World Championships 2015 Discussion
roturn
The 2015 MG World Championships take place in Paarl, South Africa. It`s a very mountaineous course and so it`s no surprise that most elite stage racers and climbers are going at the start, while most sprinters are happy to stay at home.

Some big questions this year. Can the Netherlands continue their TTT domination also on a harder course?
Who is following on Taylor Phinney in the ITT Worlds as the US rider is not at the startline!
Will we see a Avenir like duel of Morton/Lecuisinier in the U23 race?
And the biggest question. Who is going to win the crown in the Elite Road Race? All top climbers are there and will face a direct duel.

Looking forward to what should be an awesome bunch of races over in South Africa! Valls, Jeannesson, Frame and Borisavljevic my representatives here so maybe one will get in a breakaway?

Ian Butler
Awesome. Not much hope for riders of our team but that shouldn't stop this from being an amazing WC campaign.
Looking forward to the mountain road race in particular.

Why is Phinney not here?

Selwink
I have three riders here, none of them will perform probably. Looking forward to some interesting battles here, maybe Pluchkin can round up his season perfectly by winning his season here? My guess is it'll be Schleck vs Pluchkin vs Spilak

His team is inactive Ian, so he wasnt nominated i suppose.

Thanks for the thread Roturn, should be some great racing in South Africa, with Metinvest having several strong candidates across the categories.

Obviously the battle of all 85 mountain guys should be a main thing to look for, at least for us, go Pluchkin, make your season ubeatable and historical! Smile

Zmorka is another candidate on gold after last years 2nd place, but lets see what that ramp near the start will do with his chances, i am not sure about relative strenght of his opponents.

Dzhus in U23 RR or Ukrainian TTT team are not a favourites i suppose, but hopefully can do well and at least a top10. Also fingers crossed for Ignatiev in ITT, but that should be the one for Coppel.
I'll be back

tastasol
Not much in it for us here, a couple of contenders, but no one that needs to be reckoned with.

Kind of a pity really, after having been a part of the winning RR team in the last two editions.

I guess the U23 will be most interesting, with both Norway and Australia fielding relatively decent teams. Hopefully Watson continue to do a work for Morton, like he did in Avenir. Morton certainly delivered then, and with Haig he should be one of the favourites.

Guldhammer also looks good for the B Worlds. Clutching to regional straws here!

Phinney is riding for an inactive team, thus is not eligeble.

This gives Coppel a chance at winning the TT, but I don't think he will.

Spilak was shit in Liechtenstein so no expectations in the worlds.

Cool to see Lehtinen with his own team in the U23 Worlds. Looking forward to seeing how he will handle that. Early attack would be fitting for his season really.

A few helpers spread over different teams with CAS in the B race probably the most likely to be part of a great result.

Quite a pity that the Dutch U23 team is that weak. Only 3 helpers for Olivier, which is not ideal against strong Aussie and France teams.

A clear sign that the Netherlands need lots of U23 riders added. Pfft

Not much more than B-worlds rider this year, which is perfectly fine, I hope some of my rider at least can be up there and challenge for a A-WC spot.

All events will be a joy to watch, post-season races is a very interesting and fun part of the season, especially nice for us to look forward to after the Continental Championship was introduced, which means a tad more chance to actually win something except NCs where we have the only rider Wink

Go Iran and Kazakhstan!

Hang on, let's discuss this first.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

B worlds should be quite interesting, but don't see any of my own riders doing well Smile

Half the French RR team is mine, so that's nice - and of the remaining 4, Maillet used to be mine and Sicard and Geniez will be mine someday Pfft

Unfortunately, don't see any of my riders really doing anything. Dream of a Pinot breakaway win a la the Vuelta Queen stage, but to be honest I don't see that happening Wink

the_hoyle
I have no rider taking part, but still looks like an exciting race!

Good luck to all those with a shot of taking the rainbows!

Rolland and Boaro taking part in the TTT with regard to our team, hopefully they will do well for their respective nations! Probably this will be the most interesting event as well, with Spain being less OP than how it should be.

Will be interesting to see if Coppel will finally snatch it with no Phinney here, although it would be cool to see Fiedler with the rainbow jersey as well. As for the RR, we all know it's gonna be either Schleck or Pluchkin, unless team work counts for anything, which we have seen is completely untrue.

I'm surprised not to see Nico Roche neither RR nor TTT Irish NT. I don' t know how many selectors has been for Ireland, but neglect one of the best riders is kinda strange...

Anyway, thanks for preview!

None of them are mine Sad

I guess french climbers are not really up my ally - Well before Lecuisinier maxes that is.
