On the calendar since 2008, Milano Torino sees a lot of well known faces of the 2018 PCT division on the winner list.
Froome in 2014 & 2016
McCarthy in 2015
Flügel in 2013!
Last season Boasson Hagen won as so many classics in fact, but he is back in the PT where he belongs really.
The route is pretty easy until the end with a double climb waiting for the riders. Obviously a packed peloton is expected to enter the first and positioning is really important.
| Hill | Acc | | Hill | Acc | McCarthy | 81 | 74 | Ben Nasser | 79 | 77 | Froome | 81 | 73 | Bystrom | 79 | 76 | Anuar Aziz | 81 | 71 | Barrio | 79 | 67 | Flügel | 81 | 74 | Prevar | 79 | 73 | Kinoshita | 81 | 77 | Juul-Jensen | 78 | 79 | Schreurs | 81 | 74 | Caruso | 78 | 77 | Lutsenko | 81 | 81 | Mehr-Wenige | 78 | 67 | Waeytens | 80 | 73 | Barbin | 78 | 76 | Betancourt | 80 | 74 | Quevedo | 78 | 75 | Izagirre | 80 | 64 | Dyrnes | 78 | 77 |
The win ist expected to go to one of the top guys and it`s Lutsenko, who is the rider to beat as the season has shown. Anuar Aziz has done so and is definitely high on the list as well just like all the other 81 puncheurs.
Very interesting as well the relegation zone. Waeytens on paper looking like a top10 rider in this field and could gain important points on Netia and Carlsberg. Juul-Jensen though was stronger recently and even put pressure on Lierse.
The team to beat right now is Netia though as they have a small gap already. That said, it`s no Kwiatkowski here. Instead Dyrnes is expected to step up and do the team proud.

And now for a dramatic switch in strategy, Kwiat's season is over and we need Dyrnes to finish as close as possible here and in Japan, just to keep the gap wide enough to protect us. Stacho, Honkisz & Bernas, please do Poland proud and finish in the top 30.
Go McCarthy, Froome, Anuar Aziz, Flugel, Kinoshia, Schrueurs, Lutsenko, Betancourt, Izagirre, Ben Nasser, Bystrom, Barrio, Prevar, Caruso, Mehr-Wenige, Barbin, Queveado & Dyrnes!

Another one of those races where Quevedo will finish around 25th place.

At this point we pretty much need a win, which isn't happening. JJ's been much too passive lately for a rider of his strength given our situation.

Quevedo 15th? Am I seeing that right? That might be his best result all season.
Thanks roturn for the report, congrats Meiji!

Holy crap, the madman actually did something. JJ just went apesh*t in the final couple km to get a top 5 and put some pressure on. All those blood transfusions worked! Great work by him. Clearly he wants to remain on the team next year.
I'm happy, but not overly optimistic. It's nice to be back in the fight, but still being last of the 3 makes it pretty unlikely we come out on top. We'd have to take quite a few unexpected points in Maroc to close on Netia, while also performing better than Lierse straight through. Don't think it's likely, but it's nice to have my team step up and keep us in the fight for once.
Thanks for the fantastic report Roturn! And thanks for the special attention to the relegation fight.

Well, some points are better than no points, but more points would have been preferred! .
Not entirely clear yet, but think still a reasonably safe buffer to the relegation spots if I interpret correctly (unless something catastrophic occurs for us at Maroc, and revelatory for our competing rivals).
