At least we're getting in the break, probably the best we could expect here. |

Shame Minnard didn't try to defend his KoM jersey, but second is still pretty nice.

Pity for Pokerstars for the last 2 stages. Was not really expecting this after not winning the 3rd stage when Degenkolb failed. Failing twice surprisingly made this a nice finish for me.
Points, Team and 3rd in U23 are welcome points as well as also 4 riders in top30.
Couldn`t have asked for more really.
Thanks matt for the reports! |

Nice to see Kireva try something on our home stage. Not a horrific race for us in the end with 3 riders in the top 25 overall. Situation still pretty dire for us though.
Thanks Matt for the detailed reports. |

Given his early season shape, this was qquite a solid race for Goss. Probably not enough to make up for our Herbiers ddisaster, but astill a result. CCould hhave been much worse

Rather disappointed by Van Stayen here. Apart from stage two he failed to bring himself into a good enough position to attack the podium.
What stands out from this race for my team is the great positioning of the whole team until the last 5 kilometres. Take this example from this stage:
All 8 Evonik starters are in the first rows but it's not understandable why my team cannot convert this into better results.
Great to have a leadout train but why would Dzamastagic not be a part of it
Finally, Dakteris with a nice effort to get some bonus seconds. Makes him jump a bit in both GC and youth classification
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Absolutely brilliant stuff by Tzortzakis to consistently take top 5 on every stage - As the only rider I believe. 3rd in the GC is a very pleassant surprise, although many of my worst competitors for the PT top 5 did equally good of better. Taking some points from the other GT winning potential teams is very nice, also several teams close the gap to Becherovka to make things exciting again.
Having A shit team here and a very outside bet from a sprinter in the region of 8-12th pre-race, and coming out with ~200 points is brilliant. No racedays wasted here, and Spilak/Coppel are still well preserved for later.

Yah, Swift got close but had a 6th place in stage 2

Me too, but then again. Swift is a significantly better sprinter, so if Tzortzakis had done that it would have been unreal. He does seem very strong when not crashing though. I hope that continues.

Damn. Pokerstars duo fatigued badly at the end there. But great to see Swift finally show himself from the best site here. Congratz Roturn!

(oh how much I miss it for moments like these...)
The only good thing about this race was the quick pace, thanks Matt.
I don't even know who won the stage or the GC. And frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn. Congrats to whoever that is anyway.

Another podium from Guarnieri and 5th in GC, very happy with that Surprising to see Degenkolb and Pokerstars totally out of it in the final days, but you can't say Swift is an undeserved winner Congrats on a great win, roturn

Minnard rides a good breakaway and scores an unexpected bunch of GC/KoM points. Since signing him in my first season (2013) he has done this at least once every year. CT, PCT, PT, it doesn't matter. Minnard always scores.
Congrats to Aegon! Good to see Swift deliver.

Well, Appollonio needs a lot more training to compete with these guys. At least Kohler found a day in last years break and earned KMs in the lead.
Gratz to Aegon and godd job reporting these sprints, matt!

Thank you for the quick reports, mattbr17!
A solid end to the race from Kristoff, and very cool to see our team try something that almost looked like a leadout. But I guess we'll have to learn it and take it step by step. At least we tried to set up something there, even with EBH involved. Very happy with the race, eventhough it looked rather bad after two stages. To end it with a stage win and 4th overall is great.
Degenkolb/Pokerstars on the final two stages are a mystery, they really did there best to throw the race lead away, and congratulations to Swift and roturn for taking advantage of that. Good to see the Brit deliver according to his stats, at last.
Also nice to see Guarnieri do well for Grieg-Eftel and tastasol. No doubts their season will be a struggle, but Guarnieri at least give them something to cheer for. Guess they could be out of the relegation zone as well with that result. |

Wow, what a stage for Metinvest!
Shame about the few centimetres that Grosu lacked for the second win this year, but i am so happy for perfect teamwork, i was not expecting our leadout, what a job from Vasylyuk and Guardini in such a startlist.
Top10 in GC and white jersey in the end for Grosu are perfect, he cemented his position as biggest sprinting talent here in Africa.
And on top of that i have won a GC bet with Swifty, thanks Roturn and congrats. I believed in him
Thanks for the nice reporting matt!

Gah, horrible race and thank goodness it was of the very few I put Holloway and Cav together. No idea why they couldn't get it together and work together - sprint trains are bastards - sprints are bastards - I hate the world
