January saw up to 5 races for the PCT teams, even though iirc no single team went to all of those.
PTHC in East Java for the climbers, HC Down Under Classic for the sprinters, C1 events for mainly puncheurs and sprinters in Tour Down Under and Gisborne GP as also for few teams the C2 climbing fest in Tachira.
Let`s start in this order.
East Java was mainly dominated by the PT teams but 1 1/2 teams were able to challenge them. This in especially was Desigual with Tenorio of course as they are easily the dominant PCT scorer there as also Farfetch with Carthy, who did well scoring more than 100 points.
The Down Under Classic was won by veteran Guarnieri and this sees Bakkafrost taking the crown there followed by Swisslion and GCN just over 100 points as well.
Then the Tour Down Under, which was won surprisingly by Farfetch`s sprinter Van der Sande! He outscored all puncheur teams as also other sprinters by a lot. That said Xero around Houle, Nordstrom with Kump, Berg with Paulinho, Lierse`s Gaviria or Duolingo`s Borges still were scoring well!
In Gisborne the puncheurs though were really going for it. Surprisingly a bit another Farfetch win. Turgis showed his talent in Down Under already and he continued strong beating stronger puncheurs on paper. Paulinho once again doing well for Berg with GCN, Swisslion or Campari scoring a bit as well but probably less than hoped.
Tachira really was only for 2 teams. Desigual used it for the C2 duties but clearly were hoping for more than 9 pts while also Andorra at 12 wasn`t really worth it.
In total this means Farfetch is ahead and by quite a bit to be honest. They dominated with climbers, sprinters and puncheurs so far showing great depth and in for a huge season if they can keep this up!
Desigual up next with 160 points behind already due to mainly East Java but also Yates having shown up already while Bakkafrost around Guarnieri with less than half Farfetch`s points already.
At the bottom Repsol, Kraftwerk and DK - SVA Zalgiris not having joined the fun yet starting their season in February only, while Fablok only used 2 race days and also Azteca and Polar weren`t in for many days.
Andorra though having used a lot and failed a lot, so not a good start. Desigual`s 20 rd are hugely impressive early on. If you count out Tachira, their season start was pretty good.

Individually Guarnieri the only above 200 points yet with strong rides in both Australian events! Though Van der Sande, Houle, Tenorio and Turgis all not far behind. In general already couple names there that might be up inside the top10 until the season end with Tenorio though the only stage racer yet with Pluchkin, Carthy, Beltran etc. either not having started or not with their most suited races so far.

The order seems to be wrong, but all in all not as horrible as I expected, although a bit heavy on race days.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Hum... How is that list ordered? It's not points, nor PpRD... Hard to get a complete picture. Could you take another look at it, roturn?

Abysmal points in Tachira but at least we were still active in most stages (Jaume Sureda deserves more points for his efforts). Hopefully using up 20RDs early on isn't a big deal since we just decided to knock out our C2 race days in January.
Team leaders are off to a strong start with some nice depth scoring behind them as well. Fingers crossed we stay in the promotion spots for the whole season and avoid any drama.
Thanks for the update.

Good start to the season obviously, despite a less than stellar performance from Dyrnes at Gisborne, if we gould just end the season now it would be great

Being 5th and only using 6 RDs looks good on paper, but I don't think we started this season that well. Very good in DUC, but then we only scored 28 pts in East Java, last year we scored 270 pts!!
Obviously I didn't expect a repeat of that, but I hoped for somewhere around half that, so that was really dissapointing. In addition 4th place from Beltran in a race that should've suited him in Gisborne is not good also. Some quality RDs used and not getting the return expected.
Ok, enough complaining now
Thanks for the update

To begin with I thought we would be much worse after bad results at Down Under Classic and Tour of java. Being in 4th place right now is clearly a surprise for me.
In terms of riders we have Paulinho on the positive with just 8 days of race he has already managed to conquer practically the same points as in the whole of last season, this shows that letting Vogt out was the most correct decision in the entire trasnfer season. On the negative side we have Swift who unfortunately is not managing to be at the level I expected from him.
The next month should not be going so well because from what I saw in Portugal we should have a lot of difficulties in winning points.
Thanks for the update roturn

Farfetch with a strong early push at the top - completely confirming that they should be set for promotion & they also proved that in the pt wildcard in qatar. Similar things can be said about Desigual who are already near the top very early in the year while Mapei is a bit below where they should have been after those 4 RDs because Buchmann disappointed - not that it will have any big effects.
Nice to see Xero with a good start on the back of Hugo Houle too. Such a cool rider too!
I dont think there has been too much in terms of the predicted relegation teams to say but i like the start of GCN. Two strong results by Itami and Schreurs that could easily have been far worse too which gives them already a bit of an early buffer to other teams at risk.
Thanks for the rankings update.

Surprised to be that high after a lackluster month, but we used up more RD than some other teams. After February we have a clearer picture of where we stand

Good start to the season. Seeing Guarnieri top the individual rankings despite having gone through his first decline is really nice and bodes well for the rest of the season
Farfetch has been really impressive so far and has taken a good step towards promotion already. Good start by GCN as well.
Thanks for the update, roturn!

Look quickly this might be our best placing all season, ahead of teams only because they haven't even tried for points yet.

Oh man - what could have been in TDU! sacrificing the GC for a stage result has really hurt what was a great month for us
