 Grand Prix Herning
A heavily cobbled course here in Midtjylland returns for its 6th edition. It was around from 2008-10 and returned last year as a C2 race, where  Taillefour won, he's here again, and so are fellow former winners  Giaux and  Thomas. Only one of them is a favourite (Thomas) as the jump to C1 level means top cobbles riders such as  Summerhill will be competing.
The course is so stoned it's practically Michael Phelps circa 2008, but with less gold medals and more DNFs. Around 40km in we have a gruelling 10km section of cobbles and although they may get shorter they never get easier. There's four more sectors before we get onto the finishing circuit around Herning, which we complete six times before finishing on a long, straight, flat road. The loop has two cobblestones sectors, each only seperated by a small piece of road. One for the tough men, certainly last year we had only 57 finishers and 125 non-finishers. That, ladies and gentlemen, was in the sun. So, we have to wonder what would happen if it rains...

Unfortunately missing here is Bakari, his perfect route (5th in the C2 comeback edition last year), and his manager ignores it.
A pretty open race, obviously Summerhill is the overwhelming favorite and has the form to back it up against these riders with a dominant win in Rwanda at the GP Kigali recently. His many heirs apparent right now Vanbilsen, Zepuntke, Teunissen and Baugnies will be hoping to strike a mutual agreement to get him out of the way if they want to win, which they're all capable of, particularly Baugnies has fantastic team support. They each have their strengths and weaknesses, the stamina advantage they all boast over Summerhill is not going to be as useful as they'd like today, but could come into play if it's even harder and aster than expected.
Cancellara, Thomas and Maes seem to be the outside bets, however if you're looking for top 5/top 10 chances you can look at our list and further to see how the likes of Breschel or Nepomnyachsniy could benefit from an easier race finishing in a sprint. Otherwise any number of daring or tactical moves could come out trumps, as another outsider Taillefour showed last year a ballsy move could reap rewards.

First of all good preview 
Will be interesting very much indeed for Maes to start off his cobble season here in Denmark. He failed really hard for TomTom last year, but as the schematic shows he has fantastic backups except for sprint and a flat stat around 80. So this course fits him the best, knowing last year was a very selective race. Maes was a buy that came in cheap and extra points from him would be great
EDIT : Surprised to see him rated over Cancellara and others in the startlist, so hopes just came up

Only one of a couple of C1 races on our schedule this year, and the only Danish race on our schedule. obviously we have no chance of a result so I just hope to see the boys attacking and having a good time out there.
AKA is also here with In n Out so he will have a chance to catch up with the guys.

My money's on Zepuntke for this one, although I've already run out of $PCM, so I won't actually have any money on him.

Summerhill has this of course but if we repeat Kigali's result I'm gonna be the happiest man in the world, and while I doubt it will happen, it is still doable I guess.
My team looks so much stronger than the rest if we don't count Strava. While team support doesn't count for shit on the cobbles as Azteca keeps showing, should it be needed we do have Taillefour, Theuns, Jeandesbosz to help, all solid cobblers.

Obviously another big chance for Danny here. Little more concerned about these flat races where a wheel-sucking sprinter can cause issues. But we are excited at another chance to show the dominance.
Our team isn't awful on the cobbles, we just don't really have a great 2nd cobbler, we do have a squad full of decent guys on them though.
Lastly stamina will not come into play in this race, it only just starts at 190km and becomes more significant every 10km up to 250.

Giaux better do something pretty big pretty soon, or his career's going to be down down the drain quicker than BHS.
Great preview- I laughed for about five minutes at the Michael Phelps line.

Hope we can make use of numerical advantage. Gaudin may be of more use this time around given the flat nature of the race whilst Langeveld will probably be dropped. Baugnies needs another ace in his sleeve to take on Summerhill but I'd be happy with a podium too.

Langeveld amd Baugnies turn into a dream team, outscoring competition again I believe. Langeveld with all those pulls and still sprinting to third.. yeah. Gaudin a bit of a letdown but still solid. Gratz to TMM, thats a big one alright for promo.

Always the fear, when the course is that flat, sometimes getting away and staying away, especially in bad windy weather can just be asking for too much. Summerhill did everything, felt sorry for Jandal needing to report that Summerhill was attacking every few kilometers of the race.
Still can't be too upset at a 2nd place finish though again not enough depth behind him as we can't get any other points from this race.

Good things first! PCM15 looks good for Maes and that is only positive. Also we got 3 riders finishing the race, so obviously good.
The race was pretty much screwed for Maes when it ended in a mass sprint, but cool to get extra points, where you don't expect them

Disappointed in the guys for not giving a breakaway a shot at any point in front of the home fans, but Ostergaard did well to hang on to the second group I guess. Boonen has been disappointing so far. I didn't expect anything from him at this caliber obviously but he's farther down than he should be.
