Just the three ProTour races this month. Tour of Ukraine, the Tour of Northern Europe, and then Rheden GP.
Despite not winning any of these races overall, it was a memorable month for Aker - MOT, who top scored with good performances across the board, but particularly by Kristoff and Trentin.
Meanwhile this was clearly the fight back month for Moser, turning the tide against Festina with Bewley pathing the way - a career best 2nd in TONE, followed by the win in Rheden.
Evonik continued their strong form to also score more than 500 points this point, while the cobbles were kidn to eBuddy, and they actually top scored in TONE. Jayco bounced back from disappointments to record the 5th best month, while Ponzi's Ukraine triumph made for a good month for Hugo Boss.
| | Team | UKR | TONE | RHD | Sept. | RD | | 1 | | Aker - MOT | 167 | 409 | 152 | 728 | 15 | | 2 | | Moser - Sygic | 100 | 414 | 176 | 690 | 15 | | 3 | | Evonik - ELKO | 267 | 338 | 0 | 605 | 13 | | 4 | | eBuddy | 0 | 425 | 121 | 546 | 10 | | 5 | | Jayco - Cobra9 | 155 | 218 | 155 | 528 | 15 | | 6 | | Hugo Boss | 364 | 72 | 0 | 436 | 13 | | 7 | | Iberia - Team Degenkolb | 134 | 292 | 0 | 426 | 13 | | 8 | | Aegon - Lavazza | 0 | 407 | 0 | 407 | 8 | | 9 | | RBC Pro Cycling | 80 | 312 | 0 | 392 | 13 | | 10 | | Gazelle | 183 | 166 | 2 | 351 | 15 | | 11 | | Vesuvio - Accumalux | 143 | 110 | 85 | 338 | 15 | | 12 | | Strava | 43 | 228 | 0 | 271 | 13 | | 13 | | Ayubowan! | 0 | 192 | 34 | 226 | 10 | | 14 | | Tinkoff Sport Academy | 152 | 67 | 0 | 219 | 13 | | 15 | | Team Puma - SAP | 0 | 103 | 107 | 210 | 10 | | 16 | | Porto - Prio | 92 | 86 | 25 | 203 | 15 | | 17 | | Festina - Dexia | 0 | 112 | 0 | 112 | 8 | | 18 | | Pendleton's | 0 | 101 | 9 | 110 | 10 | | 19 | | Wiesenhof - Andritz | 0 | 41 | 18 | 59 | 10 | | 20 | | Spotify - Haglöfs | 0 | 55 | 0 | 55 | 8 | | 21 | | Nemiroff - ABBYY | 9 | 45 | 0 | 54 | 15 | | 22 | | Project: Africa | 0 | 5 | 0 | 5 | 8 |
A 578 point swing now puts Moser - Sygic back in the driving seat and top of the table going in to the final month. Can they hold on, to win the PT title for the very first time? They do have the further advantage of an additional race, as they close out their PTHC calendar in Lisbon. But you never can count out Festina.
Evonik's powerful recent months now sees them climb to 3rd, ahead of Vesuvio, with Aegon also in the mix still for the final podium position.
A huge rise of 6 poistions places Aker into 6th place, and into a tight 11 point battle with Puma and Pendleton's. eBuddy and RBC are now tied on 5190, for the final Top 10 positions - Hugo Boss falling out of the Top 10, despite Ponzi's triumph.
Wiesenhof slip down to 12th, ahead of Gazelle and Jayco, who have both climbed ahead of Spotify. A clear gap of nearly 500 points behind them, means that a Top 15 place now looks secure.
That leaves the relegation fight, with Porto and Ayubowan holding the precious last two positions of safety. Themselves separated by just 10 points, with 150 points then back to Strava. Tinkoff still in the fight as well, and any two of these sides can - and will - still relegate.
And after a stronger month for Iberia, we now very much have a battle for 20th position. Can they catch up to Nemiroff?

Sam Bewley is looking to win the PT crown for the second time, and September may prove to have been a decisive month for that goal, as he now looks the very likely winner. He will make his way to Lisbon, while Phinney's finale will follow in Tasmania.
Van Avermaet climbed to 7th this month, with Ponzi up to 12th. Degenkolb entered the Top 20, and Bobridge the Top 30. Lars Boom up from 132nd to 52nd.

A good team performance at Copenhagen, plus Trofimov saving us at Tasmania and Lombardia... or back to my beloved PCT. Good luck everybody during the last couple of races!

