Ringerike GP
The Ringerike GP came back to the MG calendar last year and the comeback edition was won by Aleksandar Flügel. The German also won a stage back in 2011, when the race was held as a stage race - with Rein Taaramäe as the overall winner eventually. Now being rated a HC race on the PCT circus, it's certainly a prestigious event for the best puncheurs in the division.
199km in total, the parcours comes with a classic hilly route and a downhill sector close to the finish. Quite a lot of climbing, but we shouldn't expect mountain skills to play a major part.
The Startlist
The Favorites Favorites | HI | SP | AC | DH | Outsiders | HI | SP | AC | DH | Hagen | 85 | 73 | 79 | 66 | Levarlet | 79 | 63 | 68 | 65 | Di Maggio | 82 | 64 | 75 | 73 | Barrio | 79 | 65 | 67 | 64 | Flügel | 81 | 68 | 74 | 80 | Juul-Jensen | 78 | 66 | 79 | 69 | Schreurs | 81 | 71 | 74 | 66 | Caruso | 78 | 70 | 77 | 77 | Anuar Aziz | 81 | 67 | 71 | 65 | Mohoric | 78 | 66 | 75 | 78 | Gautier | 80 | 68 | 77 | 64 | Quevedo | 78 | 65 | 75 | 72 | Ulissi | 80 | 74 | 75 | 63 | Barbin | 78 | 71 | 75 | 67 | Betancourt | 80 | 67 | 74 | 67 | Paulinho | 78 | 68 | 75 | 62 | Costa | 80 | 69 | 72 | 63 | Palini | 78 | 68 | 74 | 61 | van der Hugenhaben | 80 | 68 | 66 | 66 | Moazemi | 78 | 65 | 73 | 63 | Klemme | 80 | 66 | 66 | 62 | Watson | 78 | 62 | 72 | 61 | Vogt | 80 | 62 | 63 | 62 | Serry | 78 | 62 | 69 | 66 | Roche | 79 | 68 | 71 | 68 | Mehr-Wenige | 78 | 66 | 67 | 66 |
Flügel may be the defending race winner and with his stage-win back in 2011, he's certainly enjoying his trips to Ringerike (in the near of Oslo). And while he's again amongst the favorites here, there's one clear top favorite anyway:
Edvald Boasson Hagen. Born in Lillehammer, the Ringerike GP actually doesn't take place too far away from where Hagen comes from. A special race for the Norwegian for sure and he's the overwhelming favorite without any question. Anything but the victory would be a disappointing result for him and his team, so in addition to the special race he will have here, there's quite some pressure to deliver. Obviously.
The already mentioned Flügel, the one dimensional Di Maggio, Schreurs and Anuar Aziz as the remaining favorites for a podium result. It ain't a too special looking list, to be honest. Quite a lot of 80 HIL puncheurs will try to challenge them: Gautier, Ulissi, Betancourt, Costa, van der Hugenhaben, Klemme, Vogt or Roche. They are all possible threats for a Top-5 or podium.
Of course there's also some of those ever dangerous second-tier puncheurs, who come with a particuarly strong acceleration: Juul-Jensen, Caruso, Mohoric/Quevedo, Barbin or Paulinho could become dangerous riders for less strong kicking guys like vdH, Klemme or Vogt in particular.

With the rather easy finish, Kump might be the biggest favourite. Eddy is still amongst the best sprinters here, but would certainly prefer that we manage to drop Kump before the finish.
Could be a somewhat random finish if a larger group enters the final km, so hope for an aggressive display from Boasson Hagen. A win goal for us, so here's to that!

Gotta get that Kump win and/or Quehoric depth result, go Isostar! Hagen Ulissi and even sneaky Barbin all big contenders though!

Did send Roche here, because I was almost certain that a strong field would be here and especially certain that Hagen would be here to compete for the win. Just hope for a Top 5 here to be honest

Kump not even mentioned in the preview is not a good sign at all. Hopefully it has been done before the race This is a goal race, and we have several options. Best scenario is that Mohoric and Quevedo keep it together for Kump.

thank god I don't have the best of feelings for achieving our goal here in what may potentially be the last Top 5 for us all season - the last chance to extend our lead?

Finally we are racing again, but... no Kwiatek, I have no faith in Sanchez, other than him, Padun will try and fail to join the break.
Kinda supporting Ulissi, I just want to see him win this, though on the other hand, it's EBH's home race.
Thanks for the preview tsmoha!

I love turning up to a race and not even making the preview... although it is hills and we suck at hills and don't care about them this season

Well, obivously hills mean Gautier for us.
Need at least a top 10, but a top 5 would be nice. The win should (hopefully) go to Boasson Hagen - I always love a home rider winning!

Hope EBH blitzes it - there's no other way! The fight for the podium is interesting though and will probably be a bit of a gamble. AA has been riding quite well and I wouldn't be surprised to see him pop up in the top five here again.
Thanks for the preview!

Come on JJ! As always, I choose not to expect much, but I always hope Juul-Jensen has something cooking to excite the race and score some sneaky points. Scandinavian terrain brings even more motivation to that hope. looking forward to the race!

Schreurs did well in the last hilly race, but obviously it's a top-top field yet again. Top-3 would be awesome. |

Can't see Flügel repeating the win against home favourite EBH, top 5 would be nice.

Huge performance from Eddy! Was a bit worried when he first attacked, as it was such a long way from the finish. Liked the tactical move with putting Gillett up the road, and luckily the second attack was something special.
Great to get our win goal achieved as well. A tad disappointing that we didn't score any minor points, despite having our strongest team here. Ironically the only race where our support really looked like scoring wasthe wild card in Grand Duche with Watson in 10th place. Hopefully they can do better in the more selective races coming up the next months.
Thanks for the report, tsmoha!

Idiotic racing and a major fail in our goal race. Congrats to Eddy, what a display of power.
