Berlin ProRace
This HC sprinters classic goes into it's fourth edition. Top-class sprinters like Daniele Bennati (2012), Allan Davis (2013) and... well, wait... George Bennett (2014) feature the honour roll. You see the mistake, don't you?
The ever dangerous (mid-race) break fooled the hard failing peloton last year, when an early escapee took the victory ahead of a few more attackers and the best sprinter (Cavendish) finishing 11th! It's an always possible scenario, but of course the top-teams want to avoid such a thing happening this year.
The Startlist
The Sprinters | Rider | SPR | ACC | | Rider | SPR | ACC | | Ciolek | 83 | 79 | | Drapac | 80 | 79 | | Vantomme | 82 | 78 | | Groenewegen | 80 | 79 | | Van Heerden | 82 | 73 | | Granjel Cabrera | 80 | 77 | | Guillén | 81 | 82 | | Bouhanni | 80 | 77 | | Nelson | 81 | 81 | | Ulanowski | 80 | 77 | | Ahlstrand | 81 | 80 | | Haussler | 80 | 76 | | Boonen | 81 | 77 | | Vanoverschelde | 80 | 75 | | Impey | 80 | 81 | | Rowe | 80 | 70 | |
Ciolek is back here. Despite just finishing 21st one year ago, his manager decided to give it another try and repeat Daniele Bennati's victory for Puma here (2012).. also Vantomme, who finished just one position better than Ciolek last time, is back and definitely amongst the favorites.
Van Heerden aiming high, too. He's still to make a notable impact for Eritel though.. Guillén, Nelson, Ahlstrand and two more superstars in Boonen and Impey make it an outstanding startlist. The latter two with a rare meeting - both should be rated higher than someone like Guillén, imo.
The next bunch of top-sprinters probably in need of a great daily form: Drapac, Groenewegen, Cabrera, Bouhanni, Haussler, Rowe.. make your own choice here.
The Roleurs | Rider | FL | STA | FTR | Maes | 80 | 79 | 72 | Baugnies | 78 | 80 | 74 | Christensen | 78 | 67 | 64 | Del Nero | 77 | 77 | 82 | Bar | 77 | 75 | 72 | Verbist | 77 | 74 | 79 | Vaitkus | 77 | 72 | 76 |
A tricky choice, as a few of those names obviously will need to work for their sprinters.. Baugnies, Christensen, Del Nero and an ever aggressive Vaitkus could well be amongst those, who try to fool the sprinters once again.
Vaitkus (2nd), Del Nero (6th) and Maes (7th) at least did it one year back! So they know, how it goes here. Vaitkus actually finished twice as the runner-up here. So he's something like a Berlin-expert.

It feels pretty cool to have the #1 jersey in our home race.
A break would be the last scenario i would like to see so hopefully the peleton can stop those attackers.
Difficult to select a winner as the startlist is as strong as expected. I think my money would be on Impey but Ciolek of course can not be excluded in his home race.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Profile is good.
Leadout can't be any better than this.
2nd best sprinter here and no 82 sprinter coming close to Vantomme's ACC.
Vantomme wanting to revanche his poor result last year.
Maes and Verbist all good enough to ''rouleur'' themselves to a good position if necessary.
Enough factors to expect a podium here
Shame I haven't been too lucky. Yet Vantomme has been decent so far, so I'm keeping faith in him.
(Maes & Verbist) - Kreder - Vingerling - Vantomme proved themselves in FBD Eire(Pre-Vantomme crash) so that is also something that gives me confidence.
Probably a Boonen win to upset both me and Cio and push Evonik to the promotion spots again

Top-5 here please Impey. Tough field but his backup stats should mean he is right up there in the sprint, in theory anyway.. |

I think this one could be a hard one for Ciolek, you just can feel that old bastard boonan messing thus up fir him.
Cheering for Van Heerdan though. The guy needs a bit of encouragment after some dreadful past managers!

Hoping the distance works in Petit's favour - if not then I pray for a crazy Kadri attack like in California. Also hope to see one of my 4 Sri Lankans in the break, although past experience tells me that's unlikely |

This must be a sprint and only just a sprint! We have no plan B as Super Rowe will take the win!

Nacer Bouhanni leads the team here and if it finishes with a bunch Sprint he has very good support. Anton Martin, Reza and Bonnet will hopefully provide a strong lead out!

Thinking about Ahlstrand last race I don't expect anything at all here but if he feel to sprint he got a nice leadout train Here! |

The fact Awang and Manan are not mentioned in the preview says it all really.
Hopefully one of my guys can do enough to score some points.

Like in all flat it'll be crucial for us to get into the breakaway. The only difference is: in Germany it usually happens.
Nonetheless always frightening to see a barrage of 80+ sprinters make the list of favourites.

Baugnies stole a race from the sprinters early in the season, maybe he can do it again.
