Many has noticed that Cyanide will release a simple editor with the game. This has been mentioned over and over again. What hasn't been said is that the maker of the official editor, Eyolfur, is also working on a more advanced editor, making it possible to edit all the things we have usually been able to edit in PCM07 with tools like Hannes Converter and PCM Kicker New Generation. Eyolfur hasn't said much about it except that it will be released after the release of the game. It's currently being tested, mainly by Dankan, and it's going really well. For the same reason, it's possible that we will see the tool being released very soon.
Speaking of editors, the magical Impish, maker of the PCM Kicker, has returned with his programming skills and is currently working on a tool, CDB Starter Kit, which makes it possible to converter PCM06 and PCM07 databases to a working PCM08 database. In this thread, you can see a demonstration of his tool where he has managed to convert the PCM06 Giant by PPDB to PCM08. So, it's definitely looking good for PCM08 Databaseurs ;)
Help us to find the best name for the PCM-EU project
As we announced some weeks ago, PCM.daily and PCM-Spain will be mixing together in order to build a big project for PCM08. However, the provisional name "PCM-EU" which was given to this idea doesn't look too atractive, so, in order to make it look way better, we have thought to leave (part of) the choice for you.
Feel free to post all your irdeas on the database's name in the "Comments" section of this news article. The crew will take five out of all proposals made here (as well as in PCM-Spain) and will (again) give you the chance to choose which of them will be the final name for the project. The author of the idea will be rewarded with a preference try at the final package we'll build. Remember not to repeat someone else's idea, and also keep in mind we don't want ANY reference to any of the two websites involved, but the union between them.
PCM.daily releases Real Name DB and Giro Savegames on the 19th
Article updated on Monday 16th at 18.08 and again at 23.14 (both CET)
The cooperation between PCM.daily and PCM-Spain is already paying off. Together, we will release a Real Name Database for Pro Cycling Manager 2008 on the 19th of June, the day of release for the game. This package will include real and updated team rosters with the correct names for all teams and riders, updated stats, more team gear, rider photos and the missing jerseys and mini jerseys. This way, you will have the possibility of getting started with a good PCM08 DB right after you have bought the game ;)
The file is already ready, but we are not allowed to release it until PCM08 has been released. It's also worth mentioning that the package has been built from the large DB project which PCM.daily and PCM-Spain is currently working on - it's all progressing really well, and we expect to keep our internal deadline on this project. To see the teamlist, click on "Read More".
But this is not eveything we've done in order to make your start on PCM08 more comfortable. Besides, we've built a package with savegames to play the last two stages of the Giro d'Italia, in the real outcome before Alberto Contador won his first "corsa rosa". Everything is suited for real: standings, jerseys, backnumbers, recuperation, rider form's and teamroles. You'll only find one problem: the role and strategy setting for both stages is not available, but we've fixed a correct one for you. Take one of the 22 savegames belonging to the real squads taking part of the race and go for the win!
So, all in all, there's even more reason to look forward to the 19th. We are looking forward to see you! :)
It's the 12th of June today, and the game is due for the 19th, but you can already today download the game. There's just one problem: You can't activate it and start playing until the 19th of June 00:01. So, for those who have been wondering, the DL-version is available at the same time as the CD version - actually, it's before since no computer shops are open 00:01 ;) It costs 44.99 €, and you will get the full game, of course. It can easily get a lot cheaper, though. Metaboli has still not fixed a 'bug' from last year, meaning that if you use an American proxy the price will be in dollars, and we all know that 49.99 $ is a better price than 44.99 € ;) I can suggest using a program named Hotspot Shield for this. Some languages will not be in the DL-version, though. These are present: German, English, French, Italian, Dutch and Portuguese. If you want another language than the ones mentioned, you have to buy the CD-version. The download is 4.1 GB large, so for some people it will definitely take a while to download it.
As always, the Open Bar has also resulted in a lot of new screenshots, including the very first screenshots of the interface, the new training menus, etc. You will also see what the game looks on "human" computers which can give you an idea of what the game will look like on your computer. The new screenshots also include the first view of the official editor which is shipped with the game. The section with Open Bar screenshots is being updated pretty much all through today and tomorrow, so make sure to check it often ;) Start by making your first check now in the "General PCM08 Screenshots"-section.
