Welcome to the 10th edition of the GP Moscow. This is the last PT sprint classic of the season. While mainly a flat parcour there is slight undulation all across the 198 km. In fact last year the attackers used the last bump in the road to surprise the favoured sprinters. How will the race pan out this year?
With that said let's look at some of the favourites:
Sprinter | FL | RS | SP | AC | Lead out | FL | RS | SP | AC | Gaviria | 76 | 76 | 83 | 84 | Riabushenko | 74 | 73 | 77 | 75 | Coquard | 73 | 74 | 84 | 83 | Farantakis | 72 | 70 | 78 | 78 | Degenkolb | 76 | 71 | 84 | 81 | Contreras | 72 | 75 | 78 | 80 | Ahlstrand | 74 | 73 | 83 | 82 | Cisse | 74 | 67 | 78 | 77 | Ewan | 75 | 71 | 83 | 81 | Major | 74 | 70 | 77 | 78 | Eislers | 79 | 78 | 82 | 78 | Dzamastagic | 78 | 72 | 76 | 78 | Demare | 73 | 72 | 82 | 81 | Aregger | 73 | 71 | 78 | 77 | Groenewegen | 73 | 71 | 82 | 81 | Minali | 71 | 73 | 77 | 77 | Grosu | 73 | 70 | 83 | 80 | Van der Kooij | 73 | 74 | 78 | 77 | Kemboi | 78 | 77 | 80 | 80 | Bol | 74 | 76 | 77 | 75 | Van der Lijke | 73 | 71 | 82 | 79 | Holloway | 76 | 74 | 78 | 79 | Samolenkov | 74 | 71 | 81 | 79 | Banaszek | 72 | 72 | 77 | 79 | Swift | 72 | 67 | 82 | 79 | Cavendish | 69 | 65 | 79 | 75 | Hsu | 75 | 70 | 80 | 79 | Darbinyan | 72 | 71 | 76 | 74 | Lo Cicero | 71 | 62 | 83 | 77 | Kalf | 71 | 73 | 72 | 70 | Stepniak | 72 | 70 | 79 | 79 | Hnik | 73 | 69 | 72 | 67 |
Gaviria and Coquard are arguably the two best sprinters in the world, with the latter in good form recently and also a former winner. Both bring good lead out riders if needed. Degenkolb though is still at the top of his game and should be considered a top favourite also. Ahlstrand is only a notch below the other three. Ewan will for once to be labeled as #1 and is here just to spoil the party. Eislers will try to get a standout result for once.
Groenewegen is under some pressure to deliver a big result for Aegon. Grosu will also be looking for a good result and you can tell how deep this field when we just got to those two. Kemboi is always dangerous with his FL and RS combo. Van der Lijke likes tougher terrain, but can't be ignored. Samolenkov is known to be capable of pulling off an upset and Swift has shown he's not too old quite yet.
| FL | HI | ST | RS | SP | AC | FT | Andersen | 81 | 65 | 77 | 78 | 76 | 74 | 72 | Wisniowski | 80 | 71 | 75 | 76 | 73 | 76 | 74 | Pedersen | 77 | 69 | 78 | 80 | 78 | 77 | 75 | Rowe | 78 | 66 | 76 | 70 | 79 | 80 | 75 | Novardianto | 76 | 68 | 70 | 78 | 73 | 79 | 74 | Debesay | 75 | 74 | 75 | 79 | 69 | 78 | 73 | Holloway | 76 | 67 | 74 | 74 | 78 | 79 | 67 | Culey | 79 | 65 | 77 | 76 | 66 | 70 | 74 | Summerhill | 78 | 73 | 76 | 72 | 70 | 73 | 81 | Trondsen | 75 | 72 | 72 | 73 | 76 | 76 | 66 |
Last year a late attack worked and with Grieg's three pronged attack unit of Andersen, Wisniowski and Pedersen, you really can't say it won't work again. Those three are all ridiculously strong as well as having the sprinting ability. Rowe could be classed as a sprinter, but he's better know as a late attacker in these types of races. His teammate Novardianto is another speedy rouleur, as is Debesay. Holloway can be Rowe like if he's not working for Van der Lijke, while Culey and Summerhill are sure to have the freedom they need.

Will be difficult to beat the Grieg flat beats to avoid a late attack.
That said Groenewegen indeed must deliver now after couple of weaker performances this season. |

We brought a great team and a working leadout if we get the chance, so we're going for a leadout and the win. Let's hope we can deliver at this race!

Think this is our Win Goal lol, hope Rowe or Jams pull out a big ride here!
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Let's hope being a lesser favorite for once works out for Demare, still a big lottery though. Luckily we're not in an urgent need of a good race here.

First opportunity to see the Kem-bol duo in action. Will it work? Who knows! |

Probably Ewan's last PT appearance for T3A. I'd love to see him get on the podium, but with zero points on offer i'd also be ok to see him do nothing. This is mostly for the few extra XP and was using up left over budget again.

In Germany the favorites role played out nicely for Coquard, but also one would argue that the other leadouts weren't strong. I'm not keen for his chances here. Either he messes up the leadout (sprinting too soon), or other leadouts are much too strong for us to be competitive or (like I think is most realistic) a late attacker will win, like most other flat classics at this level this season.

As always, we aim for a late attack. Hard to know if it will be successfull, but certainly hope to have a few attacks in the last 20 km.
A stacked sprinters field, so hard to predict who'll be the best amongst them.
Should be a good one this!

Sprinters classic - lets roll the dice. As always the hope is that Eislers will lead us here while the rest can go for late attacks.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Obviously an important race for us/Samolenkov. Senechal and Kamyshev are here to get into peak form so they can harvest as much points as possible during the end of the season (East Midlands Cicle Classic, Tour of Northern Europe and Tour of the Battenkill).

No attacks Kragh and Wisniowski just outside the top 10 makes it a decent scoring race for us nevertheless.
Congrats on the win, alex!

Groenewegen as 6th is okay I guess.
He looked to be in a great position but then went backwards in the sprint, so was hoping for a bit more but anyway, it`s not like the guys ahead weren`t stronger mainly.
Thanks for the report and congrats to the win. |

Hmmm not really liked that we didn't try to set a train, especially with Krul and Bernas being the guy finishing high for us and Rickaert, Peak and Riabushenko nowhere to be seen. Maybe our hard pace on the flat wore them out. But I really enjoyed Gavirias smart move then and the power to come through in 2nd. A shame (for us) that Grosu timed it perfectly, but a very worth winner, so congrats! Also thanks for a good report redordead

We estimated a top 3, but got a top 5. Not a disaster by any means, and after a strong race in Germany we can accept the loss of points here. Still inside the target.
Congrats to those that had a good outcome here.

Ewan about on par for the season, just seems to be a level off yet again here. Still, no points lost and XP bagged. Onwards we go.
PT, we'll be back! ..... Eventually.....

How did Grosu pulled that one off
I think this is his first one day race win ever. saving this season from being a disappointing one.