7 riders above 400 points shows what my team is all about.
Sure Swift is the big leader and as 14th in the ranking clearly couple spots behind his potential seeing he had 2-3 classics, he did nothing.
Dekker therefore is having a huge season with the win in the Dauphine in especially.
Olivier, De Bie, Groenewegen all young and already up there while Boom and Keizer add to the team depth.
If we can hold on to the 5th here, this would be great. Top5 goal would be reached then and it would be almost a perfect 5/5 then with only one being missed very close. |

Thank you for the update, SN
In total, that's a great month for my team! It looks a lot better to be 6th compared to outside the top 10, so hopefully we can hold on in the remaining races. It will definitely be difficult, as the TTT, Tasmania and Lombardia are all weak spots in our calendar, and after all, the gap down to Hugo Boss in 11th place isn't big at all. Should be exciting stuff all the way.
At the very top, it looks to be decided, with Bewley being key in ToNE and Rheden, but just as much because of the lack of results Festina had this month. On the other hand, the fight to avoid relegation will surely be a thriller. Porto should do a good TTT, giving them a head start and maybe some kind of safety, eventhough I suspect they'll need a strong Borges to make sure to survive.
Strava and Tinkoff must fancy their chances with their aces coming into play again soon, but they're still chasing. And it doesn't help their cause that it seems only one of them, at most, can survive. |

Sliding down like a bitch and, unless we get lucky, we're unlikely to rectify that in the final few races. Thanks for the 'date.

Finally a good month and with at least two more promising races to come (TTT and Tasmania), we should be in a comfortable position (as for relegation fears). Thanks for the update, SN! May comment on a few other points later.

Another good month for Evonik although this one didnt come unexpected.
Climbing to third is super cool although i expect to lose a spot or two with the TTT event coming up next. But the fights for the positions 3-5 offers some interesting stories with Evonik vs Aegon once again and the fight vs Vesuvio possibly coming down to Gastauer vs Skujins. Still the top 5 finish looks hugely likely and that would be a great season if I'd get that. Would be the fourth time in four seasons that i beat the predicted finish position and would mean the perfect 4 of 5 goals
Ofc: Go Strava!!!!!
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Nice to be above Ayubowan, although only nominaly.
We still have some shots to fire in the TTT event and in Tasmania (at least in the ITT stage). Lisbon and Lombardia are going to be tougher for us, but hopefully that'll be enough for us to fend off Tinkoff and Strava late charge.
Festina's point tally this month was worse than ours which really offsets their chances for the title. I'm not sure how much SotD still has on offer for october, but I'm hoping for some late season drama - whichever way it ends up favouring.
Thanks for another update SN!

It always ends up being close, no matter what, huh?
I absolutely hate that even 11th place is not far behind. We should easily be 200 points above this whole mess.
It's very important that neither Aker nor RBC or Hugo Boss get much out of Lisbon. Then it's gonna be all about Kelderman+depth vs. Lutsenko and Beltran and Gesink and Phinney and Ponzi....A Kelderman that's currently on half of his 2016 points, by the way.

The title fight seems to be almost decided, as i believe that only a Spilak/Coppel 1-2 in Tasmania would give the 3rd straight title to Festina.
About the relegation, 4 teams for 2 places in PT next season. Porto might be safe with their expected points from the TT. Ayubowan might be able to hold the current gap if McCarthy in Lombardia or Tasmania, while Strava and Tinkoff seems to be the teams with the most expected points, although Tinkoff is more likely to be saved from relegation with Trofimov being a Top5 candidate in Tasmania without the need of big gaps in the hilly stage like Bakelants.
It will be a nice fight... that will be played on my PC

I still maintain we need a miracle - Porto will get enough points from the TTT to be safe, and Trofimov and Bakelants will easily outscore McCarthy by enough in Tasmania and Lombardia to get back in front of us. We either need a lucky result or two ourselves, or misfortune on the parts of our rivals otherwise we're going back to the PCT.
Still, this is better than our last PT season by a considerable margin at least |

Luckily I knew these numbers before the update, and thus have already accepted the fact that we won't win.
We have a good Tasmania left, but we can't exactly expect a 1-3 like last season. And even if we get that, we won't get enough points to overtake Moser, who have another race aswell as a similarly strong Giro di Lombardia setup.
Getting a 5-6th spot in the GC from Tom David could have kept the title fight very very open and exciting. But unfortunately he crashes in every important race he rides.

I want Ayubowan to stay up because that would a brilliant story and they've been great to watch this year. But i also want them to relegate as that's the only way there's even a slim hope of uniting a certain set of bro's

Now that's simply untrue - I'll be trying to sign Simon Yates whichever division we're in |

Get rid off Ewan and you might have a shot at this second Yates (which value should be sky high - looking at those individual rankings)!

As beeing one of four teams with only one race in the last month its no surprise we did not collect many pts, but it looks like we may have found our finish position already 15th is nice weekend have a solid gap down and dont think we can look above.
Thanks for the update! |
