Hello everyone and welcome to the 13th edition of the Deutschland Tour! This race had first featured on the MG calendar in 2007 and has been present ever since. As last year it falls in the PTHC category of MG races, meaning we will see a combination of the best PT and PCT TTers and sprinters.
Despite 4/5 stages being flat, bonus seconds on the finish line are only afforded to the top 3 finishers. Thus making this a race where the strongest TTers should compete for the overall victory. Let's take a look at the contenders.
Last years winner Jerome Coppel is back to defend his title. He is the strongest and most complete time trialist on the startlist, but given the profiles of the stage it does not look likely that other skills besides time trialing will be required to win this race. The climbs that are on the menu are always in the first halves of stage, leading to long flat finishes. Crosswinds might play a factor so having good ability on the flat might be beneficial.
The Frenchman's main competitor should on paper be Marlen Zmorka, who can match Coppel with his time trialing ability. Next in line is Vlatos who is the worst of the three on climbs and flat road, but boasts an impressive ability to ride against the clock.
After that we have a host of riders with similar abilities like Sergent, Van Winden, Howson, Sütterlin, Schädlich and
Gonzalez Salas. On a good day they all have the potential to challenge for the podium.
Now we get to the sprinters and we see Festina also came here with Bryan Coquard. No one can match his top speed, while he is also a strong enough rider to reach the final km's in good shape. After Coquard we have another five top notch sprinters in the likes of Ahlstrand, Ewan, Kennaugh, Cavendish and Guardini. Kennaugh might be the best bet to upset the others with his strong ability on the flat.
The rest of the contenders are very similar in terms of their skills. A special mention perhaps for Afewerki who doesn't have the best top speed, but shouldn't have any problems handling the long days in the saddle.
And finally we have what I call the wildcards. A collection of rouleurs and puncheurs, all strong riders that may try to attack the KOM jersey or surprise the sprinters from the breakaway. Headlining this list is Simone Ponzi, one of the puncheurs in the entire peloton. He can basically do anything. Ride on the flat, explode over the hills, has the stamina for a long ride and even a sprint to the line if needed.
A similar do it all rider is Oss, while Iberia's duo of Brockhoff and Jans are both good on the flat and while they aren't good climbers, they shouldn't have a problem getting over the hüpsers on this parcours. Morgan Kneisky has a good ability to time trial so he might be gunning for a GC result, but he is still a danger to the sprinters with his attacking style and being one of the most powerful riders on the flat.

2 stagewins and top 5 in the GC should be the obvious result for us, but I doubt we will get anything. Vlatos have been crap all season in flat/hill stages, and thus shouldn’t contend the GC, and Coquard have been crap in the sprints.

This will be the race where barring some horrible luck SPAR and Repsol should combine to relegate us. Got to keep up our streak of alternating promotion and relegation since 2014 going |

Loving Jams thrown in as a wildcard - he'll be serving Ewan as usual, but maybe he takes an extra couple of metres off the front of the sprint train and we see what happens...
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

No mention of us in the preview, but I hope Janse van Rensburg can once again salvage a decent result, he has helped us to some decent points lately.

Home race for Kraftwerk.
Want to see Schädlich pay more attention after loosing 2 mins on the final stage last year to drop out of GC point scoring.
Cav should be in the mix on the sprint stages, fingers crossed he can get on the podium at least once.
Would be nice to see van Zyl in a break.
Thanks for the preview redordead

One stage for Ahlstrand and the rest outside top 10 maybe what I can expect... |

I think my competitors in the relegation fight might have gotten a little too scared with our Tour of America performance. Rest assured, most of our remaining racedays look like this - places where we are completely outclassed and are likely to have a zero pointer.
Can't see us doing anything here except in the extremely unlikely chance that we gain time from a break, which I do not see happening.

Hoping to score some points. Its a weaker team for us here, but I think we can do well in the TT to atleast get a Top 20 in the GC.

Very nice preview! There's not much to say about my team here. Surprise me, Vangstad!
A top 25 will be decent looking at the startlist, but I guess it all comes down to daily form on the TT day. Though, it would be cool if we see some echelons or different ways to create gaps on the flat stages. |

Zmorka has to win this win if we want to have a chance to not relegate this season. As simple as that. And Gonzalez Salas needs to not get dropped on the flat stages, likely impossible seeing S2 and S5, but if he could get a GC Top10 it would be so important for us.
Brought Novak here too for the Team Standings, we need to get every possible point, same with Dunbar on U25

Hoping for a decent appearance from Dempster and Cornu, but it's hard to expect anything noteworthy really.
Looking forward to the reports though. Thanks for the preview!

We've brought Sallah, Aregger, Maccagli and the youngsters so no real expectations here.
Unfortunately the reigning U23 WITT champion isn't strong enough to feature in the preview so I really can't expect him to do well on the GC.

Could really use another big race from Coppel. A bit worried that he wont have any hills to get advantages over the other pure Timetrialists. Overall though, not too high of expectations, lowkey have this sinking feeling that a breakaway rider is going to steal the race at somepoint. |

One of the weakest squads I have all season.
Vesely still could go for a stage win here with support of Sbaragli/Bauhaus while Dumoulin/Frison would need a very good day in the TT for a proper GC. More likely top25 maximum. |

Brockhoff leads the team for the very first time, but everything better than zero pointer would be nice surprise.
Great preview, hopefully reports will come soon.
