California is all about the number 2 for eBuddy: Gesink finished two stages in the 2nd place and it is most likely he will finish second in both the GC and the points classification.

Meh, had hoped for a better performance from Meyer, but certainly not his best terrain. Just hope for a good TT from my guys now, and then get all the remaining riders to the finish.

What a strange race I mean Phinney is great apart from the hilly stages which the 2nd one was just strrange I mean we finished just behind Gesink but lost 8 mins great ride in the mountains though he looked amazing and seemed to win easy hopefully another TT win will be 3 stages and the Team GC seems to be in the bag too so points wise this could be okay |

Koretzky did Well to hold on to top 10. With a bit of luck he wont drop to much out of the top 10 in the TT either. And I guess he won the KOM. That happens SO rarely for my team!
Now its time for Vlatos and Couqard to show that they are not injured.

Sensational time gaps in the GC, really, simply and amazing stage 5. Thank you for a great report there, jph27! Incredible from Koretzky, who also defended himself very well on the following mountain stage. Trofimov is just out of this world though, what a season he's having with the stage racing. Congratulations to both.
A pity to not see us join the breakaways, but admittedly it was a lot of strong riders there on stage 5, while stage 6 seemed to be all about being in the first move. |

In such a weird race I probably must be super happy with Bennett`s 17th and in especially Degand`s 19th for now. TT will change it in especially for first though.
That said, I feel a 78/76 rider should have done better in the hills and also in the mountain stage. Hence feels a bit too far behind still.
Luckily I decided late to send Olivier to Giro instead of here seeing how it played out. Then again I should have decided to send De Bie here but wasn`t expecting it such a hill fest. Top7 probably would have been in range for him though. |

I need to re-add a member of the control team to the save in order to continue the race, so there may be no stage tonight. Apologies for my rookie reporting error |

Sitting in 9th and 12th at this point in such an unpredictable race makes me happy.

Argh. Didn't even notice that Vlatos abandoned on stage 6, just before his big shot at making a result and seeing how riders like Durbridge and Dempster did, he could have been a stage podium rider. Damn...
Oh well. Koretzky did amazingly well to fight off the riders behind, to get 6th. Yuriy Vasyliv in 25th is also decent, when I expected him around 20th. No crashes in the final stage please!

2 in Top20 after the TT. Bennett could have done a bit better. Therefore Degand overperformed a bit. Fair enough.
Last stage now it`s to keep it like this as my sprinter won`t go for it anyway. |

Phinney in some superb form. Winning the queen stage and dominating both the 2 tts would basically assure you wins in every other week stage race, which is why this GC 3rd place must hurt quite a lot!

It does but then when are you going to win 3 stages in a Pro Tour race again so that's always there to soften the blow he's also nearly got the points jersey unless Trofimov sprints on the last stage which is possible and the team classification barring a disaster and it suddenly isn't the worst race ever just losing 11 mins in that Hilly stages hurts a lot as this should of been closer going into the mountains as Phinney obviously had the support on the stages with 2 guys finishing with him just not the legs |

8th and 15th overall, what a race for us! Arndt couldn't make it a 1-2 in the young riders classification, but winning that against 80mo opposition is awesome nevertheless (sorry tsmoha).
Sadly, Ciolek is out of reach of the points jersey now, but that's nit-picking as I never expected him to have a shot before the race anyway. Still, with a nice last stage, we could even get close to scoring 300 points from this which would be incredible.

I think you don't have to worry about that, normally Porsev will be sprinting, also sprinters recover well during a itt, but you never know!

Chapeau, Phinney, putting up a great show after the hilly stage where he lost the race and the podium overall, one would think. Great comeback to get that third place overall. Congratulations on another stage, jt1109!
And thank you for the consistent reporting, jph27 |

A little bit unlucky with Velits, a little bit lucky with Sagan this time. What a decent race this could be for my team without that Sagan crash though.

7th for Ignatiev is much better this time, but that is worth close to nothing in terms of points, this race went much worse than expected, stage results wise.
Congrats to RBC and thanks for brilliant report jph27!
