Also das tool konvertiert eine CDB Datenbank in XML Files welche in den Editor der 2008 Version geladen werden können.
HowTo:
Zuerst eine gewünschte CDB Datenbank in den ....\Pro Cycling Manager 2008\DatabaseEditor\Database\ Ordner kopieren.
Nun den Editor2008 starten und diese Datenbank müsste im linken Fenster erscheinen. Die Tabelle auswählen und auf den Laden Button des Editors drücken.
Wahrscheinlich stürzt das Teil dabei ab aber es sollte nun ein Ordner enstanden wurden sein der den namen der Datenbank trägt. Schaut mal unter ....\Pro Cycling Manager 2008\DatabaseEditor\Database\Exports\{DATENBANKNAME}\. In diesen Ordener findet ihr nun die Datei Export.xml und genau die brauchen wir.
Nun startet ihr das tool (also CDB Starter Kit) und wält nach drücken der Open / Export.xml das vorhin erzeugte file ....\Pro Cycling Manager 2008\DatabaseEditor\Database\Exports\{DATENBANKNAME}\Export.xml aus.
Nach ca. 10 sekunden sollte nun die erforderlichen Datein in diesen Ordner generiert wiorden sein, und ihr könnt mit der Arbeit beginnen. (Wichtig ist es noch aus einen vom Editor 2008 erstellten Ordner alle *.eyo.sch Dateien in eueren neuen Ordner zu kopieren - der Editor2008 erzeugt diese Dateien wenn man zb. die Official Release 2008 cdb einmal mit den editor gestartet hat)
Falls ihr fehlermeldungen bekommt, welche im Fenster des Tools angezeigt werden so hilft es meistens die Export.xml mit UltraEdit oder einen anderen Editor zu öffnen. Und fügt gleich zu Beginn folgende Zeile ein.

habe das tool mit der giant silver von 2007 (also basis pcm 2006) getestet und es hat die 6 tabellen ohne probleme erzeugt.
HINWEIS: DAS TOOL ERSTELLT NUR DATEN WELCHE IM EDITOR VERWENDET WERDEN. ALSO FÃœR CDB MACHER IST ES SICHER EINE GROSSE HILFE UM ZU BEGINN DIE MÃœHSAME DATENKLOPFEREI SICH ZU ERSPAREN.

This tool converts old databases (2005, 2006, 2007) to an editor 2008 working version.
HOWTO:
At first copy an old *.cdb database into your ....\Pro Cycling Manager 2008\DatabaseEditor\Database\ folder.
Now start Original PCM Editor 2008, and if its okay your copied database will be displayed in the left window. At next choose this table and press the load-button.
Normaly the editor crashed becasue its a cyanide product, but we love cyanide and if you take a look at this folder .....\Pro Cycling Manager 2008\DatabaseEditor\Database\Exports\{DATENBANKNAME}\ a file called export.xml survive the crash.

Now start CDB_StarterKit and after press the Open/Export.xml show windows where this export.xml file is stored.
After 10 seconds the tool creates the missing *.eyo files. If you get an error message displayed in the textfield open this export.xml file with an edotr like UltraEdit and paste on the top following line. (only the xml line)

and go back to **)
Now it must work. At last we need *.eyo.sch files which PCM EDITOR 2008 creates. So copy all *.eyo.sch files from an allready with editor opened folder and copy it to our folder.
Now you can start PCM EDITOR 2008 and something wonderful is happening you get a old database for 2008.
Cyanides Editor only worked with
- STA_race
- STA_stgae
- DYN_cyclist
- DYN_team
- DYN_Country
- STA_UCI_class
testet it with 2005, 2006, 2007 and Giant cdb files.

i never create a database, its not my buisness (dankan, plakker and other guys do it create - based on my idea - how to blow up the cdb structure), this tool is only to convert old databases to the new 2008er structure, and believe my it works - giant2007 with one button klick converted to 2008 in 10 seconds.......and after this only database creaters can handle this file. the result are a not playable version but the base structure.
btw the countrys are wrong because this screenie is done before STA_country was imported.

Great work, impish - as always.
Have you looked into fixing Kicker for 08-databases yet!? At least DYN_cyclist causes the tool to create an overflow error upon export. Can you perhaps fix that and make a lot of us really happy?

*) i have small problems to interpret the xml language code corectly (special characters didnt accept correctly by editor)
*) i wait for the release to test if changing really works - because its not enough that it runs in editor
*) trying to convert a whole cdb from 2006 to 2008 and if this okay you get more infos

after midnight i got a great idea and now it looks great, to continue with my spare time to create this tool.
At the moment i try it with PCM2008, PCM2007,PCM2006 (Giant) CDB Files.
In this example i like to get an PCM2008 CDB based on PCM2006 (Giant). I use a filter in this case to import only STA_STAGE and STA_RACE into 2008 Structure.
STA_STAGE uses the same structure only STA-RACE use a new COLUMN (and kicked 4 old one).
The Tool creates the new CDB.xml file set a warning that Database Creator must change something per hand.

if you look closely, nearly all the files dont match eg. the shortname for dfl(kurzname) is milram continental and their website is scott.br
this is the same for nearly all the teams:cry:
