As revealed in an interview with PCM.daily in January, Pro Cycling Manager 2011 has a new feature that makes it possible for sponsors to end their sponsorship. For this feature, a lot of jerseys are needed for the 'new' sponsors, and for this purpose Cyanide has arranged a jersey contest.
In short, you have to create a fantasy jersey with fictional sponsors. You can send in up to 20 jerseys, and you have until Friday the 20th of May to do this. The jersey format in PCM11 is the same as PCM10, so you can use the same tools, templates etc.
The best five jerseys will be included with PCM11, and the winners' names will be listed in the credits.
You can read more about the contest here. And if you like, don't hold back on creating a PCM.daily jersey. We don't mind you using our real, non-fictive name ;)
Unfortunately, it's difficult to read what it says, but the screenshots reveal at least one new feature of the game: The riders wear sun-glasses. This may have something to do with the "entirely new cyclist model" that's mentioned in the text.
Lastly, a "new intuitive interface" is also hinted - and that's something we haven't heard of before.
Anyway -- with the back covers ready, perhaps it's finally time for Focus/Cyanide to announce the games officially?
Some of you may remember this amazing 1991 DB made for PCM09 by Rogercoll and JMURB. It received a lot of praise for its 1991 race calendar, the impressive amount of equipment, teams and riders of 1991.
Well, wouldn't it be a shame to let that DB be a PCM09-only DB? I thought so, so I onverted a part of the DB to PCM10. This means that you get all the features from the 1991 DB for PCM09, except for the races and the UCI World Cup system. Everything else? Yes, it's right here, waiting to be downloaded.
The package comes with two databases: One uses the original Cyanide stages, while the other one uses the stages that come with PCM.daily's 2011 DB. If you want to use the latter, you need to install that DB before-hand. If you wish to use Cyanide's stages, the 1991 package contains everything you need.
We may not be getting a whole lot of news regarding Pro Cycling Manager 2011, so while we're waiting, you may want to turn to Cyanide's free online-game 'Cycling Manager Online'.
As some of you may remember, the game was initially launched as 'Tour de France Online', followed up by a Vuelta game and then, in December 2009, a full season-based game.
Much like PCM, you control a team of riders with individual fitness planning, training etc. All stages are simulated, but you can plan the team tactics prior to each race.
I'm not sure how active the game is, but apparently, Cyanide still believes in the project. The game was recently moved to this address: http://cymo.tourdefrance-game.com/
The game is currently in maintenance, but it's expected to be back up within a couple of days.
Yes, you probably know the lyrics of this amazing song 'Friday' by Rebecca Black. Thanks to PCM.daily, you've (= all members who have logged in) been able to enjoy this song every 2nd hour you've visited PCM.daily.
PCM.daily feels a great amount of responsibility when it comes to letting our members know that it's soon time for the weekend, so is there really any better way than playing 'Friday' for you? I don't think so.
For unknown reasons some of you mistook our intentions, thinking this was some sort of evil virus -- let one thing be sure: Rebecca Black is not a virus. Alright, 1,429,963 people (expect that number to have risen when this article has been published...) dislike the song, but with more than 73 million views, she must be an amazing artist.
Happy 1st of April everyone :D
... and yes, we, the crew at PCM.daily, had lots of fun with this. We hope you "enjoyed" our little prank. And don't forget that we did not prank you last year - I'm sure PCMNorge remembers ;)
