PCM.daily Awards 2010 open for nominations
It's time to suit up - the PCM.daily Awards 2010 will soon be starting.
First, we have to find this year's nominees, though. And for the first time in the great history of PCM.daily Awards, it's the members who nominate the contributors. Each member is allowed to nominate up to three members per award. There's a week to do this, and right after this, the voting will begin.
We've also added a bunch of new awards. Since it's now being held in December/January instead of June/July, we have decided to include cycling awards such as Rider of the Year, Team of the Year etc.
While the forum has been quite active, especially when it comes to stories (thanks everyone - keep up the good work!), the main site has slowed down in terms of updating. Not a lot of news, not a lot of new downloads. Hopefully, we're slowly getting back on track, now that the 2011 season is coming up.
With that said, plenty of work has been done on the upcoming 2011 DB. We may be able to release a 'for fun' version this week, but if we don't, here's a couple of screenshots of what's coming up:
In other news: Some may remember that we used to have a yearly award show going on in June or July. Unfortunately, we got tied up with patches, DB releases, patches and more DB releases. Therefore, the award show was postponed - it will be held at the end of this month. Watch this news section for more info - it'll come soonish.
As tradition goes, PCM.daily will release an updated DB, reflecting the rider and team changes of 2011. And as always, we're looking for people who are interested in helping out with the DB.
Basically, we're looking for anyone who's capable of helping. More specifically, we need some graphic artists capable of doing minor graphics (logos, mini logos, accessories), equipment designers and stage makers. We could also use some input on rider stats (stat maker) and if you're experienced in DB editing, there's also plenty of stuff to do for you.
If you believe you're capable of helping out and wish to do so, feel free to send me a PM, explaining what you can help us with.
Please keep in mind that we only respond to those we invite to the DB Team.
Every year after the release of PCM, there's always a handful of gamers who claim to be able to make a much better product. Do I even need to mention the glorius project of FizzleFX?
Anyway, here's your chance to turn talk into action. Cyanide's looking for both Level Designers and Level Design Scripters. They do have a whole lot of requirements, but if you're interested in cycling, can speak English or French and can program, you're (basically) good to go ;)
Cyanide released patch 1.0.4.2 a couple of days ago, but apparently, it causes more troubles than it fixes.
Several of our members have reported that the patch messes up the sprint again. Now, it's impossible to pass the lead-out riders, meaning that whoever starts the sprint first wins.
It's also being reported that there are problems with the stage editor. With patch 1.0.4.2, it's more unstable, and stages that have been created with the patched editor generally take a lot longer to load than stages created with patch 1.0.4.1.
