis meetings.

It's a German Source that points at an interview with his manager. Basically he expained the changes of seat positions (and the failures with it) that were based on wrong data; also talked about how things went in the right direction after Rio and the turnaround issues then. Great read to understand his results a little better!

All other races remain, bringing the total up to 21 races. Beginning 4th March with Strade Bianche. Other highlights include Tour of Flanders (2nd April, Triple Ardennes (16th-23rd April), ATOC (11-14th May), Aviva Womens Tour (7-11 June), Giro Rosa (30June-9July), La Course (23rd July). Ending with Madrid Challenge on the 10th September.

With the cycling season over now, ASO will reveal the route of TdF in 2 days to keep the cycling mad stimulated.
I always look very much forward to these announcements, but this year it looks very grim. Expect an extremely mediocre route apart from 1 or 2 well designed ones.
EDIT: Fortunately RCS and the Giro will safe us, but the Pyrenean and especially Alpine stages proposed looks just plain bad. One very good stage in the Juras tho.

Tour route awful; watched the presentation and wished I hadn't. 36km of TT and some bad mountain stages (apart from the welcome arrival of Mont du Chat). Will post some profiles when I find them.

Modern GT riding at it's best (worst really). Action on mountain stages will be limited to last couple kilometres. Gaps between the riders will be small throughout the Tour will which keep 'excitement' in the race.
Chambéry stage is great but unfortunately to early in the race.

La Course goes from news of possible expansion last week to changing location from Paris to Col d'Izoard this week. The women's peleton will tackle the final 66km of the men's stage for 2017.

Called it. 
I like the 2 Jura stages, they are great. I will look forward to the Galibier-stage if Quintana is on fire. The rest is meh at best.

No, the first week is decent, but it seems they have gone out of their way to avoid interesting parcours - the Liege-stage is apparently completely flat and the Vosges-stage is almost completely flat beforehand (compared to the great stage in 2014). But overall its definitely the best thing about the route (the first 9 days up until the first rest day) and as I've said, the Juras are great.
Foix-stage is dirt. Izoard is even more dirt and again it seems they have gone out of their way to make it as easy to control up until Izoard. But the time trials is the most embarrassing about this. |
